Awful experience

I told them I couldn't read chinese

I tried getting my getting my exam set up for today. And my proctor changed the language of my test page to chinese and i couldnt read chinese so i had to keep translating my page back to english. I accidentally hit submit because i cant read chinese. and later when i asked the proctor if she could unsubmit the mid term, she justified i thought you could speak chinese.

Disaster of a Proctor.

Not the first time taking an exam through this platform. ALL the instances were agonizing.

Equipment checker was all green and yet the proctor was saying it was an issue on my end.
Proctor tried to push the blame of "laggy" internet, while the internet speed test showed >150mbps in up/download speeds.

ProctorU is an absolute disgrace and should be ashamed to even be providing such appalling levels of service to educational institutions.

If I could leave negative stars I would. Horrible service, horrible connection. Horrible IT team. Nothing about this service is good. I have never considered hating something until I tried proctoru.

I called the company for assistance and…

I called the company for assistance and of course it was someone from India. I could barely understand her accent and she spoke so fast. All I wanted to know was when I could do my pre check. She put me on hold for a good 10 minutes. She could have just told me that I could do the pre check a few minutes before my exam.

When I did my exam, someone else from India assisted me. He watched me and asked me to move up or move down because he could not see my face. As soon as I was done with the exam, he did not realize I was finished. I started talking to my sister, who knew I was done with the exam, and he immediately said, “You are not supposed to have anyone in the room.” I had to reply that I was already done with the exam. I did not realize I was still in the chat room with him.

So essentially they get paid to watch you, but I believe most of the time they were on their phone doing something else.

The ProctorU platform is impossible to use

The ProctorU platform is impossible to use. Tried 5 times with 2 different computers with IT person oversight. Never able to take exam. Most of the interaction was conducted through a Chat box. What little live open communication that was had I could not understand the person due to language barrier. Very rude behavior from all of the ProctorU employeesI interacted with. Unfortunate part is that the company that sources ProctorU for testing will ultimately lose clients and credibility.

This has been the Worst Proctoring Experience – Misleading Charges & Poor Supporte worst exam proctoring…

This has been the worst exam proctoring experience I’ve ever had.

The day before my exam, I tried to schedule my test but could not do it through the system. I contacted support, and the agent gave me a slot but charged me $12. When I questioned this, I was sent a list of extra charges which clearly stated:

Before 72 hours:No charge
Between 72 to 2 hours:$5–$8
Less than 2 hours: $12

My exam was within 24 hours, not less than 2 hours. I was ready to pay $5–$8, but they still charged me $12. When I questioned this, the agent claimed it was a “typing mistake” and that the rule was actually 24 hours, not 2 hours. This is not what their policy says. Because I had no other option and needed to attend the exam, I was forced to pay.

On the exam day, I was on time, but due to technical issues on ProctorU’s side, I waited for more than 3 hours before I could finally start the exam.

Today, I tried to schedule my next exam. Again, due to their terrible and confusing software interface, I couldn’t find any slots and had to contact support. The support agent scheduled my exam for the 15th. Even though the exam is more than 2 days away, I was again charged $12, with the excuse that my exam “window period is short” and I must pay if I want to take the test. Once again, I had no choice.

Their policies say one thing, but they do something completely different in practice. This feels like misleading students and unfairly taking money. If you want to charge more, at least be honest and update your policy instead of changing rules during live chats.

To make things worse, I have another exam on the 17th. I tried to schedule it early to avoid extra charges, but now I can’t even find the course in the list.

Extremely frustrating, stressful, and unprofessional experience. I would not recommend ProctorU to students unless absolutely unavoidable.

All reviews you see are probably way…

All reviews are probably non senseI just completed my fall 2025 classes. I took 10 tests with ProctorU, you will meet the most professional folks in the industry, all questions are scripted and minimal, no wait time, at most 2 mins. We Americans love to complain, if you give a proctor a messy room or a messy device, then expect to get more questions and delays. I knew I will be having exams, I used the guest room. It has one desk and a twin bed, I ran the pre script to check my device one day before the test. So help them help you! Make sure your exam room is simple. I truly laugh 😂 when I see comments of folks having technical glitches! Folks, execute the pretest before the exam and fix the issues prior or seek help prior! My school laptop is just for that! Don’t expect proctorU to be your assistant or housekeeper and clean up your PC.

