We recently had a new Hallmark Front Door fitted. It was a Seville 2 anthracite door with Abstract glass. The door itself is fine but we had the choice of getting the letter box either in the centre or at the bottom. We chose centre seeing as when we went on to the Hallmark website to design our door it showed the letter box bang in the centre of the top and bottom glass panels and level with the handle and it looked very nice. However, when we received the door the letter box was not in the middle of the two glass panels and was lower than the handle which looks stupid. They have put it in the ‘actual’ centre of the door but because the two glass panels are not equidistant from the top and bottom of the door it doesn’t look right. Our installer queried this and was told that on the website it says that ‘Images are for illustration purposes only and are not to scale’ and if we had a special requirement we should have asked at the point of order. The only choices were ‘centre’ or ‘bottom’ and there was nothing on their website to say that it was an option to ask for it where it showed on the design page (which we thought was what we would get anyway). Anyone with an eye for design would have put it in the middle of the two glass panels level with the handle and it’s nothing to do with being to scale. Two people have already asked us why we put the letter box where it is, thinking that WE had done that.

Also, because we could not see a sample of the Abstract glass, we contacted Hallmark to ask what the best glass would be to go in our side panel that would blend in with the Abstract glass and they suggested Stippolyte. Personally now that we have seen the Stippolyte we think the Charcoal would have been a better match and the Stippolyte has a blue tinge when the sun shines on it which doesn’t look great. We initially thought there had been a sticker on the glass that had left a mark but eventually realised that as the sun moves round and the glass is in the shadow the tinge disappears. At certain times of the day half the side panel is blue and half normal depending on where the sun is. We definitely would not have chosen this glass had we known it would look like this.

*** Response to reply from Hallmark: Not sure why you are now saying that you would re manufacture the door as that was not an option when the installers were here and queried it at the time, and is it normal to put the letter box bang in the middle of the door regardless of where the glass panels sit or was this door made wrong in the first place?

When looking for a new door I sourced an independent fitter in Liverpool. Their website had a brochure which I perused and the I noticed that the doors were made in Hull - I had relocated from Hull a number of years ago.
I did not hesitate to contact the fitter and place my order, the door was fitted earlier this week and it is a beautiful robust door - I am so pleased with the quality and look.

Just had a replacement front door fitted by Gibbons Windows (Eastbourne).
Chapter arrived just after 8am as scheduled. Fitted new door. Took old door away, left the space clean and tidy.
1st class job. Would recommend them to anyone.

Spray can in packaging had exploded and damaged the handle. Window cassettes had scorched paintwork, waiting for replacements. Second Hallmark door we have had with problems.

Our Door is Beautiful, better than I expected. It makes the front of the house look so different and before it was even finished being installed, we were getting our neighbours complimenting and asking about it.
From the inside it makes a statement also, the stained glass looks amazing, the colour are very vibrant which light up my hallway.
Overall we are thrilled with our investment of our new door.
Now on the not negatives because I can't say there are any to be honest....but I would say the outer side if coloured could do with maybe two or more coats of paint. As it does seem very thin, also all the trim that gets put on last is so thinly pained that a slight touch with anything metallic or hard lifts or scratches the paint leaving bright white underneath....so I would say these would benefit from at least a double coat.
But overall the door besigne Quality Looks And Fit ARE GREAT....
