Dog hair everywhere in “No Pets” home

Rented a “No Pets” home (Just Ducky) in Duck for a week. Dog hair all over the floors, beds, window sills. Ewww! So much for being a No Pets home. After spending a week here I went home itchy and congested from dog hair. Needless to say the house was not clean when we arrived. Ants found in the bedrooms and there was still sand in the pool from the last tenants. When brought this up to Twiddy they claimed the pool was just cleaned that morning and this wind blew sand in the pool. That must be their standard response. Windows were filthy and could barely see out. Thank goodness it rained hard one night and it cleaned the windows, somewhat. Just Ducky could be a nice rental if Twiddy stuck to their No Pets rule and actually clean the house instead of just charging people a cleaning fee when no cleaning is happening.

Currently renting an OBX property…Legend of Atlantis….extremely disappointed…we won’t be back

Currently renting an OBX property through Twiddy called Legend of Atlantis. The house itself could be amazing if it was kept up. It’s extremely dirty, floors cabinets, mirrors, fly feces all over porch and sliding doors. A lot of things broken. They sent out cleaners but all they did was sweep and mop. Extremely disappointed especially with the amount of money paid.

I want to caution anyone who signs a…

I want to caution anyone who signs a lease with Twiddy for an OBX rental and utilizes the trip insurance company they utilize, Generali, which is a scam. Please read the terms and conditions before you sign up with Generali. If your reason for cancellation does not fit exactly what they consider a covered event, you are out of luck. Go with a travel insurance company that will allow for cancellation without cause. Twiddy was no assistance to me and took my $6000 without any alternative. Better yet....go with VRBO and not Twiddy.

Our family has been visiting the…

Our family has been visiting the Corolla/Swan/Corova 4x4 beach for 20 + years. Each year we have an exceptional vacation but let me just say The houses are dirty when we arrive at 4pm, barely cleaned. So I watched the house this year the cleaning company spent around 40 minutes in the house. Our house was around$6000 for a week, we had 4 glass plates, no small plates or even plastic plates, 1 was chipped and not able to use, we bought paper plates, the freezer had red juice all over it, floor was filthy and sticky. All the drawers in the kitchen were disguisting, pot and pans scraped beyond use, dishes greasy in the dishwasher and dirty. Our sliding glass door handle was broke in the closed locked position, our water was green, and I’m aware of the water level, well level and water and sewage system only being 50 feet apart. Toilets were dirty when we lifted the toilet lid, the vacuum did not work beside the washer and dryer. I later found one in a closet but decided not to bother cleaning. The owner should be ashamed to let serendipity get to this function, and Twiddy should be ashamed for not managing the people they hire to ‘clean’. Very disappointed in the house. We have rented this before, about 12 years ago. Just who are you trying to attract to this home? I’m a middle class worker and this was a huge disappointment. on day 2 of our vacation we found a ripped bag of blankets on the porch. No thanks-
We had a maintenance guy named Brennan, who was 5 star employee fix the door. He was nice and deserves a raise. Also we had mice invade us in the kitchen and eat through our food boxes and crapped on everything! The pantry door was locked with a warning a camera would catch us if we opened it- the mice would still be able to get in it but we had no choice but to leave our food out on the counters. Just being honest with this review. 2024, June 8-15. You can do better.

