Do NOT Stay with Sonder
I recently stayed at a Sonder in New Orleans and upon arrival there was a weird hand print on the wall of the bedroom. There were also 2 startling emergency evacuations in one night between the hours of 1-3 am. There was also a big puddle of leaking water in the kitchen.
When I contacted customer service through the chat, I let them know my concerns and requested a refund. They made up every excuse not to refund me and were rude along the way.
This is not the first issue I have had with them. They are a terrible company. If I could give 0 stars I would.
HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE the web site log…
HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE the web site log in would not work, hours on the phone, could not create a work-around for their website issues.
They cancelled a paid reservation, to increase the price 3 times and lied about it,
I booked a long stay rental apartment 2 month ago for this coming summer, paid for it, had to go through all the required background and credit report check, which I thought was a bit excessive, but it was approved, and I paid the first month in full. Today I get a message that my reservation was cancelled. A follow up email stated: " Due to unforeseen circumstances, we will be closing our Vicinity prior to your arrival June 29 - August 24. While we would love to host you at one of our other locations, we do not have similar accommodations available at this time. We have therefore canceled your stay and processed a refund for the full amount of your stay $2,488.16 which you should see returned to your bank account within the next 7-10 business days" To my surprise, I called and the same apartment I had booked was now available for rent at 6400$. So, the email was a lie, they cancelled my paid reservation so that they could rent the place for 3 times higher the price. That is an unfortunate business model!
Una settimana a New York stupenda.
Tutto perfetto.prezzi assurdi, stanza enorme, customer service h24, centralissimo a Manhattan.
THESE PEOPLE ARE SCAMS!!!!!!
These people were horrible!!! I booked an Airbnb with Sonder in November. Before I booked it I did see there was a no cancellation policy. So I checked to see if they allowed to change the dates if needed & they did so I booked with them. Unfortunately we got hit with a bad snow storm and my flight was cancelled. I tried to pick new dates & they denied my request & said they have a strict no cancellation/no refund policy. That’s great because I wasn’t trying to cancel nor was I asking for a refund!!! They basically told me too bad. So I contacted Airbnb & they told me they had to honor the host Sonder & did nothing for me! I am highly upset since the weather is out of my control & if they do not let you make changes THEY SHOULD POST THAT!!!!!!! What a terrible experience & waste of $270!
Check reviews first!!!
One star is an over-rating for this company. I booked accommodation in Palm Springs in October for a mid-January stay. I spent hours deciding where to stay while in Palm Springs. The original accommodation was chosen because of location as well as amenities. I made arrangements with friends to meet up with me at this location and I did not plan on having a car. All was paid for and confirmed until one week before my visit, at which time, I was sent notice that they were unable to accommodate me at the original hotel. Without informing me first, they moved my reservation to a different location. I had no say in this. The alternative location (3 miles away) was a 1960s property that did not meet my needs, nor did it even compare to the original booking. Their approach to the inconvenience was to give me a 15% discount. They claimed that they had no other units available. This was the best they could do. Nobody should tolerate a company assuming that someone will simply be happy with whatever last-minute change THEY decide to make. Like others, I wish I had checked the HORRIBLE reviews that this company has before booking through them. I will NEVER do business with them again.
I wish I would have checked out reviews…
I wish I would have checked out reviews before booking! I booked a two bedroom, two bathroom apartment in downtown Minneapolis New Year’s Eve weekend. I’ve been on and off calls about this place and I’m exhausted. But needless to say, it was totally misrepresented in pictures and description. There was only one bathroom. And the second bedroom really shouldn’t count as a bedroom. It’s a room with no window and no closets and no ventilation. And they put a bed in there. It just didn’t work out for four senior adults. I will never stay in a Sonder property again. Beware!
BEWARE!!! TERRIBLE SERVICE!!
BEWARE!!!! This site says cancellation by "4pm Jan 2" for a full refund. So I did call both the owner and airbnb befre 4pm Jan 2 but they are refusing to give me a full refund. Apparently "4pm" means "4pm local time." They could easily be straightforward and say cancellation by 4pm "Local time" but they don't. I called before 4pm to cancel because my husband got Covid and the owner said I had to call airbnb, I called airbnb and they said it was up to the owner. I had to follow up multiple times to get a response and now two days later airbnb said the owner told Airbnb that if I called before Jan 2 (which is actually not what the policy says at all) they would have given me a full refund but now they are refusing to make an exception so no full refund. Way to go Sonder, your refund policy is deceptive and your consideration for a customer is non-existent. Even with your secret policy I was about an hour or so off your deadline, and with a case of Covid, so it's very short sighted to lose a customer for good, to create ill will, and to have someone who will now recommend to anyone who asks to avoid Sonder.
