Best steak we've ever had!
We visited a pop-up in Wyoming and left with a box of chicken, beef and fish. To us beef is a treat, something only eaten on special occasions for the most part. Cooked up a steak , medium-rare, that night and it was amazing! Super flavorful and tender! Meat is way better than Omaha steaks ever dreamed of being!
Service was excellent and informative.
Wasn't thrilled about the request for a tip, felt put on a spot.

Not sure where did I miss, but the amount of the steak is not enough. Sure, the promotion is nice with the 24 patties, but without it.. I get more meat from my local butcher.

Was not happy with the variety
Was not happy with the variety. Sirloins looked like scrap meat rolled up to look good in the packs. The pork chops and one of the fillets had a funny / old taste. We ordered marinated chicken and received habanero lime chicken breasts. Other than that the hamburger patties were good. Changing to another company,

The meat has terrible marbling, it looks like you injected them with water, and they are tougher than boot leather. Congrats on the scam. I'll be telling anyone asking about backyard butchers that yall scam people.

I dont feel the quality of the meat or amount of meat was worth the money. I gave it 2 stars because the guy who sold us the meat was a great guy.

Could you share a little more about which cuts you purchased with us and what you did not enjoy about them? :)
Things to be aware of....
Last time, I communicated concerns about several packages of ground beef having tares in the packages. The underside opposite the label can be very thin and when "tossed" in packages like hard rocks, the packages tare.
After communicating this to Backyard Butchers, they simply replied back stating "thank you for communicating this issue" with no offer to replace or even an apology for the issue.
I immediately cancelled my subscription even realizing I had another in process. The other was already beyond cancelling. For this last shipment, I had six packages of ground beef deliver partially thawed. It was a hot day for sure but contents should have survived but didn't. I DID NOT submit a concern for this issue, already knew there was no point.
Please note I was subscribed for their Steer In A Year program, a supposed equivalent a whole steer in the course of 12 months.. Before that, I was subscribed to the Backyard Box and no issues there. Problems began after I committed to the Steer in a Year program and mostly because there is 21 lbs of ground beef just tossed in the box seemingly without care. If they simply upgrade the packaging thickness, that problem may disappear, maybe.
And please do not get me started on their rewards program. I had accumulated substantial rewards and when I went to use a $50 discount code, it was no good for my current subscription. It could only be used to by some other box. Seriously!! I mean, what's the point....I'm already buying a crap ton of meat but have to buy more than I need to take advantage of rewards.
In parallel to this vendor, I was also buying from Butcher Box. I was trying out both vendors to settle and keep one. One time, I had a delivery with some packages that had thawed and I communicated that concern to Butcher Box. They immediately added the exact product to my next box at no cost.
As far as beef quality, I think both are similar, but I do like being able to select what I want from Butcher Box. No options to do that with Backyard Butchers; you get what's included in their standard boxes.
I actually think living here in East TN, the beef quality from either vendor is far better than what I can buy locally. And...this stuff comes frozen! Really disappointing the service, you guys were doing great.
So, I have cancelled one for the other when before this issue, I was going the opposite.

Not a bad experience Not great!
Got him at closing hours so he kind of rushed me and had friends that went sameday and got way better deals so was a little disappointed with that! But other then that wasn’t a bad experience wish he would have took his time even though it was closing hours the boxes aren’t exactly cheap so!!!

Wonderful Experience

Ordering was easy
Ordering was easy, the product arrived well-cooled. Some of the burgers had thawed, but that could have been carrier recklessness, as they were outside the cooling wrapper.

Backyard Butchers provides a quality product at a fair price. Their meat is delicious and better than what you find in most stores. Also, their customer service is top notch.
