Great Box This Month.

Great box this month.

Cracking gin which is made better with the addition of a single drop of Grapefruit Essence and a straight tonic water like Schweppes or Fever Tree. Also best served with a slice of Grapefruit rather than the usual Lemon or Lime. The bottle is really nice, I must find something to do with it once it's empty.

Loved the Tortilla Chips. I used them to scoop up freshly made Chilli Con Carne with Sour Cream on top, a very pleasant way of serving Chilli instead of the usual rice.

The Chocolate Coconut bites were brilliant. No where near as sweet as Bounty, and better for it as you could really taste the Coconut.

The concept is great but sneaky sales tactics

The concept is great, if a little expensive. However what I really think is wrong is the fact you cannot cancel on the website. If you try and do this on a mobile phone it just sends you in an endless loop. You need to do it on a desktop computer which will then give you a number you have to call and listen to their sales pitch. There is no way to find this number of their website. All a bit too sneaky for my liking - if it had been easier to cancel I may have come back but this has put me off ever returning.

These calls are typically very quick, taking less than two minutes on average, including any wait time.

Yet another complaint about the…

Yet another complaint about the difficulty of cancellation. All my points were lost with the switch from craft gun club and now it is impossible to cancel, remove my card or anything. The personal experience James refers to is just absolute rubbish. They wouldn’t hide their phone number if that was the case. The fact that you have to email to get a phone number they don’t answer is ridiculous!

Regarding your rewards, we emailed all members in October 2025 to explain that we were introducing a new loyalty programme. Existing points remained available to spend until 4 January 2026, and any cashback earned under the new scheme became available from 5 January 2026. We appreciate it's disappointing if you weren't able to use your points before they expired.

We're also sorry you found the cancellation process difficult. We ask members to call us because it gives us the opportunity to resolve any outstanding issues, gather valuable feedback, and ensure everything is cancelled correctly. Our calls are answered by our team, with an average wait and call time of under two minutes, so the process is designed to be as quick and straightforward as possible.

We genuinely value speaking with our members, and this isn't intended to make cancellation difficult. We appreciate your feedback, as it helps us continue to improve the experience.

Lovely gins.

My parcel was very well packaged, with lovely gins and great treats to accompany them. When I spoke to Desmond on the telephone, he was extremely friendly, polite and helpful. Great customer service.

Appalling cancellation process

I am appalled that it seems impossible to cancel either a delivery or my membership on the new website. When I did eventually find a button cancel to my subscription by selecting every possible option regardless of whether it seemed relevant I was then directed to making a phone call. 6 minutes of holding and then I’m cut off by them. They hide the phone number and make it very difficult to cancel!!!

My comments on the reply below: Why should I have to waste my time speaking to you if I simply want to cancel my membership??? And let's be honest about this.... you want the phone call so you can 'persuade to stay'....

Excellent gin, need to rethink cancellation policy

The gin is excellent and it’s enjoyable to receive the packages. Anna who I spoke to on customer service was very pleasant and helpful - big thank you to her ☺️

My only wish is that you could cancel yourself online and didn’t have to call up, I think you run the risk of annoying customers by having to go though the options and extras to try and keep you as a customer. In my opinion this is a dated sales technique and I find it rather grating.

I've been with them in their previous…

I've been with them in their previous guise as Craft Gin Club for years only on the quarterly subscription. It's always a treat to receive these bundles of joy. However Evri misplaced my last order but Ella at Curios Drinker was really helpful and has replaced it using a different courier to ensure it gets here this time. Brilliant customer service.

We'd just like to clarify that while members can no longer cancel directly through the website, cancellation is not difficult or hidden. Members can find our cancellation information within the members' area, and if they have any trouble locating it, they can simply email us at members@thecuriousdrinker.com and we'll be happy to provide the number and assist.

We ask members to call us to cancel so that we can ensure memberships are closed correctly, answer any final questions, gather feedback, and help prevent any unwanted future renewals. The average cancellation call takes around two minutes, including wait time.

