Irresponsible travel agent
Hello all,
Let me update about my experience with your travel agency for my dubai trip with family.
Overall experience: Avg or below.
Reason: Paid almost 9000 dhrs for 4 days family trip but overall offered ameneties are Avg and feels treated as prime customer only on words.
When calculated the prices currenty exist for a customer, the offered package is having huge difference and customer satisfaction never ever granted.
Reasons,
Hotel Experience : Avg.
Facilities: Avg,
Food: Avg.
Rides levels offered: Avg.
Logistics: Poor, (dont feel like pvt instead experienced like Uber).
Note: I lost prime hrs due to irresponsible taxi selection.
Conclusion: Not recommeneded for future trips instead Connect to Hotels directly avoiding these kind of irresponsible travel agent and their staffs.
WOMAN TRAVELLERS STAY AWAY!
If you are a woman traveller, just DO NOT go to Akbar Travels for anything.
I had the most horrible experience with them just in January 2026... Went to one of their branches in Kerala for my Singapore visa. It was a girls trip we are taking and my friends applied their visa from Bangalore. I had written a detailed cover letter, stating everything including who's travelling with me, their passport details, where we are taking our flight from, my occupation, my savings and all that.
Despite giving all the documents, the Visa officer told me I'll not get visa because i'm a single woman traveller. When I said I'm married, he started asking questions like why my husband isn't coming on this trip, and why he hasn't given me an NOC and all that.
Mind you, I'm working, i'm not dependent on my partner for financial needs, and I have a good paying job. The Singapore embassy states we need NOC from husband only in cases where the wife is dependent financially on the husband.
This was not the case for me. I submitted the documents on 6th January, and this officer said he sent my documents to Chennai office that day itself. And 8 days later, on 14th January, when I called him to ask for an update, he says that the Chennai Akbar travels office has denied my application because I'm a single lady traveling. he waited 8 days to tell me this. The rejection didn't come from the consulate, but from their office.
He then delayed giving back my passport despite me telling that I need to give this to another agency.
The male ego and primitive thinking at Akbar Travels was nothing short of a shock for me. NEVER EVER OPT for them, if you are a woman travelling abroad.
Nightmare Umrah Experience with Akbar Travels
I recently traveled for Umrah with my family, including senior citizens and children, hoping for a spiritual and peaceful journey. Unfortunately, our experience with Akbar Travels was mentally and physically draining. There was no manager or senior staff to take responsibility or solve any of our issues.
1. Terrible Logistics & Flights:
The journey started badly with a chaotic 6-hour waiting period. We were asked to made in masjid with kids and elderly. This schedule was exhausting and completely unsuitable for the elderly and young children.
2. Zero Hygiene & Maintenance:
The most disappointing part was the accommodation. There was absolutely no cleaning of the rooms or bathrooms for days in both Makkah and Madinah. Cleanliness is a basic requirement for prayer (Salah). How are we expected to pray and maintain spirituality when the living conditions are filthy?
3. Poor Food & Rude Staff:
The food service was unreliable, the quality of food was not good. The staff was rude with no proper service. Breakfast and dinner were not up to the mark. When we simply requested eggs for the children, the staff was incredibly rude.
4. Abandoned during Checkout:
In Madinah, we were forced to check out at 2:30 PM, even though our bus was not scheduled until 8:00 PM. We were left stranded for hours with no response or assistance from the management.
5.There is a permit needed for Riyazul Jannah, which is usually provided by the agent. But in their case they suddenly said that the permit needs to be done from our end that too in the end moment. I had to apply it on my own and out of 5 members we only for permit for 3. 2 of us did not get a chance. This is so unprofessional that the customer who pays so much has to bear all these inconvenience and still doesn't get a chance to pray.
This was the worst travel experience I have had. If you are traveling with family, especially seniors, please look elsewhere.

I experienced a real customer support when I was approaching for the refund which caused the airline cancelled the flight due to poor weather. Upon follup with AT customer service they supported to get me back the full refund amount, thanks to the AT team.

Akbar Travels has been extremely unhelpful. My son was kept waiting at the airport for an hour, and they made us wait without giving any proper assistance. Now they’re refusing to give a refund even though my son didn’t board the flight including the return ticket. This is really unacceptable.

If you book a ticket from their website, they’ll happily take your payment and then, after a few minutes, send you an email saying the seats are full.
Then they tell you that you can choose another flight and pay the difference between the current fare and what you already paid.
But ironically, the same flight I originally booked is still available, just at 3x the price.
This is SCAMMING AT ITS PEAK. 🚨

I am writing this to seriously caution everyone against using Akbar Travels. My experience with them was not just disappointing, it was outright fraudulent. They cheated me out of my money in the most unprofessional and unethical way possible.
I booked a ticket with Akbar Travels and even paid extra for a "fully refundable" option. But when I had to cancel, they refused to refund even a single dirham. Instead, they hid behind ridiculous conditions that they never disclose before booking. Their so-called “refund” is a trap because the only scenarios they consider valid are completely unrealistic:
Sudden death
Airline-cancelled flight
Natural disaster at the arrival airport
Police case at the origin destination
Clearly, these are excuses designed to ensure nobody ever qualifies for a refund. This is nothing short of daylight robbery.
Till now, I have exchanged more than 30 emails and spoken to multiple customer service agents—all useless. No resolution, no accountability, and zero professionalism. It is very clear that Akbar Travels has built its business on misleading customers, hiding facts, and pocketing people’s money.
👉 I strongly urge everyone to stay away from Akbar Travels. Do not book anything through them, no matter how attractive the offer may seem. If you do, be prepared to lose your hard-earned money.
We need to stand together and expose these unethical practices so that others don’t fall into the same trap. Akbar Travels is not just unreliable—they are running a calculated scam.

Disappointed with Akbar Travels’ Refund Process
I am extremely disappointed with the service I received from Akbar Travels regarding my refund.
On March 19, Gulf Air notified me of a change in my flight schedule (departure March 28 and return April 29). On the same day, I immediately informed Akbar to cancel my booking as the new timing conflicted with my schedule.
However, two days before the flight, I was surprised to receive a call directly from Gulf Air asking me to confirm the schedule change, since they had not received any cancellation request from Akbar on my behalf. This clearly shows that Akbar failed to act on my request.
At that point, I had no choice but to cancel directly with the airline and request a refund. Gulf Air confirmed that the refund process normally takes no more than one week. However, because I booked through Akbar, the airline advised me to inform the agency so they could formally initiate the refund.
This is where the major issue began. Despite Gulf Air’s refund policy, Akbar did not process my refund until May 31—more than two months after my initial cancellation request. During this entire period, I had to chase them with repeated follow-ups, only to be met with excuses and unclear responses. The delay was entirely due to Akbar’s negligence, not the airline.
This experience reflects a complete lack of professionalism, accountability, and customer service. A travel agency should make travel easier, but instead, Akbar caused me unnecessary stress and financial inconvenience by holding my money for months without justification.
Based on this, I cannot recommend Akbar Travels. If you value timely service, transparency, and responsible customer care, I strongly suggest booking elsewhere.
