I, too, purchased a costly pre-lit Christmas tree a few years ago from Hammacher Schlemmer and found burned out LED light bulbs in the first year of ownership. The tree came with replacement light bulbs but they are far dimmer than those that were pre-installed; they must be of lower voltage. And these dimmer bulbs were lost to me in a wildfire last fall. I contacted customer service last Christmas an requested another bag of replacement LED multi-color bulbs; they never arrived. This December (2022) I contacted them again and found that H-S doesn't provide replacement lights for the tree I purchased. I went to the tree manufacturer's website and found that they do not stock or sell the multicolor LED light bulbs for their artificial trees. Finally I ordered replacement lamps two times from Amazon and discovered that both kinds of (same fit and exact same style) LED lights just won't light on my HS tree! I would caution a potential buyer for HS Christmas trees to be careful about the LED replacement light problems!

I ordered Heated Gloves. Paid top dollar. What came was a joke, little to no warmth. Now I get robbed of shipping fees, because they sold something that is no where close to what they had listed. I should have checked the reviews on this place first.

Ordered a 16 foot inflatable. They sent us Armor All garage mats instead. Item was sold out. Have to wait til after we ship it back to get our refund, which I’m pretty sure is not going to be refunded. Cost over 400 dollars. Stay away from this company. They don’t care.

Bought a gift certificate, they sent an email and mailed the number in an unsealed envelope. Used within a week and it was an invalid number. Service doesn't respond to multiple e-mails and the phone number they give is anther scam designed to get you to buy more and redirect you from service. Out a big chunk of money.

Bought a Shiitake Mushroom Log months ago and a dud. Followed all instructions and nothing so contacted customer contact three times but NO REPLY. Scammers and they advertise UNCONDITIONAL GUARANTEE, BS! As others, do not order or use Hammacher!

I find it amazing that this scam of a company has been in business so long, basically with their catalogue and now online presence, touting that they “test” their products and that they are all of exceptional quality, plus regaling us with their “lifetime warranty”. First of all, I have purchased several items from them through the years. All of them have turned out to be of extremely low quality, and their lifetime warranty turns out to be deceiving and basically bogus.
A case in point was an expensive outdoor clock. I purchased it from their company, since our family was creating a memorial garden from my mother, who was also a grandmother and great-grandmother. The clock came with a customized under-hanging plaque. After less than a year the clock stopped working, but being that these were supposed to be high-quality clocks, I figured there was something wrong with the batteries. I tried every type out there, and the clock continued to stop.
Believing that Hammacher Schlemmer did have a lifetime warranty I called them up. First off, the customer service rep I spoke to was rude, uncaring, and accusatory. It was as if they were trained to do whatever was necessary to dissuade anyone from any kind of refund or return. Of course it also appeared that this rep was not at all connected to the company but was a third party rep from one of those cheap overseas third-party operations that they had hired to do their “dirty work”. What I was finally told was that first off they no longer offered that item, so my option was to ship it back to them AT MY COST (which being a large and heavy item would have been expensive), and that if and when they received it, they would not reimburse me, but rather give me a store credit that I could only use for another one of their items. And to add insult to injury, if I did go along with this insane offer, and did purchase some other low-level item from them, I would also have to pay for the return SHIPPING!
At that point I looked for a local clock repair shop. I did find an excellent one and brought it over, He immediately laughed and said he’s seen these a lot, and asked if I purchased it from Hammacher Schlemmer. He said that this was true of most of their merchandise, since they inventory the cheapest materials. In the case of this clock, the clock mechanism they use is made for a small desk clock, not a large outdoor clock with large heavy hands, which is why it keeps stopping. He told me that the clock and hands of this size need a special heavy-duty mechanism to run the hands and not burn out. Although the price to replace this clock with the proper mechanism, along with the labor was about the same as the original clock, being customized as a memorial for my mother, I told him to fix it. He did, and even gave me a discount, and a bit of advice which was: “stay away from Hammacher Schlemmer!
The clock is back in our garden. And now I’m passing on his advice to you. Stay away from the scam outfit Hammacher Schlemmer. And if you do have any items
from them, be aware that their “Lifetime Warranty” is not for a lifetime… it’s not even a warranty! They do not support or back up anything they sell. And for good reason. It’s crap.

defective product out of the box . wanted to return it ,and pay cost of 10 bucks to return it . WTH never again !!!

I ordered a retractable windshield shade for my make and model vehicle. the one they sent did not fit. they then told me they don't have one for my vehicle. i have to package it, ship it and pay for return shipping and wait 3 to 4 weeks after they receive it to get my refund.

I ordered "The Musical Plush Caterpillar" for my 2-year-old grandson and it was a BIG HIT!!
It was worth every penny. It plays "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star" and the the ABCs song. Plus it has the entire scale from middle C to high C in the segments of this colorful soft caterpillar with a pleasant smiling face. The child insisted on sleeping with it. His parents simply turn off the battery component and say the caterpillar is sleepy now when naptime or bedtime comes.

The 6-month-old is eyeing it already! :)

Can't tell you exactly how angry I am with this clip joint. Hammacher Schlemmer is totally fraudulent! I ordered a jacket from them. It doesn't even come close to what they advertised. I already have a jacket like this, they charged double the going price. I promtly returned it. They shorted me $32 on my refund. Highway robbery! WARNING!!! Unless you want to get swindled stay away from Hammacher Schlemmer!