While we understand that some members would prefer an online cancellation option, our intention is not to make cancellation difficult, but to provide a personal service and ensure everything is handled properly.

Great subscription service

Great subscription service. Good choice of different rum and gin. There's also an alcohol free subscription. Included in the subscription you also receive snacks to try with your beverage of choice.
The subscription allows you to skip or pause for however long you choose. Cancellation is also possible. The trial pack was a great idea.
Excellent customer service - Desmond Jones was very helpful and friendly, sorted out something that I had been unable to resolve myself online (user error).
Highly recommend 👌

Great customer service

Haven’t gotten the box yet so can’t rate on that, but customer service has been super helpful, very straightforward with their emails and calls. Anna let me know of all my options and was very lovely on the phone. Thank you :)

Cancellation process is hideous!

When I started my subscription 6 years ago all was good but over time the boxes do not feel like as good value any more, especially since linking it with the rum. I have been trying for days to cancel my membership but have got increasingly frustrated going through every screen on the app to do this and not succeeding. I then tried to phone them but the number is coming up as invalid. I have therefore (hopefully) deleted my card details from my account so that they cannot take any more payments until i can eventually get confirmation that my account is closed. I would not recommend this to anyone now :(

We're sorry to hear that you've become frustrated with both the perceived value of the boxes and the cancellation process.

Regarding the boxes themselves, in recent years we've actually increased the amount of content and extras included, with more accompanying materials, features and added-value items than ever before. Our Gin and Rum subscriptions are curated separately by dedicated teams to ensure each box is tailored specifically to that spirit and its audience. While there may occasionally be a brand that appears across both subscriptions, this only happens when we believe it genuinely works for both gin and rum enthusiasts, never as a way of reducing quality or value.

In terms of cancellation, we do require members to contact us directly so we can ensure memberships are properly closed and avoid any unintended future renewals. The cancellation phone number is available within the members' area, and if you're unable to locate it, our team is always happy to provide it via email. We would encourage members not to simply remove payment details, as this does not necessarily cancel an active membership and can lead to confusion regarding future renewals.

Our average cancellation call takes around two minutes, including wait time, and gives us the opportunity to answer any final questions and ensure everything is processed correctly.

Their gin boxes were great

Their gin boxes were great, I enjoyed the complementary snacks and mixers, and the stories behind each gin was interesting. I cancelled my subscription as I no longer drink, but would recommend to others who do drink. The cancellation process is rather cheeky, as their FAQ states that it's easily done online but then when I followed the instructions, they made it so that you HAVE to call their customer service line to cancel, so I found this to be dishonest. Their customer service rep Anna was polite and helpful and she cancelled it after initially trying to offer me alternatives. The website should really mention upfront that cancellation can ONLY be done by telephone.

Surprised and shocked to see their gimmicks

I am surprised and shocked to see their practices.

First trap, you can't cancel membership on website. Then next trap, no one ever answers the phone.

I rang their number more than 10 times even after 10-15 minutes waiting neither any answer or call back, Inspite of the voicemail. Finally still charged for monthly auto-renewal ( third trap). I clearly said I am not interested, still they sent me the parcel after 3 weeks ( fourth trap). I refused to accept the delivery. Now let's see, if they still refund or not.

Our phone lines are open Monday to Friday during business hours, so if your attempts to call were made on a Saturday, unfortunately the team would not have been available to answer. During opening hours, the average call time, including any wait time, is around two minutes, and our team works hard to respond to members as quickly as possible.

We do ask members to call in order to cancel their membership rather than cancelling online. This is not intended to be a "trap" we genuinely value the opportunity to speak with members, answer any final questions, and gather feedback about their experience.

We're also sorry to hear about the confusion around your renewal and delivery. If a cancellation request is received after a renewal has already processed, the monthly box may still be dispatched as part of that billing cycle. Refused deliveries are normally returned to us and reviewed by our support team for refund eligibility.
