We booked a room in Atlanta for 3 days. It was only AFTER we provided the credit card information and they charged us, that they informed us we had to upload a copy of my drivers' license on the internet. We informed them due to privacy and online hacking that is prevalent today, I would NOT put the ID on the internet but would happily show it to the front desk upon our arrival. A few hours later, we called them back to ask them to cancel. The person with whom we spoke informed us that since they did not receive a copy of the license, we would not be billed. We booked a room at a different hotel and did not stay at the Sonder accommodation. Upon reviewing the credit card statement online the following week, they did charge us. I have filed a dispute with the credit card company. I am also notifying booking.com. I will never use booking.com again. All of this could have been avoided had they made us aware of their requirement to upload a DL BEFORE we provided payment.

Not Happy

Second time to reserve my stay in New Orleans at Canal Street. Traveled with friend asked for a room lower floor and handicapped as possible. Was put on the 16th floor with steps. Took us forever to move luggage. Get our room AC did not work ice machine out of the freezer did not work. Called the number begging to be moved to a lower floor that is close to elevator and ice machine works and AC 2 flights down closer to elevator ice machine did not work. I personally will not stay in a place like this again. You need someone as a guest service in the lobby. I have’s worked in the hospitality industry for 20years Was a quality control for Holiday Inns when owned this would not pass my requirements. You need to check your properties better. Thank you

Dishonest

I booked a hotel at Sonder through Booking.com (owned by Priceline), and I was informed over the phone that the total would be $790.02, which I authorized. However, the call dropped before I could confirm, and I was charged $892.72 instead, which is $102.70 more than the agreed amount. After disputing the charge due to the unauthorized amount, Sonder canceled my reservation. Sonder's email stated that refunds are not issued for cancellations, but it is unfair to charge customers an amount different from what was agreed upon. Sonder then pushed back on my dispute. I don’t recommend doing business with either Booking.com or Sonder as they are dishonest and shady

Beware of Sonder!

This review is regarding a Sonder property (The High Note) in Nashville, TN. A group of 19 rented two
units at this property in November 2023 for an arrival date of July 25, 2024. On July 23rd at 7:26pm EST
we received a text and email that our reservation had been cancelled. We called Sonder within 30
minutes of receiving the notice. A customer service representative stated Sonder is no longer managing
this property as of our arrival date of 07/25. They did not try to relocate us nor did they provide us with
any other options. Sonder literally cancelled our reservations less than 48 hours prior to our arrival. How
does a management company not provide notice of the company switch, relocate or provide any
options more than 48 hours prior to arrival? The customer service representatives were not empathetic
and were rather insulting. Apparently, they are trained to respond with "...mmm...". The fact that they
did not notify us timely or try to relocate us was extremely frustrating, unprofessional and feels
unethical. A group of 19 professionals (many who deal with hospitality) were traveling for a birthday and
none of us have ever been treated so poorly by a management company. Luckily, we found two bigger
and less expensive places to rent and continue with our planned trip. We will never look for another
Sonder property and all I can say is good luck to whoever uses them because this is not the first
complaint of cancelled reservations at the last moment.

Sonder is a scam they will charge you an extra cleaning fee

Stayed in Chicago aug of 2022 for my sister’s 40th birthday. There were 3 of is in a 3 bedroom apt. After checkout they sent me a picture of.. get this…. TWO single pieces of confetti and 2 balloons (4&0) placed neatly next to the garbage can. They said that because of us “leaving the apt in disarray” they would be charging an additional $85 cleaning fee and it was a final decision. There was no disputing it. This company is an absolute SCAM which is why you can’t find any public reviews with their listings. I am disgusted by Sonder and cannot urge you to find an alternative option enough. 1-star. Would never stay again.

Worst stay ever!

Worst stay ever!

The room was in the 5th floor and boiling from the roof. Tiny room, tiny bathroom, no air conditioner just a terribly noisy fan.
One of the bathroom wall hooks was broken.
The price was not relevant at all with the quality.

Wouldn't recommend at all!

Terrible Experience, Avoid at All Costs

I booked a stay in Nashville via the Sonder site on June 17th, 2024. On June 22nd, I received two emails stating that my reservation had been cancelled and that "this decision was final." I assumed it was because I had recently gone through fraudulent activity on the credit card I used. Even though the transaction was "pending," I figured the payment didn't go through once my credit card was frozen.

I didn't think much of it and went on to book another hotel via Expedia with my new credit card.

