Jon was extremely helpful and understood my budget and what I was looking for. The demonstration of the soundbar was informative and it suits my needs.
The delivery was also very smooth and the driver was very well presented and rang me in the morning with a delivery time.

Just over a year ago, I submitted a review for HBH Woolacotts electrical/electronics superstore at Coypool, Plympton. I started off by saying that, over the years, I, and my parents before me, always tended to think of Currys - or Comet, in those days - as the go-to place for any electrical gadgets, large or small - rather like you'd tend to buy a vacuum cleaner made by 'Hoover', because the firm's name actually became the generic name for a vacuum cleaner, or a 'Biro', for a ball-point pen.

However, that was a long time back, and now my go-to store - and that which many of my friends and acquaintances use - is HBH Woolacotts at Plympton, Plymouth.

They do everything that Currys can do, but cheaper, or at least price-matched, they're friendlier and - most importantly - they will go that extra mile to ensure that the customer is completely happy with their purchase, and able to get around the basic controls before they leave your property after having delivered it!

With all the recent warm weather, I, like so many people, wanted to get hold of a proper A/C unit, especially for the bedroom, when sleeping was especially challenging as the heat had risen in the house during the day!

I ordered one, and it was recently delivered, following my return from holiday. I have got it out of its packing - it's quite a substantial 'beast', made in Sweden, and fortunately able to be de-boxed from the top down. Without doing a serious injury, I would never have considered trying to lift it up out of a conventional cardboard box.

I'm no fool, but the instructions suggested I might be out of my depth, trying to connect everything up myself, and organise the window seal for the exhaust tube.

The manager at the Plympton store, Paul, is a really great guy - as are all the staff I've encountered, or dealt with there. While they were happy to plumb in a new washing machine, or fit a new wall oven into its brick surroundings, setting up an A/C unit isn't something they would offer on a regular basis.

However, because the manager is so helpful, and willing to please - I first encountered Paul when he managed the former Panasonic shop in Plymouth city centre, and which was later incorporated into the Woolacotts store at Plympton. Even then he was especially kind to me and my late Dad!

So, and because they want their customers to be 100% happy with every purchase, from a steam-iron to a freezer, Paul will be sending someone to set my new A/C unit up tomorrow, under the auspices of a regular paid-for delivery, which is really most generous, and very much appreciated!

This is why it's often better to go to a smaller group of outlets, where this kind of outstanding service can usually be negotiated.

And the myth that Woolacotts will be more expensive than, say, Currys, just doesn't hold water, because of their price-match deals.

I can't recommend Woolacotts, and especially the local Plympton store too highly! Thank you, Paul!

I have used this company for over 20 years and I can't fault the service they provide .

The staff in the store are very knowledgeable on their products. Have bought several large white goods. If a repair is needed it is done swiftly. Would definitely recommend a visit.

Recently had the need for a Liebherr Fridge/Freezer repair and was referred to Woolacotts by the manufacturer.

What a fabulous service from Anthony Bretherick and team. It's not often you experience truly excellent customer service like this. Genuinely concerned and exceptionally helpful, thank you.

Excellent service. Oven ordered and 3 days later it was delivered and installed. Would highly recommend using this business.

After a total failure of our old freezer, a call to the store at 5.20 resulted in a new fridge freezer purchase and a delivery slot of the following morning. The whole team at Barnstaple branch went above and beyond to help us out.

Very happy with the service given by Woolacotts. Delivery men were polite and careful bringing the freezer inside. There was an issue on the size as differed from the website but this was rectified very quickly by the sales team. Would certainly use them again.

Taking the time to write this review because the whole Woolacotts shopping experience really deserves it.

The range and quality of products is amazing but the people who work there take Woolacotts to a whole new level. They are knowledgeable, engaged and helpful without being pushy. As a customer you know you can ask questions and they will have the answers and will genuinely help you get the product you need.

The most recent shopping experience was 05/09/26. We were helped by a member of staff called Clayton, who could not have been more helpful, taking time to provide great advice and insight through the whole process.

Outstanding customer service

Fab service from the St Austell branch! The gent who helped me choose my new hob was brilliant and highly informative. When the first hob I bought didn’t fit, Woolacotts quickly arranged a replacement and took away my broken one. Even when the replacement had a minor, unrelated issue (through no fault of theirs!), they sorted it super quick and I now have a lovely new hob! The customer service, delivery, and fitting teams were all fantastic, highly recommend!
