Defective AED and incorrect refund processing

I purchased a Powerheart AED from AED.com (Cardio Partners / American AED) on January 7, 2026 for $628.63 for use in my executive transportation business.

Within a few weeks the device began malfunctioning. After several emails with their service department, they issued an RMA and instructed me to return the AED for a refund.

I returned the device using the shipping label they provided.

After the unit was received, the refund process became extremely frustrating. I had to follow up multiple times to get status updates, and I was eventually told the refund had already been issued.

However, the documentation they sent shows the refund was processed to a Visa card, even though the original purchase was made with American Express.

As a result, only $305.02 of the $628.63 purchase price has been credited to my American Express account.

Because the issue could not be resolved through their billing team, I have had to reopen a dispute with American Express to recover the remaining balance.

Between the malfunctioning device, the slow service response, and the incorrect refund handling, this has been a very disappointing experience.

When purchasing critical safety equipment such as an AED, reliability and responsive customer service are essential.

3-month shipping delay and don’t forget to buy key option to save children’s’ lives.

I ordered my AED in December and a month went by and I hadn’t received the product, any kind of shipping confirmation, or any product delay notification from AED. When I followed up with AED in January, they indicated that Phillips is now making the product to order and they would contact the company for an anticipated delivery date and email me an update. I never heard back from AED. I called AED in February and, again in early March, hearing the same promise that they would follow up with Phillips and contact me with an update. Nothing. The AED was finally delivered nearly 3 months after I ordered it. It would have been nice for AED to send out at least one e-mail indicating that there is a 3-month product delay.

While I very much like my new defibrillator, it was delivered without the key accessory to utilize the device on children/infants. That accessory is an additional $100+ option on a device that already costs $2,000. It seems it would make more sense to include the child key accessory so the defibrillator could immediately save all lives and add the $100 to the retail price point. It certainly wasn’t clear online when I purchased my AED that I needed to buy the accessory to save childres’ lives.

So, I had to order that accessory separately and wait three weeks for it to ship.

Good store; Bad website

Wide array of supplies. Easy to understand catalog.
Website is weird to navigate and reloads many times. "Back" button on browser sometimes goes back several pages. Cannot edit quantities in cart - have to go back out of cart to edit and then go all the way back through checkout step-by-step.