Nightmare Stay at Sonder The Deco – Avoid at All Costs
My stay at Sonder The Deco (Dec 29, 2023 - Jan 2, 2024, Confirmation Code: 145252946) was an absolute disaster, a far cry from what any decent hotel experience should be.
First off, the check-in process was a complete joke. Left to fend for ourselves with an app that required a code we never received, the reception was less than helpful. It took multiple pleas to get any assistance.
The room was a horror story. We walked into a dirty room – an immediate red flag considering their exorbitant rates. But the real nightmare was the air quality – or the lack thereof. The windows were fully fogged, the room unbearably damp. Our clothes were drenched in moisture, reeking of mustiness. Desperate for some air, we resorted to opening the door to the corridor!
We asked for cleaning – a request so simple yet apparently too complex for their staff. Ivan, whom we spoke to, completely forgot to log our request, leaving us in those dismal conditions.
Interacting with Anna at reception was like talking to a wall – only worse, as she continuously interrupted and dismissed our concerns.
This place is a farce, charging $315 a night for what can only be described as a stay in a damp, neglected chamber with appalling service. I strongly urge anyone considering this place to rethink. It's not worth your money or peace of mind. Save yourself the trouble and find somewhere else that actually values its guests.
If I could give a zero, I would
If I could give a zero, I would. We stayed at Penny Lane in Montreal. There was a mouse/rat in our unit. I contacted them and kept getting robot auto messages. The 999 so called positive reviews imho are also bot generated. Needless to say we got out of there fast.
Filthy conditions, 22 hours to show up
My family stayed at Sonder 211 M 7th in Nashville TN. In The sheets we found bugs, hair, and crumbs in the sheets on the bed and the sofa bed (I have photos), and a smear of blood on one of the top sheets. The walls were dirty with brown food, black handprints and scuffs. The floors weren’t vacuumed and the carpet was stained. The marble table in the living room was broken. I called (seven times) and exchanged more tgan a dozen texts in which I was promised this would be addressed. I asked to be relocated but the phone rep said they said they had no space left at the property. We were told housekeeping would take care of the problem and we could not occupy the property while it was being cleaned. We stayed out of the rental for 6 hours (we were asked to vacate at 9 a.m.), but it was 22 hours between our request for a sanitary place to sleep before someone showed up (a borrowed employee from another hotel) only to change sheets and vacuum. Thankfully American Express, (the booking agent), contacted the supervisor and got someone in immediately to clean. To this date, I received a $100 credit for the inconvenience but no response to my request to speak with supervisor (3 days!). I write this review in hopes that other families consider seriously what they see online vs. what they get.
I stayed in this hotel on December 16
I stayed in this hotel on December 16, 2023 and Philadelphia Pennsylvania area to Whitman. My stuff was stolen. I was told to put it in a locker which I did I said the code it was locked I come back to get my stuff and it has been taken. They took everything for me. The hotel is a piece of crap they do not help they say they’re not responsible for my stuff getting installed in, but they did not read me the rules and regulations they did not have me sign anything stating that anything got taken they were not responsible for it. This hotel is horrible. I filed a police report. I cannot get anybody to get in touch with me to help me I would really really recommend you do not stay at this hotel. If anything goes wrong, you are out of luck. Do not stay here.
Where is my refund??!
Be very careful with this company. I booked 2 apartments in Rome, they took the full amount from my credit card and they cancelled the reservation from one day to the other. I am still waiting for a refund, they said maybe I will have my money back in 2 weeks?!!
Stayed at The Nash in New York
Stayed at The Nash in New York. Unit was very old and run down. Bathroom tub had mold all around the base grout. Floors ancient and worn. This was my first stay. For the rate of $500/night I should have stayed in a hotel with better accommodations. I chose Sonder based on a friends recommendation. Never again.
The Airbnb from hell
My worst Airbnb experience in 10 countries. This rental is from a large company called Sonder. I wish we had reviewed their hundreds of bad reviews on Trustpilot before renting from them. Once we discovered the bad reviews they refused to let us cancel. Next, they required that we check in on a questionably unsecure third party platform (including ID and biometrics) which was not disclosed in the entry. The unit was dirty when we arrived, not cleaned even after discussed with the host and they refused to bring us cleaning supplies to clean it ourselves. The unit we stayed in was not the same as the unit in the pictures and it did not have the listed amenities - for example no heat. Our kids both got colds while staying here. The laundry room was not stocked with soap as disclosed in the listing. It was impossible to get an answer out of Sonder. Each reply was a different person in a call center, with a different canned / automatic reply. Run away from Sonder.

