We used Gaby Hardwicke for our sale and purchase. Everything was explained to us in laymans terms and without any trouble. We were kept up to date at all times and our calls were returned the same day - it’s a shame the other side’s solicitors weren't as efficient! We’d highly recommend Gaby Hardwicke.

we asked this company to carry out a relatively simple legal transaction,but in the end something went wrong and we felt the solicitors werent helping us as clients and it all went wrong so we ended up paying £750 plus vat for nothing.i wish id read the reviews before i used this firm

We found Jon Fielden excellent to work with, he was prompt, clear and meticulous in his communications and recommendations. We also found him very fair in how he charged us and worked with us as a charity.
re Private Client team. The firm refused to take my case on without giving me a reason despite me asking, which I understand is a breach of Law Society guidance. I was told they made the decision prior to any conflict check so it makes it seem like they are either too busy (just say so) or are not competent enough for the situation at hand (again just say that's the case). Incidentally the Receptionist who took my call and had to call me back was very polite.
Do not use this firm!!! They cost us £9000 when they didn’t inform us of multi dwelling stamp duty relief and a further £1000 when we came to sell the property 8 years later(we used a competent solicitor this time) because it came to light that they had omitted to transfer part of the garden into our name at the time of purchase!!! Unbelievable for supposed “professionals”!
Not ready to exchange contracts on a house purchase! We were a 3rd party and Gaby Hardwicke in Bexhill were acting on behalf of our vendors who were selling relatives house under power of attorney.
The only other party in the chain were our first time cash buyers and it was agreed that the deadline for exchange of contracts would be no later than the 11th April with completion the following week.
However,on the 11th April the agent called me to say that Gaby Hardwicke claimed not to have received a copy of the signed contract,despite Royal Mail tracking confirming that had been delivered after all on the 11th April!
As well as this Gaby Harwicke unexpectedly at this late stage said they needed photo ID from one of the vendors who lived overseas,and without this they could not exchange.Not sure why the missing photo ID was not resolved much earlier in the process!
As a result exchange of contracts did not take place on this date and our buyers were very disappointed.Even the following day the 12th the photo ID issue had not been resolved according to the agent,and on Thursday the 13th our buyers pulled out leaving us devastated.
We have been forced to put our house back on the market and meanwhile your clients have managed to find new buyers for the property in Bexhill leaving us with considerable costs for this failed transaction.
I have past experience with this firm. They handled my business until a wealthier relative wished to retain their services in a dispute with me. Thereafter, they refused to continue with me, stating there would be a conflict of interest in doing so. When I pointed out they were acting in an unethical way, their response was, "We can act for whoever we want to."
EXTORTIONATE FEES & Pricing so beware. Final bill over £500 for an abortive purchase of garden (few emails and phone calls . Charged for every second of phone call and emails even if ringing or emailing more than normal to actual get a response ! Bought and sold properties before and never experienced anything like these type of charges perhaps I’ve been lucky. The initial completed conveyance was only £900 and this was aborted in the very early stages
my first impressions of this solicitors was not good. I was kept waiting for ten minutes for an initial 30 minute meeting, for which I was expected to pay. I felt as professional lawyers, they undervalue their customer, and therefore decided not to use them.
My family has been a client for decades. When I recently asked them to undertake conveyancing for me they refused stating there was a conflict of interest, but they wouldn't tell me what it was. My buyer is using a different solicitor, so go figure!! Unbelievable and so arrogantly dismissive.
Be aware of additional charges. I asked this firm to assist me with a Commercial Break clause notice which I paid them for. I called them on. a couple of occasions in regards to my existing case. I received a further bill of £225.00. You must read their terms carefully before agreeing to deal with them. I have also requested a call recording of my calls which they cannot provide to me. As a law firm you would expect all calls to be recorded.
