We're in the process of clearing my mother-in-law's house after her passing, we had a charity shop in mind which she had always supported with financial donations in life (not Sue Ryder). After extremely rude and off-hand treatment in the other shop, I walked into Sue Ryder in Evesham, with my car in a loading bay 100 yards away. Not only did Bev the manager show me where I could park next to the shop, she helped me unload the car (3 times so far!) and explained they were able to take all sorts of scrap metal, rags and other recyclables. Huge shout out to Bev in particular, and the Sue Ryder shop in Evesham, for being flexible, helpful and exuding 'can-do' attitude!

I had bought a settee from Sue Ryder, Saltash, Cornwall. I also had a settee to give to charity, so asked if the driver could collect the settee upon delivery of the other one, which was agreed by the shop. When they arrived to deliver the sette i had purchased, they did not know that they were taking my one back, then on the bottom of my settee the driver saw a few very small 'bobbles' on the underside sent a photo to the shop and they refused to take it, it was so simple to just trim the bobbles, which is what i did and could not be seen, my the sofa was in very good condition, and a dfs one which I had paid £220 November 2023 ! I was disgusted with Sue Ryder charity shop and will not be buying from them again. Very cheeky, I think! And also could not care less about the customer at all.

The store in Northallerton always has good quality clothing and bric-a-brac for sale, they're priced about right, and the staff are very helpful and friendly. Well done

I had a Wardrobe and a Dressing Table belonging to my Mother in Law, who had recently passed away.Obviously this continues to be a very difficilt time for us.I had previously taken some smaller items to the Bedford Store and dealt with Sue who was lovely.I submitted photos online and they were accepted.I had my collection date and was informed that my furniture would be taken to the Luton Store. When the Drivers Matthew and Shaun turned up they obviously don't enjoy their Job!!! they said they would not take the furniture as it had some marks etc on it, they spoke to the Luton Store who then refused to take it dispite having photos. The drivers were rude and so pleased they hadn't got to move the furniture.I was under the impression that as long as thngs were in reasonable
condition a Charity would take them to do someone else a good turn.I am appalled at the experience I had at such a difficult time!!!

I had an awful shopping experience with the Sue Ryder online store. I ordered two packs of cushion pads along with some additional stationery.
Prior to ordering, due to health reasons, I even emailed Customer Service to check they were brand new items and was assured they were indeed new. On receiving the delivery and opening the box, I was disgusted to see just how filthy the internal packaging was so I put gloves on and started wiping the plastic packaging with disinfectant wipes only to realise that the actual cushions were stained too. On closer inspection, I discovered rodent droppings in the box!
Obviously, I threw the entire delivery outside for it be properly disposed of.
Even though I had photographic evidence, it then took 3 DAYS and FOUR emails to get a full refund (despite initially informing Customer Service that my ENTIRE order was unacceptable, they only refunded each individual
item as I pointed them out separately in a chain of emails. - Given that my order was packed into ONE box and that box had the droppings in, I made the mistake of assuming a refund for the whole order was pretty obvious). During the wait for the delayed response, I reported the incident to Citizens Advice who have informed me that they have actually referred the incident to Trading Standards due to the contamination. Sue Ryder online shop have been blaming their supplier so I have no idea who was responsible for the items being so filthy but somebody packed my order into that box AND still saw fit to post it. Disappointing customer service on top of that. - I certainly will not be shopping with them again.

I tried to donate three wooden owls, still packaged and unused and 7 brand new wicker hamper baskets. I was informed that they were unable to take the items as their very large store room was full.
I regularly look at the numerous charity stores and find Sue Ryder to be expensive. If storage is an issue, reduce the prices for a higher turn over. That in turn would create more space that you clearly need. It would probably create higher turn over and increase the number of charity shop browsers. The shelves in the shop are also full of items that appear to have been there for months.
This has happened to me once before at Sue Ryder in Fakenham.
Until now they were my preferred charity to make donations to.
Not by choice, but my next donations to charity shops will not include Sue Ryder….
I gift aid my items and have donated regularly to help you. I was made to feel that if they could have taken the items they would have been helping me surely it should be me helping you. Not a good way to feel after trying to help your charity.