My family booked Sonder’s Taman Condesa…
My family booked Sonder’s Taman Condesa for the week of my daughter’s September 2023 wedding. My daughter and her fiancé toured Taman in March 2023 and ultimately chose the property for its two bedroom units, location, and amenities. When viewing the building, they saw a sizable birthday party (with music, decorations, and catered food) being held on the rooftop deck. They were ecstatic to learn that parties of this sort are allowed to all guests of the property, and that they could host their tornaboda (day-after-wedding gathering) on the rooftop. Not only did they confirm this plan that day, but also in several phone conversations and written emails with Sonder staff leading up to their wedding later that year.
Fast forward to the day after the wedding: Caterers arrived at the double doors and check-in area only to be told parties were against “House Rules”, No “House Rules” were provided upon booking; the groom’s mother offered to host the caterers in her private unit. We told guests to grab a plate and head to the roof. This plan did not work long as the Taman front desk locked access to the roof. Guests were stuck in the hallway with plates of hot food until we decided on Plan C: the courtyard. We ate and chatted in the common space courtyard. We tried to access the other common areas and those too were locked. We were guests that had paid to stay there and have use of their facilities but were told we couldn't use any. We congregated in the lower grassy area when a very large man who claimed to be the manager asked us, "how many of you are staying here at this property?" There were about 15 of us who all raised our hands. He asked me what my room number is and I gave it to him, so did the rest. He said that we were not allowed to be there or anywhere in their common areas because we got a group rate/package and therefore we do not have use of any of their amenities. I never saw that verbiage when booking our reservations for us, family members or friends (proof of receipts to corroborate). We were told to leave the area or we would be evicted and they would call the police. He said that we were being loud which we have videos to corroborate those lies. We did as he said. I happened to leave my Tom Ford sunglasses in all the chaos on the small table, which one of our friends said they saw the very large man pick them up. I went to the front desk to ask for them and they said they didn't have them, I left without them and a $450 loss. We went back to our room, and a moment later we hear a knock and answered, it's the same very large man that said we have 30 minutes to evict. We were shocked! We complied with him when they told us to leave the grassy area and now we are told to leave! We had a full weeks booking; so did most of our guests. My other daughter, husband, along with her a 3 year old daughter and 2 year old toddler twins were also asked to leave and given 30 minutes. Three toddlers and all the stuff that comes with it, 30 minutes to evict. There were 7 families that were evicted. In the midst of the chaos, my daughter’s wedding bouquet, party decorations, children’s toys, and personal belongings were damaged or left behind and never returned by the front desk. Even when exiting the premises we were met with rude expressions by staff who refused to open doors, they were locked. After packing in a rush, we tried to use the elevators and they were shut off, did they expect us to descend the 8 stories of stairs, with our luggage, wedding stuff, toddler toys, strollers, etc.? When we got to the lobby, we loaded the children into the lift in their strollers, and a man yells, “you are not allowed to use!” WHAT?!?! He also turned off the power. At this point the children are screaming because of all the chaos associated with this eviction. Thank goodness we did slip and fall down those stairs with everything in tote.
The mother who hosted the tornaboda was met by an employee in her room who started to push her around. After that scene finished, they attempted to use the elevators and they were still shut off; she had her 82 year old mother with her. No where in the United States would these kind of actions been permitted. We have reached out to Sonder and have sent emails to them for all of them to go unheeded. I hate to think we were targeted, but I believe on the contrary. Mexico tourism will also be hearing about this terrible experience.

I booked a 3Bedroom 1King & 2Queen stay with Sonder at their Las Olas location in Fort Lauderdale for my family..I asked to be in the highest floor, which it was the 10th..our flight was delayed so we got in about almost midnight.we were exhausted, we get our key cards & head upstairs. Parking is $40 pernight. We get upstairs & the room says for the disabled..which nobody told me that i was getting a room for disabled people..get inside & the beds are the beds not only were they all full size for every room, not what I paid for..but they were so low to the ground that for someone with back problems it was very uncomfortable..my wife started crying with disappointment & i was embarrassed because i had invited my military son & his wife to join us. I head downstairs talked to a young lady explained to her my situation & if she could please move us somewhere else & give me a room that I paid for with 1King size bed & 2 Queens..she tells me that she can't help me, all she could do was forward my complaint to her manager. I was so upset & disappointed because I paid $237 a night for 4 nights for a 3B with king, queen ,queen bedrooms. At this point I had to head back upstairs & apologize to my family. because Sonder couldn't help me & we were stuck with this room 1013. It was the most uncomfortable we ever slept, the beds were hard as a rock & not the size advertised. I wouldn't recommend Sonder to any of ny friends & family. Next time I will rather stay at a Motel instead of Sonder Las Olas location.
