I would strongly advise anyone considering Chips Ahoy Windscreens to think twice. What should have been a straightforward windscreen replacement turned into an absolute nightmare, leaving me with a dangerous vehicle, significant repair bills and a company that completely ignored me rather than taking responsibility.

I had my windscreen replaced by this company in November 2025. When I got back into my car after the work was completed, I immediately noticed that multiple electrical systems were no longer working and warning lights were appearing on the dashboard. My car had been in perfectly good working order before they touched it.

Not knowing the full extent of the damage they had caused, I ended up driving home in what I later discovered was a potentially dangerous vehicle.

I contacted the company the following day to report the issues, expecting some concern, professionalism or at the very least an offer to investigate. Instead, I was met with an incredibly patronising, dismissive and unhelpful attitude. I was spoken down to and made to feel as though I didn’t know what I was talking about. At one point, I was even told, “I’m not a mechanic.” An unbelievable response from a company responsible for carrying out work on people’s vehicles.

With no help whatsoever from them, I had no choice but to take my car to an independent professional garage.

The mechanic confirmed that during the windscreen replacement, the technician had CUT THROUGH AN IMPORTANT ELECTRICAL WIRE, causing multiple fuses to blow and resulting in the electrical faults. They also identified damage to the rain/light sensor, deep scratches around the windscreen and missing plastic components from the installation.

This wasn’t simply a poorly fitted windscreen. Their workmanship had caused serious damage to my vehicle and left it unsafe to drive.

As a result, I was left without a usable car, forced to arrange alternative transport and faced substantial unexpected expenses. The documented costs came to thousands of pounds including repairs, bodywork damage, hire car expenses and the original windscreen replacement.

What makes this experience even worse is how the company handled it afterwards. Rather than acknowledging the independent mechanic’s findings, investigating the damage or offering to put things right, they eventually stopped responding to me altogether.

I sent a formal complaint and a Letter Before Action, giving them the opportunity to resolve the situation, but they chose to ignore me.

I find it genuinely shocking that a company entrusted with people’s vehicles can carry out work that leaves a car in such a dangerous condition, treat the customer like they’re stupid when they raise concerns, and then refuse to engage when presented with evidence of the damage.

The poor workmanship was bad enough, but the complete lack of accountability, professionalism and basic customer care was even worse.

A simple windscreen replacement should not result in electrical damage, an unsafe vehicle and over a thousand pound of damages.

Please think very carefully before using Chips Ahoy Windscreens. My experience has been nothing short of disgraceful.

​ My daughter had windscreen replaced by Chips Ahoy Windscreens, but unfortunately, the new glass has visible distortion/wavy defects. When I contacted them to report the issue, they refused to fix it or offer a replacement, claiming that because I chose a cheaper option and signed their terms and conditions, they aren't responsible for the defective glass.
​A lower price should never mean receiving a defective, unsafe windscreen, nor should terms and conditions be used to escape basic quality standards. If you don't want to throw your money away, stay away from these cowboys! I am currently taking this matter further with the relevant authorities. Very disappointing service

We had a new windscreen fitted early Sept. We needed it done quickly as we were going on holiday. The windscreen is a complex one and Chips Ahoy had it in stock and could do it quickly. So far so good, We were assured by Chips Ahoy that they were one of the recommended installers for Aviva ( our insurance Co), Unusually we had to pay the bill ourselves and told to reclaim from Aviva. We should have realised at this point that something wasn't right ... 3 weeks on and several phone calls and we have now been advised by Aviva that Chips Ahoy are not a recommended installer and they would not pay for the bill. So we are now £680.00 out of pocket to Chips Ahoy. This is just a warning to double check with your insurer that they do use Chips Ahoy before proceeding, or you may be in the same predicament as us,

Brandon was quick and efficient. Chips ahoy as a whole was very good communicating very quick I rang at 5pm by 3:3pm the next day my windscreen was replaced, came to my place of work couldn’t fault them and highly recommend thanks again!

Not good customer service, AVOID company. I booked in to have my windscreen replaced at my house and I paid an £80 deposit so they could order glass. The appointment was cancelled late the night before due to staff sickness. I rebooked an appointment 2 days later at their Basildon unit, an 80 mile round trip from my house. After travelling 30 miles, I received a phone call to say the appointment is cancelled due to a system glitch. I rebooked again for another 2 days later and windscreen was replaced today. Four hours later, I received a call from a Joe saying I had not yet paid. I explained I was a nurse and was working a 13 hour shift so unable to pay until I was home to which he responded that I was sent a payment link and he will keep ringing until I have paid the money. This felt extremely unprofessional and unacceptable customer service. I asked Joe for any discount for the inconvenience to which he simply said no we don’t offer a discount as it was not their fault. Communication between Anthony and Josh was terrible throughout the whole process, both kept ringing me with different information, sending text messages and WhatsApp’s. Very disappointing and harassing a customer after only 4 hours of receiving an invoice is abysmal.

I contacted Chips Ahoy on the Friday and by wed Brandon had come round and done my windscreen, very quick service with plenty of notice on arrival, will use again .

Good guys. Booked with Anthony who was very helpful to get my windscreen fitted the next day. Charlie fitted my windscreen in an hour and was nice to deal with. Really swift process. Thank you

Chips ahoy windscreen would recommend them to anyone as they are fantastic very polite and do a fantastic job on your car i had charlie couldn't ask for a nicer man

Absolute rubbish company! The quality,service and customer support is non existent! Do not even think to contact them or to use their services! Pay a different company a bit more for quality works instead of using these amateurs!Very disappointed!

DO NOT PAY BEFORE YOU INSPECT THE CAR!!! THEY SCRATCH THE CARS AND APPLY PRIMER ON THE BODY PARTS.. PLEASE READ AND DO NOT TRUST THEM, MOST OF THE POSITIVE REVIEWS ARE BOUGHT, DO NOT FALL IN THE SAME TRAP AS ME.

That's sad this kind of business is allowed to exist. They are nightmare, liers and their quality of works is below any expectations, I have been delayed by almost a week, then instead to come to my address to replace the windscreen as agreed, they asked me to come to them. Once there, I've been told to go arround to Starbucks and wait from 1h to 1h30 min.

When I returned to them after mentioned time I found out that they only removed my old windscreen, then left the car aside and started another car, one man was running from one car to another instead of progress at least with one.

After three hours of waiting when I asked the ''runner'' how long it will take from now, his answer was ''probably another hour or so''...

Then I left, I had to pay for Uber and come back to take the car later. Then their ''boss'', the lier contacted me to say that they have to close down as they can not wait me 15 minutes after their program so I been asked to come tomorrow and leave the car there.

My biggest mistake was to pay before I inspected the car, then after I paid,they took the car out of garage and I found at least 7 new scratches on the car (the car is 16000 miles), a crack on one of the trims and glass primer on the bodywork, it can not be removed, screws missing. Do not use their service as you will be disappointed.

Great friendly service from Anthony who rang to give me a qoute to Charlie who completed the work. Charlie explained everything that would be done along with the warranty.

I got my rear windscreen replaced with Chips Ahoy in Basildon. They were very prompt with the quote and found me a good price and quality glass for next working day fitment.
Upon arrival Charlie explained the process to me and advise me when the car would be ready. Once fitted he explained the all windows had to stay shut for 24 hours to allow the screen to fully cure. The service was effortlessly and efficient plus a courtesy call next day to see if I have any issues.
