If I could give ProctorU negative stars, I would.
This was easily the worst exam experience I have had in over 20 years of studying. The process was stressful, confusing, poorly managed, and completely disruptive.
For a service that is supposed to support secure online exams, ProctorU made the entire experience far more difficult than it needed to be. The communication was poor, the interruptions were unacceptable, and my approved adjustments were not handled properly. Imagine getting you to agree to an adjustment being asking you to cover it up with a cloth. OMG.
I would not recommend ProctorU, especially for students who require exam adjustments.
This company is a scam
This company is a scam. Second time I try to take an exam and they take my money and cancel the exam without any further explanation. The support is a joke and no help. They laughed at my face during the call and just said nothing can be done. 3 hours on the phone and the best they can maybe do is let me take the exam 7 days from when I originally booked it, meaning time is lost and this they cant reimburse. The biggest scam in education, I have no idea how serious companies keep business with this joke.

I spent 2 days and multiple HOURS with tech support, trying to take a FINAL EXAM! even after hours and 2 days of this, no one could seem to fix the problem! this is the MOST FRUSTRATING UNNESASSARY experience !!!! On April 27, 2026, I attempted to complete the LSAT Argumentative Writing examination via the ProctorU Live+ proctoring platform as contracted through LSAC. I logged in at approximately 4:58 PM, ten minutes ahead of my scheduled 5:00 PM session. All pre-checks had been completed and confirmed with green check marks prior to login. What followed was a more than three-hour nightmare of technical failures, abandoned chat sessions, repeated verification cycles, and ultimately an inability to take the exam at all.
The following sequence of events occurred:
• 5:00–5:40 PM: First proctor connected, took remote control of my computer, and spent approximately 40 minutes unable to resolve connection issues. The session was then abandoned without resolution or notice.
• 5:40 PM: Forced to restart the entire process. Connected to a second technician who also failed to resolve the issue.
• ~5:43–5:52 PM: Transferred twice to a technician identified as “Felix E.” Felix abandoned my chat session twice without resolution and never returned.
• ~6:00 PM: Reconnected. Assigned to a proctor identified as “Sara Sai K.” Completed the full 40-minute room scan and verification process — for the second time. Sara Sai K. then claimed camera issues that did not previously exist and transferred my session without resolution.
• ~6:48 PM: Transferred to technician “Sharatchandra B.” who confirmed everything was working and attempted to reconnect me to a proctor — the proctor refused to accept the connection.
• ~7:03–7:04 PM: Two hours and counting without starting the exam. Finally connected to proctor “Lolitha Maritta J.” Went through full verification a third time. The exam link was generated but would not launch in Chrome; Safari was not permitted.
• ~7:40 PM: After link troubleshooting, the exam finally loaded. I checked the attestation box and clicked to begin — the session immediately timed out.
• ~7:47 PM: ProctorU’s own platform showed “No Active Terms Available” when I attempted to reschedule, meaning I could not even self-reschedule following the failure.
I have documented ADHD and am registered with LSAC accommodations. This three-hour ordeal, requiring me to sit in one position with no break, was directly harmful to my documented disability. Despite my repeated, documented pleas for accommodation consideration during the session, no intervention specialist was successfully deployed, and none of the proctors demonstrated training in working with candidates with disabilities.

ProctorU is seriously the worst online proctoring service ever! I had an exam, and the proctor transferred me just 2 minutes after connecting—he didn’t even bother to verify my ID before ending the chat. Then he claimed my camera was blurry, which I had just cleaned! I tried to get help from customer support, but they just kept passing me around like a hot potato. The last person I talked to said there was a security threat on my computer, which blew my mind since I hadn’t even done the ID check or started the exam yet. I ended up emailing my school and shutting my laptop. Honestly, I wish schools can stop using them —it’s beyond frustrating!

Proctoru would not refund after they failed to deliver the service that I paid for. I had 2 hours of technical difficulties, I was promised they would refund me, and then later on they refused and closed my ticket. Completely unprofessional customer service at every level.
Formal Complaint: Professional Negligence, Technical Incompetence, and Systemic Maladministration
I am writing to formally lodge a rigorous complaint regarding the unacceptable conduct and blatant technical incompetence displayed by the technicians of [Company Name] during my recent examination session. As a specialist holding advanced certifications in Systems Engineering and Information Technology, I am appalled by the lack of basic technical literacy and accountability demonstrated by your staff—failings that have directly impacted my professional and financial trajectory.
Despite your company’s apparent efforts to remain unlisted on Google to avoid public scrutiny and negative reviews, I am documenting the following violations that occurred over a four-hour period of "pre-exam checks":
1. Fundamental Technical Fallacy: On at least two occasions, two different technicians instructed me to restart my laptop because the CPU usage had reached 100%. This request is technically absurd; any entry-level technician knows that a restart terminates the active session and communication. Furthermore, had the CPU truly been at 100% saturation, the system would have frozen, making any ongoing chat with the technician impossible.
2. Failure to Transfer & Redundancy: Twice, technicians confirmed in the chat box that all checks were successfully completed. However, instead of transferring me to the exam environment, they irresponsibly routed me back into the queue for another technician, forcing the entire process to start from scratch.
3. Abuse of Re-routing: Several technicians, upon gaining remote control of my screen, immediately transferred me to another staff member without performing a single check. This cycle of "passing the buck" caused extreme delays, forcing me to eventually plead with staff to simply remain focused on the task at hand.
4. Avoidance of Duty: At least one technician, immediately upon connection, used the mouse pointer to signal me to close the chat box in an explicit attempt to avoid starting the session.
5. Hardware & System Ignorance: I was forced to switch between three different laptops—including a brand-new device purchased specifically for this exam. While the devices passed the initial hardware system checks, technicians repeatedly invented non-existent issues to evade responsibility. In one instance, two technicians pointed to a system file that they demanded be closed, yet they lacked the basic knowledge to identify what the file was or how to manage it.
Your company’s poor reputation is well-documented on independent review platforms, and your absence from Google Business listings appears to be a calculated move to secure contracts with prestigious institutions like CICC without being held accountable for the user experience.
As a professional in the immigration sector with a significant client base of Iranian applicants, the incompetence of your organization has not only caused me immense mental tax but has also resulted in substantial financial damages to my business, amounting to tens of thousands of dollars.
I expect a full review of the logs of my interactions with your technicians. I intend to pursue this matter through all available legal and professional channels until a satisfactory resolution and accountability are achieved.

