Erroneous itinerary

On the face of it, Canadian Sky was a pleasant and polite company to deal with but beware if anything goes wrong! In my case they made an error in my itinerary so catastrophic that I missed my fight home. I was faced with a deadly quiet airport and nothing resembling a help desk. Although I’m in my 80s I am tech-savvy and was fortunately able to book a series of flights home on my iPad, albeit at a premium cost of over £1200. Many people would have been unable to take this action and I dread to think what the outcome would have been for them.

When I approached Canadian Sky I was appalled by their response: not only did they deny that there was an error, they came up with an outrageous explanation of why it went wrong, effectively blaming me for it! It was obvious to me that they were more interested in protecting their backs than observing the appropriate level of customer service and care.

I think the true measure of a company is how they respond when something goes wrong. Canadian Sky failed miserably on this. Buyer beware!

As our customer services team has explained to you, the flight departure time stated on your itinerary was correct and unfortunately you missed your flight. Had we been made aware of this, we would have done our utmost to assist you by rebooking you onto the next available flight and we are truly sorry that we were not given this opportunity.
We genuinely wish we'd had the opportunity to help and are really are very sorry this affected your journey home. We do hope that your travel insurance provider may be able to assist with a claim for your additional expenses.

Excellent in parts; let down by hotel bookings

Booked a multi site trip to Nova Scotia (NS) - flying into' Montreal then the 'Ocean' train to Truro NS; car hire to Sydney, Cape Breton Island NS, return to Truro NS, coach to Halifax NS then train back to Montreal. The flights, train and accommodation were arranged by Canadian Sky but I had to arrange car hire and coach travel to / from Cape Breton Island (NB car hire in NS with few exceptions is not open at weekends). One glitch, just before we went, the hotel booked in Halifax could not reopen in time following extended refurbishment but Canadian Sky sorted out a new hotel in the centre of the city (which we wanted as due to age and infirmities to limit walking etc). We were sent a new itinerary, 'confirmed' hotel vouchers and a revised ATOL certificate well in time. Then the day before we were due to travel, Air Canada cancelled our flight across the Atlantic due to strike action. The concierge team at Canadian Sky led by Jen Hillyer were fantastic trying to rearrange flights (at one time it looked we'd have to fly via the USA so we had to arrange and buy USA ESTAs) but to no avail. Therefore, we had to lose the first four nights / five days, i.e. no stay in Montreal or train to Truro NS. We now flew Air France to Paris CDG then WestJet (a budget Canadian airline) to Halifax NS. I had to book coach travel from Halifax airport to Truro and start our trip from there (Air France managed to lose our luggage but that was outside Canadian Sky's control). The trip was fantastic. The major problem arose as we were about to leave Cape Breton Island and travel some 400 km / 250 miles - 4.5 hrs travel to Halifax NS. The 'confirmed' hotel was not available, it not been booked. I was informed this was an error by the hotel booking company used by Canadian Sky. This caused further problems because our 'lost' luggage was forwarded there. I was told another hotel in downtown Halifax was arranged but then it wasn't available (the situation was not helped by it being a public holiday weekend in Canada). We eventually were booked into a hotel on the outskirts of Halifax, about an hour's travel by taxi / public transport from the centre / downtown area of the city! Taxi fares one way were CAD$ 35-40.00. So, we used public transport.
To sum up, the initial arrangements were okay (apart from having to arrange our own travel to / from Cape Breton Island) and efforts to arrange alternatives after the strike were outstanding.
What let the trip down was having to sort out out other hotels in Halifax on the move (mobile phone & data is very difficult in NS) and then having to stay well outside Halifax but that was not the fault of Canadian Sky but whoever they use to book the accommodation.
One quibble, the hotels were booked without breakfast but at two out of the three we were given complementary breakfasts. The third was so expensive we went to a local supermarket and brought our own cereal, fruit, juice etc. Perhaps, consideration could be given to including breakfast.

Superb itinerary

From the very first contact with Rachel we cannot fault this company. We booked a two week trip to Canada to take in the Calgary Stampede and Rocky Mountaineer Train. We gave Rachel a basic itinerary and she put together a fantastic package for us, arranging all the flights, hotels and transfers. Everything ran like clockwork, we were amazed how smoothly everything went. The Calgary Stampede was fantastic as was Banff and Lake Louise. The scenery was beautiful. The Rocky Mountaineer train was excellent and the logistics of taking our luggage from Lake Louise to Vancouver was seamless. We then went from Vancouver to Victoria and again, we could not fault all the transfers. We had an added bonus of being in Victoria during Deuce days when over 1000 vintage hot rods were in town. If looking to travel to Canada I would not hesitate in recommending Canadian Sky