I had an absolute best experience and I am looking forward to spring 2026. Thank you 🙏 ProctorU and the staff in India! 🇮🇳

Absolutely awful

Absolutely awful. In my two years of being at my university, they use ProctorU for exams and it sucks. There are multiple glitches and the delays are ridiculous. Every time I need to take an exam, I dread it.
This is the fourth time taking an exam where the delay is almost a half an hour. My exam was scheduled for 8:10 and I’m working with technical support to try to get into the exam room still. It’s 8:40 right now! I haven’t even gotten in past the invasive room check….hate it

Shitty company

Shitty company, I scheduled my exam over 3 times because of their mistakes, lost out on 3 questions because they stopped me. And had to pay over 400$ for 2 test, they don’t care about you and need to be shut down asap

The most over complicated experience…

The most over complicated experience for set up where the software doesn’t even work correctly. Took me well over an hour past my exam time to get set up with them then in the midst of the guy trying to figure out the software issue he disconnected without saying a word and now I’m starting over from square one with my schools assessment support and had the reschedule my other exam scheduled fur the same day. 0/10 stars if I could.

What went wrong

What went wrong; everything you can imagine. This company SUCKS. I have had proctors drop off, incompetent technical support, poor customer service, over the top removal of security features that have nothing to do with testing, excessive evasion of privacy. This is the worst proctoring platform ever.

Absolute Garbage

Absolute Garbage! Im a developer and had a nightmare getting permission for the camera set and had to remove cookies under the app settings and use a different camera option. Then the whole room scan was so bad and unclear what to do especially the first step. Spending an hour on this was dissapointig and i missed my exam because of this even though it showed a start at 16:30pm. I would not recommend using this app or service esspecially for any normal pleb that has no idea how settings work or how to find them.

Dataleak

They keep your ID photos and videos and like in 2020, when they get hacked, all of the information gets leaked. Also some invigilators straight up takes your ID information and uses it as identification theft.

I have used it for university Queen's

I have used it for language test, for university tests and now for licensing tests. It has failed 100% in EACH AND EVERY time I used it. The system is useless and their technicians do not help whatsoever, always refer you to the learning institution even when the technical issues are their own.

Garbage

Garbage, taking my test tomorrow, never used these creeps before. The chat the useless robot asks you questions. then patches you through to a agent.The agent asks the exact same questions. By then im so mad I could just loose it. Whats the point of egtting us to talk to a robot then you and answer the same questions ? Like why .. Sounds like something the liberals would do, Wastes everybodys time and you loose custumers.I AM WRITING THIS EXAM AN I HAVE TRIED TO REACH OUT OVER 6 TIMES. SO I GUESS ILL WRITE IT MY WAY

Do not waste your time with Proctor U

Do not waste your time testing on Proctor U. If you have any other options to take your test, pick one of those! Not only did I have to pay $30, but it also took me close to 2 hours to get into the exam. I had a test session scheduled for 2:30 pm and was finally able to start the exam at 4:15pm. I was staring at the loading session screen for almost 2 hours. I completed all steps before my session time, messaged the support chat 5 different times, restarted the browser as well as my computer, changed wifi networks, and called the immediate help line. I was finally able to get transferred to the help desk for the second time, and they finally let me into the session. This platform negatively affected my test-taking skills when I finally got into the exam, due to the amount of time that I had to sit on my computer beforehand.

Foreign techs from India

Before I could take the test, I had to give them permission to access my computer's settings plus they deleted, turned off, etc., some stuff before I started the test. Now I'm so worried that while I was busy taking the timed exam, they have gotten my personal information from my computer files. The Proctor assistants are from India and that's even worse based on the tech scammers nowadays.
