I am writing a review of a few issues.
I arranged for some finger tattoos to be done for my special birthday .
We arranged for it to be done 2 weeks before my birthday so that they could be touched up if needed. We booked up, paid the deposit, and sent the photos all on the link.
The only email received was adds about other skins and needle shops. Luckily I had taken screenshots of it saying deposit paid the tattooist and the date.
On the day we had to wait nearly 25 minutes until the tattooist strolled in with a greggs hot drink. Yes, everyone is entitled to a morning cupper, but it would have been good customer service to apologise for the lateness.
While waiting, we watched 2 of the staff( piercer and apprentice) having sneaky vapes in between people coming in and out.
The tattooist came down and said about my 3 finger tattoos, which I immediately questioned as I had booked for 12 small tattoos, and the reception said no only 3 pictures came through.
I was explained to them that not only did the link have the 12 pictures before the time and price showed and deposit paid , but also they had been sent in an email when we contacted find out the price and if they had a tattooist willing.
It was sorted, and the photos were sent again to the tattooists' own email.
We went up, and it began . The tattooist was interrupted numerous times so that they could speak about other customers. One, he actually went down to speak to the person. He then said that after one had, he was having 5 minutes and came back with a greggs cupper.
During the tattoos, 2 were taken from a printout, and the rest free hand. It would have been better if all were printouts and placed before tattooing instead of individual drawing and tattooing per finger because they would have been placed better and corrected if needed, whereas there are a few not tattooed in the middle of the finger or distorted .
We left and gave it time to heal. So we understood about finger tattoos and the issues, so when we saw the touch-up needed, we arranged an appointment .
We went the day before my birthday sat waiting, waiting for another staff member (tattooist)vaping. The tattooist we had booked when told it was his next appointment for finger tattoo touch up the tattooist while walking up the stairs said loud enough for us to hear that this is his last time doing finger tattoos.
While he was redoing them I could very clearly tell he was irritated about having to do it . This showed in his work while he was wiping he was being very Heavy-handed which was terrible compared to the last time he originally tattooed them.
We paid for a service and if he didn't want to do fingers he should have pulled out from the start.
I was so upset with the experience that once we got into the car I began to cry.
These were Extremely important to me as they represented important decisions and people in my life.
I am absolutely disgusted with the whole experience with this company and the customer service that we will never go to this company again. We will also advise anyone we know to also seek assistance elsewhere.

I wouldn't recommend this place in York for piercings, absolute nightmare, inexperienced piercers, horrible placement at an angle and left horrible piercing bumps after 7 months. They don't even use proper titanium. When I went back they just told me to keep cleaning it, so had to go to That place to get it removed- much better.

I had an appointment with Pemba today…
I had searched Pinterest for ideas and took some pictures with me…
Pemba took his time, and down to the finest detail added some free hand and erased parts until he came up with the perfect design…
He listens carefully, and his attention to detail is second to none….
He created a beautiful and unique piece of art..
I am absolutely elated with the result and would highly recommend Pemba,on top of his work, he has a very pleasant demeanour, making you feel comfortable and at ease…

First ever tattoo. Hate needles. I had been thinking about having a memorial tattoo, but due to my absolute fear of needles i kept putting it off.
I finally enquired. Sent a couple of ideas of what I wanted. Ric from Middlesbrough is AMAZING!
Everything was explained, design explored and then the tattoo carried out. Not what I was expecting. Ric went at my pace and is FANTASTIC! Ric went above and beyond and has created my tattoo that's even better than I expected (or explained).
I would definitely recommend Ric from Middlesbrough Skins & Needles! I am sure I will be back!

Ive been pierced by Ian and Aaliyah, both from Skins and Needles in York and I can say they are both absolutely AMAZING!!
I have 40 piercings, so fair to say Ive been to a few piercers over the years, but none were as warm, friendly, helpful and professional as these two!
I couldnt recommend them enough. FAB!! ❤️❤️

I visited the Durham branch this is the second tattoo I had both times by Adam.
He’s a very good artist he did exactly what I asked for
He made sure I was happy with the transfer before he went ahead with the tattoo.
He asked if I was ok pain wise and just to let him know if I wanted a break but I was fine.
The hygiene is top notch cleaned down after every client
I would recommend anyone to go and it’s reasonably priced.I wouldn’t go anywhere else Carol

Where do i start… If I could give 0 stars I would. I initially had an appointment at 10am today which they then contacted me to reschedule to 3pm with a different tattooist (had no issue with this). So after travelling 30 minutes to get my tattoo done, I arrived to be told inside the parlour that the tattooist is not going to have time to do my tattoo. The excuse was the tattoo artist told him only 10 minutes before i arrived. Firstly, why was I not called to be told this rather than waiting for me to arrive? Secondly, what tattoo artist only knows 10 MINUTES before his next appointment that he won’t have time? Where’s the professionalism? Will not be returning… complete joke. Would love my petrol money with my deposit.