STAY AWAY

We stayed at The High Dune - 2215 Sandfiddler Rd, Corolla, NC 27927, this was the 4x4 beach home, from July 28 to Aug 5, 2023. Here is our review of Twiddy & the home.
This home is rented by the Twiddy Service, so I do not know if the home owners even know about this info or if Twiddy gives the home owner feedback from the renters.
We did call and speak to an intern, we have trash all outside the home was never clean up, bag of trash out on lawn, main floor toilet handle was broke, did fix that, there was hair trimming from someone sharing still in the on bathroom sink, there was buffalo sauce still on plates in the cabinet, all the decks with wood that has so many splitters you can get & nails sticking out is crazy there is so much that has to be replaced, the ship for smaller children, was just a mess it was broken, wood broken everywhere, ladder broken, it was a splitter fest is was so bad, personal injury, negligence, & willful failure to warn us is a problem.
To me this seems like false advertising about the home, when we ask to be compensated, this is Twiddys reply
- I will be glad to return $500 for your home service fee for the cleaning issues & for the playset. This is the best they can do after we spend 10k for the week to rent the home.
We paid 10k for a week, that is the best they can do, so I will tell all people Twiddy does not care they just want your money, but when it comes to taking care of the renters spending all this money, they do not care at all – I will say the same about the home owners as well, they have not reached out of make the situation better – so my suggestion is use VRBO never use Twiddy & stay away from this home to rent because you will be disappointed so much it will ruin your trip, I have all the pictures to prove this as well, I will post them.

Poor customer service

We rented a home in Corolla and arrived in late May 2023. Since the weather can be iffy, we paid for pool heat so we could enjoy a warm swim, even if the ocean was cold. Well, two days into our stay, the pool heater stopped working. They tried to fix it but they weren’t able. We asked for our pool fee to be refunded (even pro-rated) and they refused to refund anything. They said they fixed it. This is very poor business and it really soured us to renting with them again. $400 vs future rental income… hope they enjoy they money because they are not getting an additional cent from us.

If I could give zero stars I would!

If I could give zero stars I would. I rented Sundance at 2259 Sandfiddler Road Carova 4X4 Beach, NC. Aug 20 -27, 2023 for approximately 12K. The home was filthy upon arrival, from bugs, dirt, and mold in 4 of the bathrooms. Kitchen cabinets dirty & were broken. Dishwasher kick plate was laying on the floor. They bought a range much smaller than the original and there's a disgusting amount of food hanging on the cabinets. The ceramic tile in the upper living room door is cracked in multiple places making it a hazard to even use. The refrigerator froze our food. There was a cord on a lamp that was burnt & left a mark on the end table. The kitchen sink was clogged and needed to be plunged. The pool wasn't clean when we arrived Twiddy promised to have it cleaned by Wednesday but no one ever came. The hot tub started shocking people on Wednesday, needless to say we quit using. The beds had sand in them the first night and no one had been on the beach. We left early because this place was a real disappointment and another disaster waiting to happen. In 41 years of renting a vacation home I've never had any issues. I've asked for compensation but Twiddy hasn't responded.

Knot Worried—great house in Corolla! AC NS a big thanks to Hannah at Twiddy

We have been coming down to the Outer Banks for 30 years. This year started out disastrous. We rented an oceanfront house through Outer Banks Blue and were told the house had bedbugs! After much coaxing, we convince them to contact the other realtors they got in touch with Twiddy and we were placed in an Oceanside house. The next morning I told Hannah from Twiddy that we paid for an oceanfront house as we have for the past 30 years and she took the extra effort to look for any available oceanfront homes, and found us “knot worried.” This was a great house. Excellent views, very well equipped. Our only recommendation was to have a small sink in the bar area on the upper floor. The owner was very nice in that they had three large delicious pies available as a nice check in gift. Overall this was about the best house we’ve had over all of these years. And a big thank you to Hannah and her team at Twiddy for going the extra mile to help us out and make our week a great week, when it started out so disastrously!

We stayed in casa de coral

We stayed in casa de coral. AC broke twice, no consistent AC for 4 days. coffee pot doesn’t work. Master bedroom rug smells of urine. Plugs don’t work in dining room. Auto wine opener broken. AC filters filthy Grill was filthy. Grease caught on fire. Lights on porch do not work. Wash clothes shredded. This house is in no condition to be rented.

Last Time We Will Ever Stay at a Twiddy Home

We stayed at Picture Perfect I BFS33, Four Seasons through Twiddy. I have to say that I have been coming to Duck for over 25 years and the quality of Twiddy Rentals has gone down every year. This was the worst experience out of all of them.

