Wow. This hat is amazing. It has a full weave as standard and is very tight when holding it up to the sun for maximum protection. The shape is perfect with slightly more at the back to allow for the upward curl but maintain a nice balanced look. I went for the 8cm brim Havana crown. The crown is a nice symmetrical shape that tapers to a low rise at the back that gives that suave look. There is also a peak protector in the "pinch" of the crown which will maintain shape and protect it from wear. It is also finished with a nice leather sweatband and satin lining. Absolutely top class. Quick delivery from Ecuador to UK. Can 100% recommend. Will shop again soon.

As a Panama Hat guy with 40 years of hats on my head, I have bought from the least expensive to the high end hats. The hat from Panama Hats Direct is top of the line in quality and value! And the service I received from Panama Hats Direct is second to none. I strongly recommend Panama Hats Direct!

It is not too hard to be a great company when everything goes right. In my case, there were complications with fit. Maybe a communication issue. But Panama Hats performed well, correcting the issue with what was probably more effort than they planned on, and more time than I planned on, but without complaint and with decent explanation. Their product quality is just excellent, their prices are great, and customer service is quite good. I could do better maybe if I traveled to Ecuador, and I would love to go there again, but until then, buy from Panama Hats Direct!

Overall a very satisfying experience, the Hat is beautiful fits perfect (I used the included paper measuring tape, worked wonderfully but read the instructions - no-scaling!) and is as pictured.
Communications were seamless and responses were received within a day or two max, no languages issues or hassle with management, they were professional throughout. Excellent recommendation and would buy again without hesitation.
Expect shipping delays- nothing that PHD had any control over, took two months to arrive.

Il mio Panama è finalmente arrivato, ha messo del tempo in più perché non era disponibile, ho ordinato un Havana di grado Fino e sono soddisfattissimo. Il cappello è bello, elegante e ben fatto
e per le mie conoscenze è evidente che si tratti di un Montecristi (possedendo un Cuenca di qualità è facile notare le differenze).
Non so come allegare le foto ma posso assicurarvi che in Italia un cappello così lo avrei pagato quasi il doppio, avevo dei dubbi sullo sdoganamento ma grazie a panamahats la cosa si è risolta con una cifra modesta.
Panamamahats è poi sempe disponibile nel fornire spiegazioni ed è molto bello il fatto che ti mandino le foto man mano che il cappello viene rifinito.
Scrivo questa recensione in Italiano perché se dovesse capitare qualcuno che vuole ordinare su Panamahats dall'Italia ed ha dei dubbi sulla fattibilità della cosa posso assicurarvi che invece è fattibilissima.
Unico leggerissimo neo che ho comunicato al Sig. W. Ramirez è il fatto che il cartone con cui viene imballato il cappello è un po' troppo debole e infatti durante il viaggio ha subito un'ammaccatura su un lato anche se fortunatamente il cappello non ha subito danni.

I was very reluctant to order a hat to be custom made, but it was the best decision I’ve made. Was not sure of the size to order. Called and spoke to Casey. He gave me the info I needed. After placing the order I received e-mails with pictures showing the progress on my hat with my order form in the pic. The hat arrived in great condition and is the first hat I’ve ever bought that fit me perfectly, no just good, perfectly. Thank you Casey, I will be ordering again.

It is very easy to communicate with the staff over such a long distance. I had a few issues to work out, and in the end I'm very satisfied! There hat's are truly beautiful!!

I ordered two hats and when they arrived, I tried them both on. They looked and fit terrific, I was happy!
It has been a month since they arrived, one got slightly larger and the other slightly smaller, both have lost continuity in shape. I live in a mountain tropical climate, so mold is pretty common. These hats both mold up quicker than any hats I have. Therefore, I will leave them at our other place which is drier, so I will rarely get the chance to wear them.
These hats both came with lining, which made them uncomfortably warm, so I cut them out.
Great web page, nice people, but overall, I'm disappointed.

They have been extremely helpful getting a terrific hat to me that fits well and looks great. I was going to be out of town for a couple of weeks and they even held shipping from their US shipper until I returned. Great customer service.

I do indeed recommend this company to anyone interested in purchasing a well-styled Panama hat from Ecuador. I have purchased several over the years, and they always have met my expectations concerning the promptness of shipping, the quality of the weave, the style as represented in their catalog, and especially the fit. However, I found that, in very hot weather, the leather sweat band on the inside of the hat (as normally provided to customers) is not comfortable to wear. So for my most recent Panama hat I asked for a cotton sweat band which Mr. Dalzell obligingly provided without extra charge. That was good service. It does make a Panama hat more comfortable to wear for extended periods when the sun is beating down and the temperature is getting into the nineties.