Poor service received - wouldn’t recommend

I booked a trip of a lifetime to Canada, business class flights, an Alaskan cruise, gold leaf on the Rocky Mountaineer etc. When booking I advised the agent that we hadn’t cruised before so I would need her guidance & expertise. She advised to stay on an upper deck, I asked her to confirm the cabin & deck before I booked as I wanted to know exactly where we would be located on the ship. I stated that I could push the trip out to 2026 if needed to get what we wanted. 3 days prior to our cruise the cruise app advised that we were staying on deck 1 & not deck 7 as originally booked. I got in touch with the agent, they had difficulty getting in touch with their cruise agent due to time difference & also as it was close to the cruise sailing date. We continued to communicate & the day before the cruise, I was advised by email that they had done all they could, to no avail, they had cc’d their guest services on the email & advised that I could contact them on my return if I was still unhappy. I had booked a 5 star holiday & wasn’t getting what I had booked for 1 week of the trip. That was the last I heard from Canadian Sky, no follow up to see how the trip went or a request for feedback. On the morning of the cruise I checked the cruise app to see we had been moved to deck 8 with a balcony, that was a lovely surprise. Overall though, Canadian sky let us down, the holiday was very expensive (we were happy to pay it) but we had lots of unnecessary stress before the cruise which shouldn’t have happened. I wouldn’t use Canadian Sky or recommend them to anyone, based on our experience

As we didn't hear from you on your return, we assumed everything had been resolved to your satisfaction, so we are surprised and disappointed to receive this negative review.
When Holland America moved you from Deck 7 to Deck 1, this was technically a cabin upgrade. However, we completely understand that this didn't align with your preference for an upper deck location, which you had specifically discussed with our team during booking. Recognising your concerns, our team worked with Holland America to find a better solution. Through our efforts with the cruise line, we secured your move to Deck 8 with a balcony - providing the upper deck location you wanted plus enhanced amenities.
We're pleased this ultimately resulted in an outcome that exceeded your original Deck 7 booking. We understand, however, that the uncertainty beforehand was concerning, and we would be happy to discuss your experience further if you wish.
Ultimately though, we hope you were able to enjoy your trip of a lifetime to Canada and Alaska. Best wishes.

Extremely poor customer service

It has taken a long time for us to get over this experience but feel compelled to being it to the attention of potential holiday makers.

I'm sorry to say we are very disappointed with the support we have received from this company, and cannot believe such a poor level of response to a range of holiday related questions from them.

We booked a bespoke, once in a lifetime, very special trip due to take place in June 2024 - a 21 day self drive around eastern Canada taking in lots of special places, including areas where our ancestors had moved to in the last century - a real trip of discovery! Unfortunately due to some serious and unexpected health issues in our family, we had to cancel at the last minute and consequently lost quite a large deposit which we were unable to reclaim on our insurance policy.

Our disappointment with Canadian Sky is mainly that we were not given any support while we struggled to decide what to do. They refused to give us the detail itinerary until 7 days before we were were due to fly and not being familiar with the area we were unable to tell what would be involved each day. Despite several promises they simply did not return phone calls nor answer emails - we were left with no option but to cancel.

In addition to this, we were also very disappointed and surprised by the lack of help throughout the booking process. We have had to constantly chase responses over details to do with what was included at hotels and what wasn't for example meals and parking arrangements. Also we struggled to get confirmation of our booking on trips such as many of the days included ferry trips - clearly these needed to fit together however we had to chase to make sure. We didn't feel looked after at all. In fact one of the ferry crossings they arranged was not in time to get the flight back and when we questioned this their solution was to include an extra night stay in Halifax. If we had not identified this we would have been in real difficulty!

Overall this has been a very poor and stressful experience and we would strongly recommend that anyone thinking of booking with this company makes sure all the details are clear before paying the deposit. We lost well over a thousand pounds and feel very let down by the poor service we received which was no where near what you would expect from a company claiming ...
- emphasis on expert advice and first-class service,
- we endeavour to craft holidays that provide you with the best value possible,
- passionate about ensuring that every step of the booking process is unhurried, taking the stress out of your holiday search.

This was simply not the case in our experience, and consequently for us, was a completely false claim. Don't be fooled by these 'promises'.

Poor Customer Service

I spent over £10000 on a holiday to Canada with this company, travelling in September 2024. The reason for doing so was to make use of their knowledge and expertise. However since returning from my trip and raising some issues I had with some of the accommodation, the customer service I have received from the company has been very poor indeed. They have so far refused to take responsibility for the issues I encountered, even though they are a result of the company booking me in to unsuitable hotels. I can't even get anyone to call me to discuss the situation at the moment, but I will not be giving up until I get some satisfactory answers. Before my trip I had planned to use this company to book another Canadian holiday in the future, I won't be doing so now!

