I have placed several orders with this shop over several years. I've ordered mostly special editions and a shirt.

One of the books had somewhat thin paper, but it was produced during the publishing paper shortage so I do not blame the company. The rest have been high quality books.

The shirt was also high quality - the design hasn't faded and the fabric hasn't gotten worn despite wearing it fairly frequently for at least 2 years now.

Customer service was super quick to respond back to me via email when I had a question. And notably it was an actual person, not a computer generated response.

Important to note: I have never ordered one of their mystery boxes, so I cannot say anything about the quality or fulfillment of those in particular - only the standard store items.

If it looks too good to be true, it is

It’s been months and I haven’t received the items ordered. Also was due a refund from a separate order which has never come through. Emails claimed items en route and refund was sent but still no evidence of either. Luckily, my bank has a scam team and I could get money back through them. So glad I didn’t tell my daughter about her gift in advance

Low quality and customer service issues

I started with Bookish box about a year and a half ago. It took almost 6 months to get my first box I was super excited. Since then the quality of what you get in your box has gone down. But the straw that broke the camels back was when I moved ( and they were still 6 months behind on orders so I was getting things I would have ordered months ago). I changed my address on the website. They still sent it to my old address and when I reached out to them to ask what happened to my box, they told me that they were not responsible and would not replace the box they sent to an address that I had updated to a new one. Those boxes are EXPENSIVE! Do not waste your time or money.

Bookish box is a SCAM

I have literally paid for two boxes so far they have sent nothing. I waited months on their wait list. They continue to take money out of my bank account and don’t actually ship things. They have lied countless times and say that all orders placed by a certain point has already shipped which is a lie because nothing has been shipped it even shows unfulfilled on my order history. The bookish box is a scam and I don’t recommend them to anyone. I will be discontinuing my service and going to a different monthly box that actually sends out boxes.

SCAM

I ordered a special edition book from them 11 MONTHS AGO. they kept promising me new estimated deliveries and never kept their word. once it did get sent out after almost a year i was on vacation and couldn't be there to receive it so it got sent back. they only want to partially refund me and i wasn't okay with that so i sent back and email and they haven't been responding ever since then. DO NOT ORDER FROM THIS SHOP UNLESS YOU WANT TO GET SCAMMED. i'm going to wait a little longer and then involve lawyers because this is highly unprofessional especially since i'm not the only one. never going to order from them again.

Truly shocking company 😲
Pre orders not delivered, money not been refunded tho they state they have. They steal your money
Awaiting on three months of subscription books, but delivery dates keep getting pushed back.
Customer service keeps promising they are sorting things out but never actually do anything.
Do not touch this company.

You're probably never getting anything.

I was given the email to activate a box subscription in early April for the March box. It is now July and I haven't received ANYTHING. I have 3 pending boxes, in which they keep pushing back shipping dates stating they will get to it after February boxes shipped. At first it was late May, then early June, then late June, and now the boxes will ship in July. I have a feeling I am never getting anything and I wasted so much money. I will be contacting the BBB by August 1st if nothing has been received for a formal complaint.

This is the worst run business I've…

This is the worst run business I've ever seen.
Not only are the products WILDLY subpar to other book boxes, the customer service is non existent, and you'll pay for boxes for 6 months to a year before you ever see one. It is May 26, 2024 and I do not have a box I paid for on November 20, 2023.
Continuing to pay for this box is not worth it, and I finally decided to stop enabling a horrible company, and have taken my money elsewhere.

Ordered gifts for my daughter for…

Ordered gifts for my daughter for Christmas and am still waiting for my order to ship. I have recently read many posts and comments from unhappy customers who have been waiting for subscription orders for up to 6 months. I was testing out the shipping times and process before I subscribed by placing a regular order first and have definitely decided that they will not get another penny from me. The whole shop seems like a scam and very few if any people get their orders. I’ll be doing a chargeback on my order. Take my advice and don’t give this shop your money. They clearly don’t give a crap about their customers and need to stop taking orders until they are caught up on orders. Having to wait 6 months for an order is theft and beyond ridiculous.

Horrible policies/fulfillment for cute products

Cute products but horrible shipping/return. I ordered Nov 6 to get present for Christmas. It said 4-6 weeks. Past six weeks and now I get this when I reach out to say cancel since past the window of time: “ Our fulfillment team works Monday through Friday, meaning the 4-6 weeks do not include weekends. Since you ordered on November 4th your 6-week mark lands on January 2nd.” Are you kidding me. And I can’t cancel it unless they announce that they are past the time. Good luck ever getting your order. I did carefully read everything and I should’ve had my package shipped last week even at the latest latest. They won’t let me cancel it and never said this weird way of counting weeks. First time I followed up they said they weren’t late until Dec 15. This new message came when I followed up after the 15th to cancel because late (they say that’s the only way you can cancel if late but they just keep changing the policy on when my time is!!)

Worst Shopping Experience, Deceptive Customer Service

I just had the worst shopping experience of my life with The Bookish Box. Their so-called "customer service" boasts about being customer-focused and empathetic, but the reality is quite different. Not only did they resell my copy to another customer, but they are refunding me only half of the amount I paid.

It's a complete scam! How can they claim to be "customer-focused" while blatantly disregarding the legitimate concerns of their customers? Their refund policy, which doesn't even cover the full amount spent, is unacceptable.

I strongly advise everyone to never buy from this site again, as they clearly don't care about their customers. It's a disappointing and frustrating experience, and I wouldn't wish this on anyone. Avoid this site at all costs!

Great products, absolutely terrible company

Not only are their shipping seats horrendous (I’m talking 6+ months on fulfillment), but their customer service is straight up rude. I wrote them asking why they sold 100% of their stock on an item that was a members only pre-order, so when it opened for general sale it was already sold out. Their response was basically “sucks to be you, pay us monthly to be a member and you won’t have this issue”.

They lack the ability to ship any items…

They lack the ability to ship any items on time. False promises regarding delivery dates and times on everything from monthly subscriptions to pre-order items. They think that #transparency in emails regarding their items being consistently delayed means they can just send email after email pushing back promised items for 5 months (The A Touch of Darkness pre-order) and that it is excusable.

They blame their company partners for all issues and delays, their items including limited edition books, consistently come damaged or with misprint errors and they never take responsibility, such as with the Crave pre-orders.
Supposedly they are always behind in shipping things because their fulfillment team is small and does not complete more than one project at a time, and they don't ship monthly boxes out of order, so their subscribers are receiving March 2022 boxes at the end of May 2022, which leaves, April, May, and June pushed back with an additional three pre-orders still pending fulfillment. One pre-order was originally promised for May, then "end of May 🥰" and now supposedly some time in June. They delete all comments from their FB consumers that mention any of these issues to prospective or new buyers.

I unsubscribed in January, and want the last item I ordered from them to deliver so I never have to think about this horrible company again.
