Cuprinol garden shades is the biggest scam ... Absolutely rubbish... For last 3 years every year I've painted our fence and in maximum 8 months is just washing off ... never 6 years protection How they get away with this I can't understand

We have used Cuprinol decking oil, some years ago, as well as recently. - Put loads & brush it in well. We did this & left it rather wet, to soak in, as we only got chance at it once. Have to say it did very well again. We used more than twice the guided amount, again, yet our decking woods were very dried out & in dire need. (I would, eventually, rather choose a nice large stone aggregate with huge, no need to cement, paving stones, though the decking was already with the property upon purchase).

Spent £100 on ducks back,absolute rubbish.It just disappears in places.
My panels had been properly prepared by a professional painter of 35 years,2 coats in really hot weather in June.
Contacted them,the excuses 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
🤣The wood in places had been weathered to the point where it won’t adhere(panels are only 6 yrs old)
🤣Any wood cracks, splits or gaps that have not been filled, can allow moisture ingress that undermines paint adhesion.
🤣Insufficient or non-existent use of a fungicidal wash to clean the surface may have allowed mold or green growth particles to form beneath the coating
We have been painting panels for nearly 30 years,never had a problem.
So DONT waste your time emailing,these are the generic excuses you will get.

Used Cuprinol shades Forget-Me-Not for my shed
Decided to change the colour from Seagrass. Put the first coat on and the old surface seems to be repelling the new paint and gives it a dappled appearance. Any suggestions since a light sanding to provide a key doesn't appear to work.

Opened a new tin of cuprinol garden shades in silver birch today to revamp my garden bench. To say its pathetic is a understatement. It is like painting with coloured water, the consistency of the stain is extremely thin, watery & dripping.. bought two tins of the stuff.. very, very disappointed..

Purchased Dusky Aloe. The example on the tin is a grey colour, however, the actual paint is mint green. Very deceiving. Very disappointed and will be returning the unopened ones

Cuprinol ducksback fence paint is not as good as they make out , keeps washing off , brand new panels , sick off painting it , worst paint I have ever come across , been in building trade over 35 years . Five year guarantee what a joke lol

One coat of paint went on OK. The second did not. The tin advises that at least 2 coats are required, so how do you apply the second when it doesn't lay?

I used this paint by years - always was happy - this year I bought 2 can garden shades in BQ and it peels off next day

It’s not thick as was in years before - now it’s like water consistency - I don’t know what you did with this paint but you changed formula and now it’s totally crap

Following a previous review, I was advised to email cuprinol with all of the details. I have received excellent customer service and communication, particularly from Helen Dooley and Damon Bain. Wouldn't hesitate to use again.

Painted my garden gate with 2 coats of White Daisy garden shades.
2 days later it has turned yellow and looks awful.
I have now read that I'm not the only customer that thos has happened to.
I have since read that ot is a nightmare to paint over as the paint,although water based,has a waxy coat that repels amd over coating.
I am so disappointed with this product.

Such poor customer service. I used the ducksback product. There is nothing on the instructions to advise that if the product goes on any other service to wash off immediately. I thought that the product was a fence stain rather than a paint. I spilt a lot on my Indian sand stone patio. I have spent a lot of time, effort and money trying to remove what I now know is paint with no success. There should be a warning on the product to wash off immediately. Upon contacting customer service all they advised was to jet wash and sent a google link. Needless to say that the first thing I had done was to google for assistance. My patio appears to be permanently stained!

I bought 2 tins of white daisy, garden shades for my summer house. After applying it , when it started raining a day later it’s started going yellow. Not fit for purpose. I also used 2 tins of fresh rosemary which was fine. Must be a bad batch. There can’t be any quality control at Cuprinol.

To start with the stain is much lighter than the colour it shows on the tin but that wasn’t too much of a big deal, painted our decking with two coats on Wednesday/Thursday. Dried and looked lovely. It’s raining heavily today (Saturday) and the stain is literally peeling off under foot and the decking is starting to look a mess, I can only imagine what it’s going to look like is a few weeks. Going to have to try brush it all off and salutary again with a different brand. So disappointed.

This product is almost impossible to apply in the recommended number of coats. The instructions on the tin make no mention of this.
About five years after first applying it I've tried to recoat it it.
On avice from Cuprinol I sanded the existing coat down and applied methylated spirit to remove algae deposits. Applying the first new coat went reasonably well.
When I tried to apply a second coat as recommended (about six hours after the first on part of the job and 24 hours after a different part) it was a massive struggle to get it to stick as the immediately previous coat was repelling it.
Further advice form Cuprinol suggested that I break down the wax surface by stiff brushing before recoating!
This degree of preparation work is inconsistent with a garden wood preservative and is never mentioned on the tin. I'm aware that this material contains waxes but the tin instructions clearly indicated by not mentioning this stiff brushing that I could simply apply a further coat provided I observed the time between coats it specified.
In simple terms this product does not conform to description because it omits to mention the work necessary to apply the recommended two to three coats.

I recently bought 3 tins of Cuprinol Country Cream for my garden fence ready to use once I had completed some other renovation works in my garden. I have used Cuprinol products in the past and appreciate it is more expensive than other brands as I would deem it a premier product especially the shades collection. On opening the tin I found the paint to be extremely watery but on stirring it did thicken up somewhat though not to what I expected. More disappointing however was the colour. It was far more white in appearance than the colour label showed. I appreciate the colour on application is always going to be slightly different but after 3 coats I may as well have purchased bright white because there was definitely no warm colours showing through. As I purchased the paint a few months ago, the retailer will not take them back and I am now stuck with 2 unopened paints along with the time taken in painting my fence. Trust me this paint is not cheap. I don’t mind paying extra for perceived better quality but I feel I have been had. Looks like it’s Ronseal from now on in
Just to update that their customer service has since been in touch. Have to say that their response in dealing with the complaint has been absolutely fantastic especially with a lady called Helen. Would still be a 1 star for the original complaint but if I was reviewing customer service departments it would definately be a 5 out of 5

Just bought Cuprinol + for my shed.it separates on the previous coat, also Cuprinol .Not happy

Excellent paint, good coverage and beautiful colours plus was delivered within two days.

I bought a tin of Cuprinol natural stone garden paint, Luckily I tried it out before going ahead. Looks like a decent natural stone colour on the label, but the paint itself is an entirely different colour. More like an off-white, I thought it might darken down with drying, but I believe it actually got lighter. Not cheap and no use to me at all.