Fast response to our initial enquiry & excellent ongoing customer support


An excellent fast response to our initial enquiry with a very helpful lady (Donna) who listened to our requirements and quoted for the perfect holiday we wanted, including the Rocky Mountaineer.
Two unforeseen events (Jasper Wildfires & potential Air Canada strikes), meant changes had to be made to our itinerary at the last minute! The team at Canadian sky (especially Emma) worked hard to resolve the issues, resulting in a good outcome for us to enjoy our trip hassle free, thanks Canadian Sky for our 'trip of a lifetime'.

Canada, Calgary to Vancouver

We booked our trip to Canada one year ahead and Alan was brilliant in helping us plan our itinerary. We were very sad not to be able to visit Jasper due to the devastating wildfires but Emma rescheduled us without any fuss and was also brilliant with her help and advice! We had an amazing holiday driving over the Rockies from Calgary to Vancouver and we can’t thank you all enough for your help. We would definitely recommend your company to everyone.

Impressive Canadian Sky

Returned a couple of weeks ago from a Western Canada trip on the Rocky Mountaineer etc. All booked through Canadian Sky which then had to be re-planned due to the Jasper wild fires Everything went brilliant and we were really appreciative of all the hard work and pressure the staff there must have encountered in rebooking hotac etc at such short notice.
Have recommended Canadian Sky to both friends and family as well as my ex colleagues at BA.

Can't fault CanadianSky, very reasonable pricing and they listened to our requests and answered endless questions quickly and with patience. These questions included our worries about our return flight with AirCanada while we were away that could have been canceled due to a strike - they were already on it!

A bespoke trip

I've just got back from Canada, and just wanted to say how much I enjoyed the trip. Thank you so much for putting it all together, at the last minute, so professionally, and to such good effect. The Calgary and Banff visits worked out well, both the organised trips and the exploring on my own, and the Rocky Mountaineer lived up to expectations, both the landscape component and the logistics, organisation and service by the whole RM team.
And I enjoyed spending time with my family in Vancouver too.

Amazing service for a family trip of a lifetime

Just returned from the most amazing trip with our three teenagers. The plan was to travel from Calgary, to Banff, to Jasper, to Whistler and then from Vancouver to take an Alaskan Cruise. The week before we were due to leave, Jasper caught fire. Canadian Sky went above and beyond to reschedule our trip - our thoughts were with the people of Jasper but we didn't feel we missed out for one second, the alternative suggestion of Sun Peaks was spectacular and luxurious. Every single hotel was perfect and we had the trip of a lifetime. Highly recommend Charlotte, Emma and the team at Canadian Sky.

All went to plan

We booked flights & car hire for our recent Nova Scotia, New Brunswick & Prince Edward Island Road trip with Canadiansky who gave us the best quote by far. All went well & we would definitely use the company again

Trip of a lifetime

We booked with this company having no experience of them. We went from Calgary to Vancouver, over the Rockies, with several stops including the wonderful Rocky mountaineer train. We then flew to Toronto to see Niagara Falls. It was a very special trip for us. Our daughter had done this trip and enjoyed it so much, we had planned to go with her. Sadly she very unexpectedly passed away. Charlotte planned everything for us including all transfers, which ran like clockwork and made it so easy for us. The hand pick hotels were picked by Charlotte to fit into our budget and they were all good. The excursions were also exactly what we asked for. It was really the trip of a lifetime, made wonderful by the expert planning. We cannot thank Charlotte at Canada sky enough and highly recommend.

Fantastic holiday and a great company to deal with.

We went on a 9 night tour which includes the Rocky Mountaineer train. The package was put together under our instructions and nothing was "too much bother". The holiday itself was totally amazing and the memories will last forever. Whoever you speak to at Tropical Sky/Canadian Sky, you will receive first class treatment. Thoughly recommend this company.

A Great Rockies Experience.

My wife and I recently had a wonderful holiday in Canada.
This was made easy by Charlotte,who from start to finish helped form a fantastic time in Banff,Jasper,The Rocky Mountaineer,and Vancouver.

East Canada Fly and drive

The itinerary was great we flew over and picked up the car no problem. the recommended itinerary was fantastic and we saw such a wide range of Canada in a relatively short period of time.

For anyone visiting I would recommend for the majority of tourist activities will not be available in April and I recommend you wait a month for the "tourist season" to start. We missed out on a few boat tours but overall we had a great time.

The price was very reasonable. looking at the itinerary and hotels I was unable to get it cheaper than Canadian sky was. It was well worth Getting them to book it all. Was a lot less stressful and good value.
