Daisy White is so thin it will take at least 6 coats if not more to give solid colour...therefore not worth the money or my time

Bought some Cuprinol Garden Shades exterior wood paint to repaint my garden gate. Don't waste your money. It is very thin and watery and splatters everywhere during application no matter how slowly and carefully you apply it. I've so far put 3 coats on top of the pressure quite similar colour and it still hasn't fully covered it - think I'll need at least 1 or 2 more coats. I will not buy this product again

If I could give a zero, or even a minus figure here, I would!
I have used Cuprinol Garden Shades for years on a wooden wishing well planter that my late Dad made me. It has always been good in the past and one coat would cover well. This year I have tried two different colours, firstly Beach Blue (which was a lot brighter than on the tin, so bright I'm sure it could be seen from outer space!) It took THREE coats to build up to what one coat would do in previous years and still not covered very well!
On opening the tin I immediately noticed how much thinner it was than it had been in the past and that was confirmed as soon as I started stirring it. Using it, it was very thin and streaky as well as feeling and looking like I was painting on top of grease, or wax. It was a real nightmare to use. I put it down to just being from a bad batch. As it was too bright I decided to get a darker shade to paint the bottom section and bought the colour Iris. Nice colour but exactly the same problems as the colour I'd used on the top - extremely watery and thin and again had the terrible streaking and painting on wax feel and look. I've given it two coats, allowing it to dry in between and the second coat has made no difference at all, still very streaky so still not covering at all well. Never again will I buy Cuprinol. They have obviously changed the consistency, it now seems like more water has been added. With the price of paint these days I feel the two tins I bought have been a total waste of my (very limited) money. I'm on an extremely tight budget and can't afford this waste with the result it's had! Never again! Get your any together Cuprinol or risk reports from your customers to trading standards and a possible ensuing investigation into the make up of your paint and testing whether its really fit for purpose!

Not only is this paint not fit for purpose but it has totally ruined my brand new log cabin.
I followed the instructions and the second coat would not stick at all. I then gave up and water tested the areas a few days later which still only had one coat and it’s literally washing off the paint. I now can’t paint anything over the top due to the wax coating which doesn’t even work! I now have to sand an 8.5m cabin and find a better product to use. Also, the quality is awful. It’s like painting with milk. Even after two coats it didn’t even partially cover. Total waste of time and now I’m going to spend literally weeks sanding it all off. I have used this on other projects in the past and never had a problem, they seem to have reformulated it and now it’s the worst product I’ve ever used. Avoid at all costs.

Used garden shades before but brought 10 tins of sea grass and is like painting with milk. Got a shed and done three times and will not cover. Complete waste of money and shouldn’t be watered down to this extreme. Wish hadn’t wasted my money and hours of time. Will buy a product elsewhere that does the job!

Cuprinol Autumn Gold DucksBack has changed colour since 2024, not just a slight batch change. Hopefully when the fence I’ve been touching up dries it won’t look too obvious, (but if you’re updating/ replacing one fence panel please be aware.

After 6 decades of fence painting this is the best.

It's not the cheapest but lasts and great to use

Cuprinol Garden Shades - Don't waste your time or money ... the absolute worst paint I've ever used ... 1st coat - rubbish ... 2nd coat - rubbish .... 3rd coat - rubbish ... 4th coat - rubbish - now had 5 coats and still looks terrible - what you'd expect from a 1st coat! It was a case of having started there wasn't any going back. Paint is like water and goes on as such. Wasted a whole weekend using this on some raised timber flower beds and really wish I hadn't bothered. As it was Cuprinol I wrongly thought it would be a decent paint. Just thank God I didn't use it any any fences.

I bought a tin of harvest brown as I had used this successfully in the past. I had to return it as the paint had a pronounced orange tint to it. I contacted Cuprinol and was told that it was a rogue batch and sent me a voucher for replacement. I got a new tin from a different supplier and it was still the same so will not be getting this again!!

I initially had an issue with the colour of Cuprinol Ducksback “Herring Grey,” which appeared much more blue than expected. While the first response I received was frustrating, the matter was later escalated and handled extremely professionally.

Laura listened to my concerns, acknowledged the issue, and worked quickly to put things right.

The complaint was resolved with excellent communication, a replacement paint voucher,
I really appreciate the way the situation was ultimately handled and the effort made to restore confidence in the brand. Great customer service once escalated.

Ordered a 2.5ltr bucket of Beach Blue Garden Shades wood paint for our shed. We had an email from Cuprinol to say that they were out of stock, but could place the order with Dulux who could make us the paint or a refund.

We asked to have the paint made through Dulux and it was hand delivered to our home.

The paint was a little watery and we weren’t sure if it would cover the old paint, but after 2 coats we were pleasantly surprised with how well the colour came out!

The quality of the colour is fantastic and were accurate to the reference images of the shade.

The service we received from them was also superb!

We are already looking at other colours in the range to help make our garden summer vibe ready!

I used Cuprinol garden furniture restorer on my teak table top. It was useless.it did none of the things it claimed and my table looked just as bad as it did before the application. I followed the instructions to the letter.it remained grey and dirty looking.
It wasn’t cheap but it doesn’t do what it claims. The table is left out in the summer but stored in a barn over the winter.

Used Ducks Back on my fences 9 months ago colour and paint is now coming off the fence. What a waste of money when is says it will last 5 years , I will never use the product or recommend it again.

Purchased Silver Copse Ducksdback while I was happy with the product the colour is nothing like advertised. It's supposed to be a mid grey however, it's definitely a shade of navy blue. Can't afford to keep buying tins of fence paint to test. Any ideas how I can get it to a mid grey?

just moved into my property fences have never been painted before so happy how they come up and that's only the first coat covers them very well and love the colour silver corpse thank you will be using this all time

I used the Cuprinol Garden Shades to paint anl bare wood Adirondack chair and footstool. Despite them getting a lot of use, the paint lasted much longer than the six years specified. I repainted them yesterday, applying lovely forget-me-not over the original paint and it was a joy to use. I applied it with a brush, rather than a sprayer, as I was working in a confined space, but even so each coat took only an hour to do, with the paint going on smoothly and evenly. I applied two coats, with about three hours in between. Both coats dried evenly, leaving my very old Adirondack chair and footstool looking like new. I just wish I had thought to take before and after photos, as I could have included them in this review.

Gave me the answer I need so I didn’t buy the wrong thing

Very thin and watery , despite applying several coats i still can’t get a coverage that isn’t transparent . This tints the wood, it isn’t paint and shouldn’t be advertised as such. Will be going straight in to the bin and I won’t buy from Cuprinol again.

Despite preparing and cleaning decking prior to application the decking paint wasn’t adequate to cover the area it specified it would. Bought another tin and within weeks the paint had peeled off. The end result is terrible and the paint has all but come off leaving the decking looking terrible. A very expensive mistake and very dissatisfied

We put 3 coats of cuprinol decking stain on the decking by our door. I now spend every day cleaning my tiles trying to get off the paint fragments off. It's even coming off on areas which aren't walked on. We're going to have to blast this rubbish off. A very expensive waste of time and money.