I ordered a 150 ft. lg. Expanding Contracting hose. The catalog and the packing slip describes the hose as a 150 ft. lg. hose. What was delivered to me was (2) 75 ft. hoses. Customer service told me that the catalog description is wrong, and that they always send (2) 75 ft. hoses. This is a clear misrepresentation in their catalog and must be fixed.

Unethical to say the least. Said they shipped my package to the wrong address and then told me because I ordered it on the website I would have to dispute it with my credit card company. They screwed up and owe me the item. I’m not filing a fraudulent claim with my insurance company so they could keep the money! Basically they stole 170$ from a customer. It says 174 years in business! I doubt that is how you keep business. That 174 sign is a gimmic.

Order an item that they sent a "replacement" for, in the WRONG size, and with no explanation or paperwork as to why. I called the company to order the original item. When I contacted them, confused at getting an item I did not order, I was told that the original item was no longer available. My first question was why didn't they tell me that it was unavailable when I called to order the item in the first place? BUT they chose rather than telling me that when I called originally to instead send something else to replace it... something that I could not use.
When contacting them to get my money back they asked that I take the item to the nearest FedEx store to ship it back. I could not do that due to caring for a husband with dementia. They then told me I would get 100% of my money returned if I would put the item out for FedEx to pick-up. The box staid outside for 8 days. It was gone after that but a credit was never given. A credit that they promised to have it in my account within a week.
As a retired person caring for a husband with dementia, and the item being over $100 it is difficult to imagine a company treating their customers like this! NEVER buy or trust this company!

Hammacher website deliberately leaves out manufacturer and model/serial# data out of the descriptions and pictures on their site. we bought a treadmill thinking it was made in America and therefore more expensive. which we were ok with. however, when the product was delivered, we found out that it was made in China and not only that was marked up $308 from the same product on Amazon.com. we called them out on this BS and they only stated that they would refund our shipping costs of $48. we will never order anything from them again. Sleezy, skeezy business model and practices. oh and if we wanted to return it for their lifetime warranty about not being satisfied they stated they would retain a $150 freight charge automatically. How is this company still around if they are ripping off people like this on a regular basis. ??? where is the CFPB or BBB in all this???

The Chicago store which was located on Michigan avenue for many years closed or moved a few years ago. I have ordered their Orthoheel women walking shoes for years which immediately ended the painful Plantar Fasciatis due to my walking home from work @ Northwestern hospital. I am also pleased with sandals purchased for my daughter and myself. The Customer Services representatives, except for one have all been excellent. The products and customer service has been excellent. Imagine my surprise as I read so many reviews written by upset or disappointed shoppers. This is not to say that any of their reviews were wrong. I am just saying that I have not had the same experience. I am sorry that they had bad experiences. As I searched for another company's rating, I plugged in Hammacher Schlemmer out of curiosity expecting to see 5 star reviews. P.J.southloop.

I order a rubber alligator (Pool Guarding Gator) that you place in a swimming pool to scare away animals for Mother's Day 2021. My mom woulda love it... HOWEVER it was on back order immediately for EIGHT weeks. When it finally arrived it broke, LITETERALLY in 24 hours on first use. The eyes light up and the battery compartment had a leak and battery fluid dripped into my folks swimming pool. Lovely - right?

After all this BS they want ME to pay for return shipping and have to wait 3 weeks for a return. This company is disgusting.

Worst customer service. I called yesterday and no one picked up. I thought maybe it was the changing of the shifts, so I called again today. Again no one picked up. Eventually a voice message said there was a one hour wait time! I emailed them my question, and they said they will get back to me within 24 hours!

I paid almost 50 dollars for expedited shipping (two day delivery) a week ago and the gift I purchased has not even been delivered yet! They will not refund me the money I paid for expedited shipping. When I answered their e mail about this my message was Blocked!

One and done. I ordered the custom fit insoles on 5/11/21 and despite my irritation with the $17 shipping fee, I really needed the insoles. Today, 5/24/21, I realize that I should have received them and I decide to track them. As it turns out, the website says I have to call for tracking information and I do. I was informed by the young lady that the carrier should have delivered them on 5/17/21 but that there was no tracking information beyond that. No problem. They get a refund from the carrier and I get new ones overnighted. I did pay $17 for shipping on insoles. That is NOT the gameplan that the customer service rep details for me.
1) She has to put out a ticket that will be evaluated and that will take 4 days.
2) Once the ticket is processed, the warehouse then takes 4 days to ship the product.
3) I wait for the carrier to bring the product.
I said I was not going to wait 2 mo0re weeks to get this and requested a refund.
Guess what that's a ticket that takes 4 days to process. Don't do this to yourself, shop at a place that understands customer service.

I purchased a CD storage tower. It consists of two components in box A and box B. I was sent two of box A. They cannot send me a box B. They want it sent back (I'm in Canada), and there will be a charge. For their mistake. Two boxes of A are useless to me. I'm asking for a replacement. Or a refund. Ordered on March 1st, and still waiting in mid-May. Horrible service. I won't be using them again. Further update 3 days later: was refunded the price of the item, however what was refunded is $94.55 Canadian less than what I paid. So, despite their mistake, I'm still being dinged for what I assume is for shipping and duties. Again, not my fault, yet I'm being charged for their mistake. I will not deal with Hammacher again.
