Caravan insurance renewal
My caravan insurance was due to be renewed and I was notified. I phoned them and was dealt with efficiently and the person LISTENED to me.
The price was good and they promised to send me a hard copy in the post, which arrived the next day. That told me that the person I'd spoken to had taken responsibility for this request rather than fobbing it off to another department where I'd get it a fortnight later...or not at all.
I like it when telephone operatives know their job. It gives me confidence in the company.
The service from the person I spoke to was very polite and helpful

Avoid Grove & Dean for vehicle insurance.
I've recently bought another van after being without one for a year. During the quote I put I'd got 7 years no claims discount.
After accepting & paying for the policy they suddenly wanted proof of the NCD. Nothing unusual about that but slightly difficult in the circumstances. I managed to contact the previous van insurer from a year ago and they were able to provide a certificate for 4 years. Submitted this to Grove & Dean but that was unacceptable, they wanted the 7 years quoted.
I looked elsewhere for van insurance, got a cheaper quote and they were able to validate 9 years NCD without the need for me to provide any proof.
So cancelled with Grove & Dean and they want to charge £75 service fee. Totally unacceptable for their incompetence.

We’re sorry to hear about your experience and understand your frustration regarding the validation of your No Claims Bonus and the charges applied following the cancellation of your policy.
To ensure customers are insured on the correct terms and premium, it is important that all information provided during the quotation process is accurate and can be supported if requested. In this case, the policy was arranged based on 7 years of No Claims Bonus being declared. However, the documentation provided was only able to verify 4 years.
Had 4 years of No Claims Bonus been declared at the point of quotation, the insurer would have assessed the risk and premium based on this information. As we were unable to validate the 7 years originally declared, the policy could not continue on the terms agreed at inception.
We appreciate that obtaining historical proof can sometimes be difficult, and we understand this was frustrating. While we are pleased you were able to obtain cover elsewhere, different insurers may have different validation processes and acceptance criteria.
Regarding the cancellation fee, this charge relates to the administration and work carried out in arranging and subsequently cancelling the policy. These charges are made available and agreed to before the policy is purchased.
We regret that your experience did not meet your expectations and thank you for taking the time to share your feedback.

It was time to renew my policy, however the g&d web page kept rejecting my payment. Tried to sort it out but the auto bots were simply not up to the job. Waiting time to speak to a living agent was tiresome.

This is the second time I’ve used grove…
This is the second time I’ve used grove and dean and the cover looks very comprehensive although the cost varies month on month when searching from £200 ish to £2k for the same vehicle.
Also on cancellation if needed they took 9 months of the remaining policy last time, but I half expected that.
Not had to make a claim for years so can’t comment there.
