I have been a member at RCU since about 2011 and I really love them. Before I'd had accounts at Chase and a couple other mainstream banks. Back then I was young and wasn't making a lot, and it really felt like those big corporate banks were trying to squeeze money from me however they could with hidden fees that you can't really dispute because of how powerful they are.
When I opened an account at RCU I was weary, so I specifically asked the manager about hidden fees and overdraft fees and so on. This was at the Santa Rosa branch. They were very patient and transparent with me and they have always been very communicative ever since. It's been well over 10 years now and I really like them. I feel like they really respect and value their members. I feel they treat me like a human instead of a number.
Over the years whenever I've had questions or issues I've messaged them through the online portal in my account and they've always been very prompt and communicative. Even though I don't live in California anymore I still love their service and I am grateful I was able to open an account with them.
