I invested in a two year bond with interest paid at maturity as part of a strategy to minimise tax liability. After one year the interest was paid to me incurring a tax liability because the account then exceeded £85k. This was not clearly stated at the outset and has resulted in a tax liability this financial year of £800…I.e has cost me £800.

Easy secure website, competitive rates to save

This is a reinvestment with smartsave all went ahead without problems. my only problem is getting into the web site which seems to have to be refreshed a couple of times before i can get onto the site.

good rates of interest but virtually impossible to get to speak to anyone if have a problem. they use live chat but have no phone number. had 2 separate problems which needed attention and you waste an awful lot of time going round in circles because there is no phone number. on live chat they offer to phone you back within one working day but that is hopeless if you are in meetings.

Does exactly what it says and great customer service. Money in and after a year money out no bother.

Very poor maturity process, which my husband complained about in April and they ignored and did not uphold the complaint and then when my own account went through the same appalling maturity process I complained and they upheld this which was exactly the same issue, my husband even asked them to look at the customer journey, which they supposedly pride themselves on, but still didn’t see the issue in April.