The wrong exam was loaded on my test exam day. The proctors entered the password incorrectly and I kept getting the practice exam. This is a group of grown men playing little girl games.

Was told I couldn’t use my calculator for engineering exam , I’ve used this calculator for 10 years for school ,my professor said I can use it ,yet point is I had to reschedule since they weren’t allowing me to test ,teacher extended exam for a day but they don’t have time slots in time to do the exam now.

If I could rate zero stars I would. I am so disappointed that my university used proctoru. I was sobbing by the end of my customer service experience in which nothing was resolved and I missed my exam. The worst program I’ve ever encountered. Rude staff. I will never again study with anyone who uses this.

Horrible experience, and they treated me like garbage I pushed back and then they contacted my certification authority and tried to get me investigated for "bad behavior", Highly recommend you push back and not use this service at all and test in person if possible. Absolute nonfunctional pile of S***. I had exam scheduled for 4:20, logged on at 4:15, finally gave up at 6:38. I had a full strength internet connection and equipment works for everyone but ProctorU. What a disaster, at least I'm not trying to take a college final, oh wait, I am. Call center in India just ran me in circles telling me my internet connection was weak so I messaged a picture of my full service internet connection so then it was my laptop's fault. What a joke. It's hard to believe this is the best proctor site available.

I've been forced to use this rubbish service for all my exams. And my university has the license to use them? My hardware was working well, yet amazingly everything goes slow, poor connectivity, low reception, so I get transfered to a support line which is always indian or african, the world's greatest scammers.
When my exams were over the first time. I checked my email. A message was sent by a hacker telling me they knew my internet banking password, which they had typed on the screen, that i was watching porn and I have to send crypto. My password is only in my head, which means the hacker worked it out via keystrokes. Strangely coincidental. I suggest this "service" is thoroughly investigated.
And like all the other reviews, I too have lost time on my exams because of a drop in connection. Not good enough.

Never again… I felt like scammed by those fake customer services…. they’ve accessed my computer and changed lot’s of my settings… I can’t imagine why I didn’t stop it… , and they’ve been lurking my computer during the exam… God knows what did they do during it…

Rating ProctorU with score 1 is being too generous. -100 is more like it.
A useless company. No matter how much you prepare, it takes over 2 hours to begin my exam. Then stressed out, you do another 2 hours of the actual exam. This experience put me off my university, 3rd year in, I have no desire to continue. Hypocritical that we get penalised for our assignments so brutally when university itself can't get their own issues resolved. Absolute disgrace. I hate proctoru.
Avoid using this vendor at all costs
ProctorU you has got to be one of the absolute worst testing websites in the history of the world. It is impossible to connect to their site. They do not help you troubleshoot. It gives you an error and they tell you to rebook your exam. You cannot use a worker school laptop because of firewalls you cannot use a personal laptop. Nothing works.

Issues experienced:
• Full remote control of my personal device via LogMeIn Rescue (complete mouse/keyboard/files access).
• 14-day persistent unauthorised access after exam (documented in breach log).
• Fabricated geolocation data in logs (wrong city/postcode repeatedly).
• Identical biometric photos and videos reused across multiple exams (physically impossible, same timestamps).
• Incomplete SAR response (missing 14 days of logs, withheld recordings).
• Active monitoring
This is not secure or fair proctoring — it’s invasive surveillance that violates serious privacy and data protection rights. I have documentation. Avoid any exam requiring privacy or security.

I recently sat an online exam using ProctorU live proctoring. While I ultimately passed the exam, the proctoring experience itself was disappointing and unnecessarily stressful.
During the exam, while I was silently reviewing my answers, the proctor interrupted me, accusing me of talking to someone in the room. I was alone in a closed room and was not speaking to anyone at any point. The accusation was unfounded and disruptive, especially during the final review stage of the exam.
Although this did not affect my final result, the interaction broke my concentration!