Too begin with, we didn't get to check in until almost 7pm because the renters before us left the house "untidy." That was putting it mildly and the cleaning crew wanted to "do it right." It was still filthy. We found a hard lemonade can in the magazine rack and our toddler found a condom wrapper in the driveway.

We finally get in and discover that there isn't a properly working appliance in the place. The floors are scratched and poorly maintained. There are all these spots where the floor has been repaired. I don't know who did the repairs but they all look like vomit. The "screened-in porches" aren't screened-in. Each porch is missing half of its screens. The pool bottom is deteriorating. The volleyball court is a mess. We couldn't use the hot tub until three days in because the chemicals burned our eyes. We had to call maintenance and they came out and completely drained the hot tub because the levels were too high. The grill was in terrible shape and ran out of propane.

The mattresses were uncomfortable and one bed was broken. Everything in the place was damaged and ratty looking. For $945 a person that is just ridiculous. I went to Europe for less money and had better accommodations.

This was just a very disappointing experience.

Twiddy's "Vitamin Sea" 753 Starfish Ct., Corolla, NC

We rented "Vitamin Sea" 753 Starfish Ct., Corolla, NC from Twiddy. What looked to be a good week, turned out to be horrible week. Avoid this house and save your money. The mattresses were so hard, no one could sleep. I was told by Twiddy that this issue is subjective, but when 5 people having the same experience, this is no longer subjective. In addition, loud neighbors, fan vent that makes noise all day and night, deck chairs breaking when sit in them, leaves for a very unrestful vacation of the entire family. Twiddy has some kind of resolution team, that can only reply by email for any kind of complaints. Do not recommend renting this house.

Less than 24 hours after moving in my…

Less than 24 hours after moving in my group was told we have to leave “because we are not family”. We had a week long stay planned and the company was well aware we were not related prior to leasing it. Despite fighting this, the company refused to refund our money. If it was a major issue that we weren’t family they would have called beforehand and alerted us of this problem. Their intentions were clearly to collect our payment and then evict us, simply because we were a group of high school students. Do not rent from this company.

Twiddy is awesome

Twiddy is awesome - they are superbly run and excel at providing outstanding service to both renters and owners. My first experience with Twiddy goes back over 20+ years ago and have seen them continue to improve the rental experience. You will see a bunch of reviews from folks suggesting Twiddy are scammers - nothing could further from the truth. You don't get to be the largest provider with the best quality homes in the Outer Banks if you don't treat people right.

TWIDDY took their entire rental fees/cashed the checks .. then arrive within minutes of check in as cars are being unloaded--begin asking questions/ evicted these properties less than 8 hours later.. via email and CLOSED their business so no one could respond to a PERSON.. the email gave these renters 4 hours to leave. Your website touts "hospitable" do the right thing.. refund the $ to the families.
TWIDDY-COWARDS-BBB needs to examine your business practices.. they will be called tomorrow so I will speak with a person...
How could I forget that the tow trucks were lined up at the beginning of the sand-and CHARGED $595.00 to tow a car.. is that the regular rate?? ...Or just another"VISIONARY" disgusting scam on your part??

Do not rent from Twiddy if you are not blood related…

Do not rent from Twiddy if you are planning to have ANYONE not blood related in the same home. It is in the fine print. But then again they rented to a mother who chaperoned her daughter and her friends for senior week, which Twiddy KNEW was happening and discussed before check in. Then after 24 hours, they send eviction notices to be out by 5:00 pm because not everyone is blood related. Are you kidding me????? And now tons of students and chaperones are displaced trying to get off the beach. They are SCAMMERS and took advantage of multiple families. So think twice before you rent with friends, bachelorette parties, work functions or wedding parties......they will take your money and evict you. Oh, but they advertise its perfect for those types of events. Be aware. They are scammers.