I feel it’s important to leave this review as a warning to others considering getting pierced by Jodie (York store)

I had a rook piercing done which has unfortunately been pierced incorrectly. The placement and angle were not suitable for my anatomy, leading to significant pain, swelling, and ongoing issues shortly afterwards. I have since had to remove the jewellery to allow the area to heal properly.
Not only that the swelling then went onto another piercing which I had to take out because it was so sore and inflamed.
After seeking advice elsewhere, I was informed the piercing was poorly positioned, which explains the complications I experienced. This has been frustrating and upsetting, as piercings are permanent procedures that require proper knowledge, assessment, and technique. You should feel reassured that someone doing piercings is FULLY QUALIFIED AND CAPABLE not to damage or cause any harm!

After my experience, I looked through previous reviews and noticed several others reporting similar problems, which is quite concerning.
How is Jodie still doing body piercing it’s dangerous!!

I would strongly advise anyone thinking of getting pierced here to do thorough research beforehand and ensure you feel completely confident in the piercer’s experience and standards. I hope this feedback encourages improvements so others do not have the same experience

Jodie as a person is nice but please as a piercer this is something you need more training in or stop completely.

Highly RECOMMEND going to THAT PLACE York who has outstanding reviews and is honest with what is good or not good to be pierced

Had my haircut by Tyler Booth, quality haircut and in good time.. very presentable and talkative through out! Would defo recommend him as top barber in the future

Had lots of black line work to start a sleeve, artist did what I asked which was good, but quickly started falling out after a couple of weeks, lines were not clean, and overall tattoo work was poor, not naming artist but seemed very young and inexperienced and now on my 5th removal session. Studio booked me in with this junior artist who is now at another branch and who was very inexperienced and now Two removal clinics have stated artist has gone way too deep with line work and consequently already hard tattoos to remove are even harder.

I went to get my ears pierced earlier today by Sarah M and it was amazing. She was really lovely to talk to and very welcoming. If i’m being honest most of the piercing shops i’ve been to in london have been absolutely dreadful so i will definitely be going to skins and needles again. I really recommend it here, especially if you plan on getting your ears pierced by Sarah.

Great service on buying gift cards as we live abroad and my son will only use skins and needles for his tattoos! Artists are very experienced and take care while inking

The service at the Middlesbrough location was disappointing. The piercer was not only unkind but also unaccommodating, dropping my earring twice and then using it after retrieving it from the ground. Despite numerous endorsements that drew me to this place, the recommended piercer, Kym, was no longer there, and the staff would not disclose her new location. I regret not leaving immediately.

Recently visited York studio and got a conch piercing was a bit nervous at first but the lovely girl who did my piercing called Jodie was very friendly and professional put me at ease talked thru every step what she was doing and wasn’t as bad as I’d thought 😀 Thankyou Jodie

AVOID MEL! Over 1year on he messed up a very sentimental tattoo. He ignores all emails after being given many months & chances to resolve. The studio will not help with contacting him, in refunding me or even an apology. since Mel's mistake ive hand to undergo laser removal ready for a cover up. due to the lack of skill & Care! Disgraceful service from the start sadly I paid the price!

I came in last week for my helix piercing, very polite and welcoming staff, I didn’t catch the name of the lovely lady at reception but the woman who peirced me was called Jody and she made me feel very comfortable through out the whole process. Overall amazing experience! Will be back!

Way over priced for York area i went in to discuss designs first of all rude member of staff then consultation with an artist that just did not seem intrested at all. I wanted a full sleave and other tattoos ill go elsewhere based on first impressions would not recommend do your research other studios in York as good if not better and rates cheaper. Cannot justify sky high prices and terrible customer service

I recently got tattooed by Antonia at Durham, Skins, and I honestly couldn’t be happier with the entire experience from start to finish. From the moment I walked into the studio, everything felt clean, calm, and welcoming. The space itself is spotless, well-organised, and has a really relaxed, professional atmosphere that makes you feel confident you’re in great hands. Antonia was incredible — not only highly skilled but also patient, gentle, friendly, and easy to talk to throughout the session. She took the time to discuss my design ideas in detail, made thoughtful suggestions, and it turned out better than I imagined. The linework and shading are immaculate, and she provided clear aftercare advice. Booking was simple and straightforward, and the whole team were friendly and accommodating. I’m already planning my next piece with Antonia. I wouldn’t go anywhere else.