Just had an awful experience in the Tankerton branch. My daughter (11) was checking out a novelty back scratcher toy, when one of the shop assistants (David) approached her and asked her repeatedly (at least 4 times) if she intended to purchase the item. Due to his aggressive demeanor she said 'no' and was sternly told to 'put it back then'.
Such a shame the situation was handled so badly. There was no risk of damage to the item, she was not using it on her skin (just on top of her tee shirt). So I'm really confused as to why he singled her out when there was many other people looking at things in the shop (myself included).
I had been looking through the records but at this point i intervened. I asked David why he felt the need to put potential customers on the spot and bully them to put items back. He hadn't mentioned anything to anyone else in the shop. It felt like he just wanted to throw his weight around with someone smaller than himself that he could pick on without any come back.
When challenged he became incredibly flustered and told me that his kids would have never done anything like this. All very confusing as my daughter was just checking out some of the toys they have in the shop. I would have been the first one to ask her to put something back if she has been mistreating or risking any sort of damage to the item.
The manager came to help and was lovely but just had to apologise on David's behalf, In front of him I should mention whilst he carried on arguing that he was in the right. Absolutely appalling behaviour from a grown man. My daughter is now too scared to go back in the shop again now which is a real shame. God knows why they have to keep people like this around as volunteers. Such a negative reflection on the organisation as a whole.

I contacted the furniture collection Service and filled in all the necessary boxes. (Bristol Depot.)
Hoping to donate 4 kitchen chairs and glass topped kitchen table.( Which I regard to be in good condition.)
Very efficient I thought, submitted photos as requested, and agreed a collection date.
Had a phone call a couple of days later.
“We can’t accept your furniture there’s a mark on the seat of one of the chairs.”
Utter nonsense it was impossible to see the seat, the photo was of a side view of the chair.
A very strange way to treat donors, not impressed by this attitude !!!!
I contacted British Heart Foundation and a pleasant young lady organised collection there and then.
I’m glad that they will raise some money by selling this furniture and that somebody will have a decent and cheap kitchen table and chairs.

Ordered a tumble dryer on the 2nd July, it was to be delivered on the 8th July, it’s now the 11th, after numerous emails and messages left on the answering machine as other writer stated claim their busy with other customers and ignore messages, really bad customer service and will never purchase here again

Booked a donation of furniture as my husband is coming home after an illness and we need the space for a downstairs bed Had a text the day before to say they would not collect so all my arrangements with the hospital have had to go on hold and my husband has to remain in hospital longer than he wants to .Why accept in the first place?

Ridiculous!
Having decided to upgrade our sofas we wanted to give them a second home which they were worthy of, but also support the Sue Ryder charity. We sent photos to the shop and arranged a collection. However, the problems then began! The collection was arranged with 'Boxmove' who rearranged our weekend collection to a weekday. This was posed a problem but we made the arrangements for someone to be there as we still wanted to support the charity. As they came they 'rejected' our sofa as it had a small tear at the seam at the back (easily stitched if necessary).
The response was "the charity is very particular". Now, I fully understand that anything donated needs to be in the best condition, but without that small tear there wasn't anything else wrong! We would not have donated it otherwise!
My disappointment then continued as I emailed the store, with no response for several days until we visited to complain!
The response was that our sofa must not have been in a saleable condition!
What a disgusting response as we have seen the furniture being sold with tears and one had three legs instead of four.
I am writing this review as I feel my response from the store was utterly disappointing and I want to get my point across!
In response to your comment 'Ash' I have already emailed the related store with my complaint, and Boxmove who are yet to respond! Therefore my review here is in response to their poor reply! We already provided photos and in seeing the sofas in the store with three legs was disgusting to then find out ours (in a far better state) was not good enough!!!!!!!

I would just like to commend the Sue Ryder Shop in Morecambe. It is, in my opinion, the nicest charity shop in the area. It always looks so vibrant and tidy. I am alway popping in and it never ceases to amaze me how one member who works there called Sarah ( I think she may be a manager?) She always has time for everyone, with a beautiful smile and kindness to the older people, running to help them with the door and packing their bags. Most of the time she is working on her own and is running here and there making people smile. I donated a couple of bags the last time I visited and she was so appreciative it warmed my heart. Also a lady came in the same time and she looked very upset and this lovely young lady came up to her (even though she was busy doing some display) and gave her a hug and made her sit down for a minute while she told her her woes.

Sue Ryder Chipping Norton - Kelly the Manager is not the best ambassador for her delivery of customer service - empathy and words that aim to lessen the delivery of disappointing news lacking and a fall back on systems and process (which was really poor training of her front of house team) preventing her from actioning refund request. Have left detail on the Chipping Norton shop FB page but Sue Ryder Area Management - should be helping this Manager work on her delivery. This customer was made to feel like a nuisance and not for the 1st time in this shop hence why I have been moved to leave a review.
Recruiting in charity retail is not easy, please therefore support your teams with access to training to help them in areas they are not so strong. Merchandising v good, customer service not so much!!!

Decided to donate two sofas to Sue Ryder. So I went online and organised the collection. The site could be better. I was not confident that all had gone through so I phoned the Cheltenham store who Confirmed that all was arranged. But the wrong telephone number was recorded, so that was rectified and then confirming texts came through ensuring everything was arranged. Collection took place and all is good. Happy that it was all sorted in the end.