Today, I noticed that the Sonder payment was STILL charged on my credit card. I figured, okay, no problem, I'll call them and tell them to give me the money back. I spoke to a man named Alvin, who, after keeping me on hold for several minutes, told me that because it was past 24 hours since the reservation was made, they won't be giving me the money back. I explained that I was NOT the one who cancelled the reservation—they did—and still charged my account. He responded with, "I understand. But we're still not returning the money." I WAS SHOCKED.

Sonder, it's clear you are thieves and not operating in a respectful or professional manner. Avoid Sonder at all costs!

Be careful when booking we Sonder. We booked Sonder the Score in Nashville, 4 days prior to our visit , they changed us to Sonder at the Stat , stating they no longer used the Score,this was 1 mile away from where we had booked, after 3 days of haggling about the price, which was £500 less than we paid ,we were reimbursed with £297, at 3pm on the day of our arrival we received a text stating that we were now staying at village 21, and were told if we didn’t like the room we could cancel and have a full refund. We arrived at Village 21 at 11.45 pm ,the apartment was really good , however the next day we realised that we were 3.2 miles away from our original apartment. We have contacted Sonder many times re a refund or compensation, they don’t want to know. Village 21 apartment was really good but was too far out to where we wanted to be.

Terrible experience derailed trip plans

Terrible experience
They asked for scans of passport and face pics to check in, then cancelled several hours before check in, leaving me scrambling to book a less ideal hotel and causing lots of stress. They couldn't tell me why nor fix it. They may be scamming for passport info or something, either way ignore the good reviews, they may have good rooms but they are not reliable or professional at all and have no accountability to paying customers

Sonder Platt Street - a great choice

We stayed in Sonder Platt Street right in the heart of downtown in the financial district. A fabulous location for all amenities - eating, groceries and subways. Our 2 bedroom apartment slept 6, was fully kitted out with modern appliances and had 2 bathrooms. It was a little tired decoration wise but was clean, comfortable and everything worked. We felt very safe there and it will be our first choice again when we return to NYC. I highly recommend staying here - the floor space you get compared with a hotel is unbelievable, especially for New York.

Cockroach infestations and inaccurate photos

We stayed at Sonder in DC and NYC, both rooms had cockroach infestations and looked nothing like the photos. Our NYC Sonder had massive construction works which must’ve had a special permit for 24/7 construction.
It’s a budget option for a reason.

Avoid the Sonder Hotel Chain! They are thieves and liars.

I have to agree with the many reviews by people who have been screwed out of their money. I booked a hotel with the Sonder Rideau in Ottawa and couldn't get past the verification process as mentioned by other people. I wasn't allowed to bypass the verification even after calling a Sonder agent in Chicago (I believe) who was not able to help with the process. As a result, I couldn't check into the hotel and had to book a hotel elsewhere. I have tried to get a refund (as many others have) and keep getting the run-around and useless excuses and promises that never materialize. I have emailed nearly 20 times with responses from about 10 different people always promising a refund that never happened. I have to conclude with the many other complaints on this site that Sonder Hotels are some kind of a scam and downright thieves. I don't know how they can get away with it. My next step will be to contact the Better Business Bureau. I advise anyone considering Sonder Hotels to avoid them. Find yourself a reputable hotel chain.

Very poor customer service when things…

Very poor customer service when things go wrong. Broken equipment in the room & multiple noise complaints left.
You get the attitude of “tough we have your money now” then you get lots of “sorry” but no real action.
A voucher for money of my next stay was offered but I requested to speak to management as I wouldn’t be staying again , so the offer was not ideal. I was promised a call/email from (Brian) management.
Well I’m still waiting for this ….
Very disappointing over all experience vs the cost.

Do not use them!!!

Booked a room with them to attend a convention in July. Had it confirmed and even receiving a booking number. Over 24 hours later, I received an email (not a call) that my booking was cancelled. When I called to ask why it had been booked, they told me another agent had double booked the room and cancelled my reservation. They offered to comp me a similar room but they were full up and told me to screw myself. They were unwilling to comp a different room for their mistake. It's ridiculous that they can send you a confirmation number, and cancel it a whole day after because of their screw up. I'm pretty sure this is borderline illegal.

Just stay in a hotel…

Sonder is located in an apartment complex in Toronto. It’s sort of like Airbnb, and just like Airbnb, if there are no problems, there are no problems. If there are problems, you will be cheated out of your money , Stuck in a foreign country with no place to stay, and depending on your emotional reaction, a potentially ruined vacation.

Certe de beaux emplacements mais des appartements très mal entretenus
Après multiples expériences je dois dire qu’on ne reviendra plus jamais
Avec cette dernière expérience ils ont touché le fond !
Des voleurs d’argent et de “vacances sereines”
Dans les résidences avec aussi Des appartements très médiocres loués au même prix que d’autres qui servent de “vitrine” pour attirer.
