I signed up for this platform to test whether it's suitable for my needs as a moderator when marking my students' papers.
I cancelled within 2 hours of sign-up because the platform did not meet my expectations. On the contrary, when I tested it, it "refined" my own written work into 100% AI-generated work.
I requested a refund but was denied under their Terms and Conditions.
As a consumer, I am protected under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013 (UK) as well as the EU Consumer Rights Directive (2011/83/EU), which provides a 14-day cooling-off period for online purchases, including digital services. These rights cannot be waived by Terms of Use unless there has been clear, informed consent to waive the right of withdrawal and full performance of the service has begun.
I will proceed to escalate the matter through my payment provider (chargeback), as well as report this as a potential abuse of consumer rights to relevant consumer protection bodies and appropriate online business and regulatory forums.

I received their feedback saying the following:

I have a principal problem with this horrible response.
I have been in contact with them via the support email they suggested from the start (specifically Alina), and I was told they would not refund me.
So their solution is to send me back and forth in the same loop of communications?
This company is a scam, and I urge people not to make the same mistake. Just take a look at the rest of their reviews. Says the same thing.

Its a scam! Please, stay away!
I subscribed for their 3-day trial. Then i decided that i do not like their premium service due to how generic it is, so i canceled it.
But then i realize, that you have to contact them to cancel the subscription.
I realize something sketchy was going on, so i decided to check the reviews and stumbled by their trustpilot reviews, which is this.
I was shocked to learn that they're scamming their customers, when i check my bank account, they took atleast 51.000 IDR (which is around 3 USD). When its supposed to only take 0.99 on the first 3 days.
I realize that this was not a "trial" at all, and i immidiately contacted the bank to block my bank account.
Now, im in the process of making a new bank account. So please, for anybody who hasn't fallen for their scam. DO NOT SUBSCRIBE!

If I could give it a zero star rating, I would it charged me $33.99 when it was only supposed to be charged $0.99 Au per day for the first three days so it is definitely a scam and I have now have to lock my card and call the back

Schrecklich wirklich. Man tippt auf das einmalige zahlen von 2,99€ und im Endeffekt werden einem dazu nochmal 19,99€ abgezogen. Ich dachte menno aber gut damit ist es erledigt… stellt sich heraus ich hab anscheinend ein Abo gekauft was ich nie getan hab. Finds peinlich jetzt dass ich drauf reingefallen bin aber was soll ich machen… hab direkt paypal käuferschutz gemacht und denen jetzt eine email zum kündigen geschickt und hoffe die antworten. Bin schockiert.

Prdukt ist sehr schlecht, Kündigung nicht möglich gewesen, somit 2 Monate fast 40 euro bezahlt, bis ich raus gefunden habe wie ich kündigen kann. Insgesamt ist das ein Scam/ggf. Betrügerische seite.

refinely.io just tried to defraud me of $39 for a three days trial that should only cost me $2.99 US. They are a scam. Now I am concerned that they have my bank details and who knows what they can do with it. My bank immediately blocked my card after three transactions of £3.87, £2.32 and £0.58 left my account. They then say that they would be taking $39 monthly after that.

Nachdem ich für das probeabo 2,99€ gezahlt habe ist ein Pop up Fenster erschienen, ob ich nicht für 20€ 20000 Wörter mehr kaufen möchte. Ich bin drauf gegangen, um zu sehen was es auf sich hat, hab aber nirgends nochmal einen Kauf autorisiert. Paar Tage später sehe ich, dass mir 20€ abgebucht wurden. Auf Nachfrage, hieß es nur: wir erstatten kein Geld zurück. Totale Frechheit

Nach Buchung der 7 Tage Version für 2,99€ wurde das Geld abgebucht aber kein Abo wurde aktiviert und kein Text zum Download freigegeben.
Es wird ein automatisches Einzugsverfahren erstellt. Das muss manuell gekündigt werden.

This company uses deceptive billing practices. They lure you in with a 7-day trial for €2.99, but nowhere clearly disclose that you’ll be charged €39.99 once the trial ends. I was charged without proper notice.
I cancelled the payment and emailed them, and they have not responded.
Overall, this is misleading at best and dishonest at worst. I strongly recommend staying away.

Vorsicht. Abzocke! Es wurde ausschließlich die Testversion zum Preis von 2,99 EUR gebucht. Eine weitergehende Buchung oder der Abschluss eines Abonnements war zu keinem Zeitpunkt vereinbart oder autorisiert.
Unmittelbar nach Abschluss der Testbuchung öffnete sich eine weitere Seite, die nicht ohne Weiteres geschlossen oder umgangen werden konnte. Beim Verlassen („Wegklicken“) dieser Seite wurde ohne ausdrückliche Zustimmung eine zweite Abbuchung in Höhe von 19,99 EUR vorgenommen und zugleich ein Abonnement ausgelöst.
Dieses Vorgehen ist nicht vertragskonform und stellt eine irreführende und unzulässige Geschäftspraxis dar.
