Thank you for your review and for bringing this to our attention via email a few days ago.

We’re very pleased to hear that you love your bonsai and found it to be a wonderful tree. However, we completely understand your disappointment regarding the pot variation and sizing differences compared to the original listing photos and description.

We sincerely apologise that the expectation of variation was not made clear enough on this particular product listing at the time of purchase. Thanks to your feedback, we have now updated the product information to better explain that bonsai / pots for our "generic" range may vary slightly in style and dimensions between individual (premium range) bonsai trees.

As discussed, we were also happy to provide a partial refund to reflect this issue, and we really appreciate your understanding throughout.

Thank you for your feedback. We’re sorry to hear you’re disappointed with your order.

We did respond when you reached out, requesting photos so we could take a closer look, but you haven't included these in your response. We have since requested photos again but we haven’t received a response yet. If you’re able to send these over, it would really help us assess the situation properly.

That said, the pot supplied is a premium bonsai pot, and they are intentionally made to be relatively thin but they are of excellent quality. This is standard in bonsai cultivation, allowing for proper drainage, root health and balance. We’ve been growing and supplying bonsai commercially for many years using these exact types of pots - we have never had a complaint about them or had an issue using them ourselves.

Of course, if the item isn’t suitable for your needs, we’re more than happy to accept your return. We’ll provide full return instructions upon your response.

We appreciate your feedback and hope we can resolve this for you.

Update from having seen the images:
Thank you for your further feedback. Having now seen the bonsai pots you were previously using, we believe there may simply have been a misunderstanding regarding the style and quality of the pot supplied.
The pots you had before were a thicker, more standard chunky style of bonsai pot. These were standard pots. In contrast, the pot and matching drip tray we supplied are a more refined, higher-grade ceramic bonsai pot designed in a traditional style. Premium bonsai ceramics are often made thinner and lighter intentionally, as this reflects a higher quality finish and craftsmanship rather than lower quality.
A good comparison would be ceramic mugs or plates — finer, thinner ceramics are generally considered more premium and are often more expensive than thicker, heavier alternatives. The same applies to quality bonsai pottery.
We have used and supplied these pots for many years within our own bonsai nursery and have found them to be excellent quality both aesthetically and practically for bonsai cultivation.
Of course, we completely understand that personal preference plays a part, and if the style was not what you expected, you are welcome to return it. The pot received is exactly as per the photograph.
We would kindly ask if you would consider updating or removing your review, as we genuinely feel this situation stems from a misunderstanding about the type and quality of traditional bonsai ceramics supplied.

We have had 5 updates this morning concerning this via Trustpilot and I cannot follow the thread. Some of the information you are removing so there is no logical trail.

Thank you for your review and feedback.

I am sorry that you are disappointed with our customer service. We have tried very hard to help you, but unfortunately we are unable to replace bonsai that have not been cared for as per our guidance. The bonsai that you were gifted is a deciduous outdoor variety, which cannot be kept inside. We try to make it as clear as possible on our product description and care guide which you received with the tree. We suggest protecting the bonsai from long periods of harsh frosts to ensure they do not dry out, but we have never said it should be kept indoors.

Being a deciduous variety, the bonsai was just coming into leaf when you received it. We thoroughly check all of our bonsai before dispatching them to ensure they are perfectly healthy. When you received yours, it would have just been finishing flowering and beginning to leaf up. We understand that this may not look amazing when you receive it, but the magic was just starting.

We have tried our very best to offer you help and advice, and our bonsai expert responded to all of your questions as quickly as possible with a multitude of advice and guidance. We feel that it is unfair to say that ‘we did not want to know’ after spending so much time trying to help you get the most from your bonsai. We understand that it can be disappointing to lose a bonsai, but unfortunately we are unable to replace a bonsai that has not been cared for correctly, as per our T&Cs. As a family run business with a passion for growing bonsai, we want all of our customers to get the most out of their bonsai, and we really do try and help. We really hope that you will continue exploring the world of bonsai.