Absolutely Do not rent anything from this company. They tout a family friendly atmosphere but don’t even think about having any non-blood relatives stay with you. No friends can visit, no bachelorette or bachelor parties, no wedding or corporate events - according to their reasoning to evict everyone in the house must be BLOOD RELATED or they will evict you based on what they view in the cameras in and outside the houses. And yes they “watched till 2:00 am” as the teenage girls had fun with their friends. I hope they can prove that none of the occupants were blood related and that they preform this level of intense dna scrutiny at every single rental they have. A lawyer is already working on this. If you have been wrongfully evicted from one of their properties jump on board. There were at least 11 houses that we know of that they waited to cash the check for an entire weeks rental before evicting less than 24 hours after check in. *Special note - there was NO DAMAGE to any of the homes. There were parents on location chaperoning

AVOID Twiddy Rentals

AVOID Twiddy Rentals! They are stealing your money with planned evictions upon the day of arrival. NO REFUNDS! They send you an email "eviction" notice telling you to vacate within 4 hours. This email is sent at the close of their business day (meaning an empty office) and has vague indication of the issues. Not to mention someone is sitting up until the early hours of the morning watching you on a camera. Creepy no doubt. The Twiddy plan is to invoke a technicality upon your arriving to evict the renters from the property. Even with parents on location, not over the occupancy rating and NOT a party house. If you have a trip planned in the near future, you better beware as they will boot you out quickly. You will loose your money and trip. The owners and Twiddy get to bank the profit. They are not renting in good faith to the customer. We are NOT the only ones. Numerous verified rentals... Better do your due diligence prior. You have been warned.

Twiddy and Company in Corolla rented a…

Twiddy and Company in Corolla rented a large house to us with numerous problems including: mice, big leak in bathroom sink, hot tub with lots of sand, fresh blood on bedspread, vomit on wall behind the bed, broken refrigerator, broken blue ray player, dust that you could literally gather in a pile... on and on. We paid a lot of money for an oceanfront home with such dirty windows that you could not enjoy the view. Why rent an oceanfront home with such dirty windows? I wonder if they even looked at the home before taking our money. Twiddy did come to give us a new blue ray player and wash some windows but we had to wait an entire day for the service people. And the hot tub service said the hot tub was just serviced so why did they leave so much sand in it?
And then the Hampton Roads BBB would not let me up load my response and pictures nor would they answer my calls.
I have pictures and documentation for all claims.

Terrible Stay at Morning Star I (B190) in Sand Dollar Shores

During August 2022 we stayed at Morning Star I (B190) in Sand Dollar Shores. The house was in bad shape (cigarette butts in grill at check-in, broken light bulb in pool, deck was splintering and stairs were detached from decking, sheets were dirty, just to name a few). Twiddy maintained communications throughout and most items were addressed at some point during our stay, and we were offered $390 for our troubles, which we declined. The real issue here is that per Twiddy "All web content, including reviews, is published at our discretion." Therefore, good luck having any insight into issues at your rental, as they screen those reviews and do NOT publish them, they only publish those that "recommend" the rental!

I rented a house from Twiddy and it was so dirty I got sick and Twiddy didn’t carethe…

I rented a house from Twiddy in the Four Seasons Complex. Even off season it was expensive. The pictures looked better than the house. Upon entry there was a foul smell like dampness and mildew. The air vents were covered in dust. There were ants all over the kitchen. There as hair in the bathtub! Gross! One toilet and since were clogged. Lights weren’t working. The master bedroom must have had mold as I got so sick and we had to leave 2 days early. The outside pool and pool area were dirty and full of debris and a used face mask left behind! To summarize, the house was dirty And not well maintained. I brought this to Twiddys management along with photos and they did not care. They are horrible!! Poor customer service. They rent dirty homes and then don’t want to be bothered when guests who spent lots of money get sick while staying in one of their properties.
