Extremely Disappointed – Privacy Breach and No Accountability
I had an awful experience with SHEIN and feel compelled to warn others.
I ordered a product that required me to upload personal photos. Shockingly, SHEIN sent my private photos to another customer by mistake. This was not just inconvenient — it was a serious privacy breach that ruined what was meant to be a special Father’s Day gift.
When I raised the issue with SHEIN, their response was completely inadequate. They offered me a $7.95 refund, which in no way reflects the seriousness of what happened. They refused to explain how the breach occurred, take responsibility, or provide any meaningful resolution.
Instead, I received generic apologies that ignored the real issue. Their approach made me feel dismissed, disrespected, and extremely disappointed.
This is not about the money — it’s about trust and accountability. A company that mishandles personal data and then refuses to properly address it does not deserve consumer confidence.
I am now escalating my complaint to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) for the privacy breach and the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) for their failure to handle the matter appropriately.
⚠️ If you value your privacy and customer service, I strongly recommend thinking twice before ordering from SHEIN.

Worst customer service I’ve ever experienced. I returned my items exactly as instructed, using the courier SHEIN recommends. The tracking shows it was delivered, but SHEIN keeps repeating that they “can’t locate the package” and flat-out refuses to refund me.
I sent proof of delivery, tracking info, and even photos of every item I returned. Still, nothing. Just copy-paste responses with no real help, no accountability, and no refund.
I’ve wasted time, money, and energy over something that should’ve been simple. They took my items AND my money.
This company clearly does not care about customers once they’ve been paid. Zero responsibility. Zero support. I’ll never shop with them again, and I strongly recommend others avoid them too — unless you’re okay with losing your money when something goes wrong.

Scam customer service
I ordered a two piece set from SHEIN and when it arrived, shirt was missing in package.
I opened a case and emailed their customer service and provided SKU number of missing item.
In reply email, they asked me to send photo of SKU from bag in which package arrived, I sent that photo. Then reply email they wrote photo is not clear (although before emailing it , I made sure photo is clear). Anyways I sent another more clear photo.
then next day they wrote back ‘send photo of bag without item’, I sent that too.
After that they replied, ‘send photo with item’.
I believe they are purposefully wasting my time so that I stop replying to them and they won’t have to pay me back. It’s a SCAM.
Very frustrating and disappointing experience :(

Joke of a company, partner received 5 broken glasses due to poor packaging, she returned them for a refund,she received a refund for 1 when enquired about the others she was told they didn't receive them,my partner then sent proof Australia Post had returned them so they then said only received 1 even though my partner sent photos of the broken ones been repacked prior to returning them,they will never be getting another cent from us and will be contacting consumer affairs about these ripoffs

I love purchasing off Shein. I would say I am an unknown ambassador, it is my go to store. Since covid and my transplant, I have really stopped shopping in physical stores due to crowded places and wanting to avoid it as much as possible, because of my low immune system. You should always look at the reviews of the products. Sometimes the quality and style of the clothing item you purchase may not always suit you but refunding the product is easy.
You just organise it all on the app, if you are having difficulties you can always communicate to them via facebook chat.
I have never had any issues refunding my goods unless it states that it is not refundable. So you must make sure that the item you get is eligible for a refund after purchase.
Flash Sale items are never refundable so make sure you know your measurements and once again check reviews.
Remember most clothing items are probably in asian sizing so may be a little off but the great thing about Shein is if your buy it, try it and it is eligible for refund you can refund it. For free return.
You can even use the same bag that it came in to send it back in. They give you 2 sending options post office or a company that does parcelpoint drop offs. I live in Melbourne so I choose whichever is convenient for me the only difference is parcelpoint you got to print out the refund barcode but post office if you work during the week 9 - 5 then it is hard. But I have a supportive husband who does it for me if I can't do it.

My elderly mother was unexpectedly taken by hospital by ambulance, admitted to hospital with life-threatening sepsis. I have had to care for my mother in her own since she was discharged from hospital. I was living away from my home and unable to attend ti my usual activities. I was 7 days over the 45 day return period and this Profitable company would not allow me a refund or credit to my account for clothing that i was only able to try on when i arrived home on that 7th day after the 45 day return period. This company has no compassion for life trauma and the fact that i have been a long-time customer. Not even the decency of a credit to my account in my unusual circumstances!! I will now continue making purchases with Temu and never again with SHEIN. Temu was only to happy to help me with a refund in these same circumstances. Ta ta SHEIN, not just from me but also from all my family members, friends, work colleagues and associates. Hard earned monies will no longer be spent with your company.
