We’ve been doing exactly that since 1998, when we started the company that is now known as Spikes and Sparrow. We wanted to make bags (and accessories) that are different. That enhance the character and individuality of their owner. Bags that last. And that are, like us, independent and free. Designed in The Netherlands. With their own handwriting. With international and timeless appeal. Bags that over time become as unique as their owners. We believe that a bag should show what she’s made of. Ours are made of leather. Leather that in most cases changes over time with the way you use the bag. It’ll become shiny in spots that rub against you. It will develop creases based on what you tend to carry inside it. Spots might appear, when you’ve spilled coffee over it, or bumped into a wall. Whatever happens to your bag though only helps to make her more beautiful. And as unique as you are. Our bags are Dutch design, and produced by hand in India. We only work with factories that we know and trust. Factories that do not employ child labour, do not force workers to work overtime, and that create a clean work environment whilst paying normal salaries. That use only REACH compliant chemicals, and nickel free metals. All our factories are either already certified by international standards (such as BSCI or SA8000), or are in the process towards such certification. We want our bags to reflect your personality. They can only start doing that after spending (a lot of) time with you. This is why our products need to last. Why we spend time on production details, like how to stitch the lining to make sure it won’t tear. Or how to attach the handles in such a way that whatever you decide to carry around in your bag, they won’t break. It is why we use only the best zippers and the strongest metal parts. Why we keep on testing our leather and metal components regularly and why we work continuously on improvements. SO… WHY SPIKES? I love my backpack from Spikes and Sparrow. But the raincover was not included... I emailed you twice, but never recieved an answer...

Love Spikes and Sparrow handbags mine is still going strong after 4 years solid buckles pockets and straps and the tan/cognac colours are fab would highly reccomend

Online returnlabel doesn't work, tried several times on several days - in vain. They don't respond to my two emails. I'm still waiting for a response with a return label.

Best customer service ever!
The leather bags from Spikes and Sparrow are SO beautiful, and their purses too, and I just experienced the BEST customer service, since the snaphook on my shoulder bag broke. It's from an older collection (with the 'wrinkled' look which I think is amazing), and I was devastated, but they immediately responded to my email and sent me some new hooks so I can get the bag repaired, and a new strap. That's what I call absolutely great customer service - no fuss, just kindness, understanding and quick shipment. Thank you, Eveline, for all your help, and a very merry Christmas to you all from a thankful customer!

The bag was not for me
I didn’t like that the bag has the brand name on both the front and the back. I think this is a newer model…I saw a model at a store that only had the name on one side and it was very small and hard to see

Stoere tas
Voor een man is een stoere tas vinden vaak moeilijk. Vrouwen hebben als het om kleding en accessoires gaat een stuk meer keuze. Maar gelukkig is er Spikes & Sparrow, want daar heb ik een prachtige tas kunnen vinden. Fijne klantenservice ook.

Goed opgelost
Bestelling gedaan in de webshop. Ging in eerste instantie fout, maar na rechtsreeks contact, alles goed opgelost. Mooie tas in huis. En de fout snel en heel netjes opgelost.

Beste Bart, wat vervelend om te horen! Ik ben hier even ingedoken en zie inderdaad 2 bestellingen van jou staan, alleen staan ze nog op 'processing'. Helaas hebben wij hier geen foutmelding van gekregen maar wel een order bevestigingsmail. Wat er precies is mis gegaan weet ik dus niet. Vandaar dat je hier ook geen bericht over hebt gekregen van ons. Ik kan geen mail van jou terug vinden, naar welk email adres heb jij een bericht gestuurd? Klopt het dat het geld niet is afgeschreven bij jou? Want deze kunnen wij ook niet terug vinden op onze rekening. Als dit wel het geval is horen we het graag.
