I'll start with the positives. There are a lot of EXCELLENT and well-established ambient artists on Bandcamp (Steve Roach, Robert Rich and Michael Stearns to name a few). Prices are pretty reasonable and browsing is easy. However, there are a lot of "artists" that are either just beginning or are simply untalented. I can't tell you how many pieces I've downloaded (as part of a package) that consist of five or six notes laid on top of a boring drone. Eight minutes of a 10- or 15-second sequence repeated faithfully isn't my idea of a pleasant experience. My advice - stick with the artists whose work is already familiar to you.

Eigentlich ganz gut, leider mehrmals verkauft worden, dass man den Leuten jetzt aber Stripe aufs Auge drücken will ohne wählen zu können ist ein Unding, da die schon des öfteren dadurch aufgefallen sind Konten einfach mal aus Jux einzufrieren, außerdem hab ich keinen Bock darauf dazu genötigt zu werden bei einer Drittpartei aufwendig ein Konto einzurichten, das ich nicht brauche. Das entscheide ich schon selbst, wenn sich Bandcamp durch Bevormundung unbeliebt machen möchte, dann sei es so, es gibt ja genug Alternativen.

My daughter received her Aimee Fatale merchandise today. I originally left a bad review as she ordered it in September and I didn't think it was going to turn up. However, credit where credit is due, it turned up today with a personalised note from Aimee apologising for the delay. As an apology Aimee included some complementary merchandise to say sorry for time taken to send it. The merchandise was of good quality and my daughter was especially pleased with the handwritten personal note from Aimee.

Absolutely appalling customer service.
Any issues are someone else’s’ problem, either the artist, the label, the bank, the credit card company…
They provide no protection for the buyer using their site….wish I didn’t have to deal with them….

Make sure you download all tracks purchased straight way as they dissapear from your babdcamp account. So have given 5 stars because I havent had a problem to date and cheaper than subscribing monthly to spotify.

Taking money for items you don't have readily available in stock is not a good move. Ordered 2 t -shirts 5 weeks ago... who knows where they are now!

Lost my whole shopping cart. Cannot login as I have to reconfirm my email but I never receive an email (no also not in spam etc). I collected a whole shoppingcart full of track which I wanted to buy. Did many attempts but the whole shoppingcart is gone.

Well I signed up only to wait for an activion email link that I never got so I never got a chance to buy any music lost $5 hopefully I don't get charged any more then that

Bandcamp is a scam. I bought two albums that I never received, and customer service is ignoring me.

Although Bandcamp said delivering my t shirt and my CD could even take a month , the package arrived in one week ! I am pleasantly surprised .

Bandcamp draait puur om geld – kapitalisme in zijn meest basale vorm. Zodra er echter een probleem ontstaat, laten ze je gewoon in de kou staan. De klantenservice is een ramp: soms hoor je pas na drie maanden iets terug, en dan komt het meestal neer op “we kunnen niks doen.”

Maar wat doen ze daar eigenlijk? Producten hoeven ze zelf niet te versturen, dus ik krijg de indruk dat ze vooral druk zijn met geld tellen. Daarnaast is het platform sterk politiek gekleurd: er lijkt maar één kant van het verhaal welkom. Wat daarbij wringt, is dat er wel ruimte blijft voor individuen die zich openlijk antisemitisch uitlaten. Zulke uitingen worden nauwelijks aangepakt, wat niet alleen dubbelzinnig maar ook ronduit kwalijk is.

Dat Bandcamp het blijkbaar normaal vind dat mensen van de kaart geveegd moeten worden, vind ik ronduit stuitend. Dan ben je ergens tegen en dan ga je hetzelfde doen bij anderen? Ook die fascistische sfeer vind ik eng. Het wordt wel steeds gekker daar. Artisten die zich gaan opstellen als politicus en mensenredder... Maar andere keihard uitsluiten, dat is Bandcamp anno 2025.

Bandcamp gibt es schon lange, ich habe es als Musiker lange Zeit gemieden. Seit zwei Jahren bin ich dabei und muss sagen, dass es wirklich unseriös wirkt, besonders, wenn es um Zahlung, Geldeingang und Support geht.
Eine Zahlung per PayPal wurde bei einer Bestellung für einen neuen DJ-Set abgelehnt und stattdessen Kartenzahlung vorgeschlagen. Mit der Debitkarte hat es nicht funktioniert, erst nach mehreren Versuchen mit der Kreditkarte. Beim nächsten Kauf wollte ich gleich mit dieser Karte zahlen, wurde sofort abgelehnt, auch nach mehreren Versuchen. Mit PayPal jeden einzelnen Track einzeln zu bezahlen, war mir dann zu mühsam, zumal es schon einmal nicht funktioniert hatte. Am Ende der Versuche es zu Zahlen bekam ich nur eine Fehlermeldung, und der Inhalt meines Warenkorbs, den ich mühsam über lange Zeit zusammengestellt hatte, wurde gelöscht.
Daraufhin habe ich mir selbst eine Geschenkkarte mit Guthaben gekauft, da ich in verschiedenen Foren gelesen hatte, dass dies problemlos klappt und die bekannten Probleme bei der Zahlung umgeht. Die 100 € wurden auch sofort von meinem Konto abgebucht, aber seit zwei Tagen erhalte ich bei jeder Zahlung die Meldung, dass ich das Guthaben leider nicht nutzen kann, ohne jegliche Begründung. Keine Anwort von Support auch seit 2 Tagen.
Eigentlich wollte ich die Tracks heute Abend noch in einem DJ-Set verwenden wird wohl nichts. Das alles ist einfach weder professionell, zuverlässig noch vertrauenswürdig.

Well they are good at charging your credit card at least. Beyond that you are pretty much persona non grata for purchases of physical media or if anything doesn't go well. LP purchased in early may '25 and not yet received as of 8/4. Understanding delays and even cancellations occur, but after pinging them multiple times, I can get no response from the artist or bandcamp. Don't think I'll be back. Would suggest artists use another delivery channel as these guys are giving you a bad name.
