After dealing with Herring Shoes and Chris a number of times over the past year, I can honestly say they are excellent. Fast shipping, easy returns and great quality products. Really great!

Amazing service, nice website with online chat. They answer to emails promptly. I have bought a pair of tricker shoes from them and would easily buy again.

I ordered 2 pairs of shoes, unfortunately one pair was out of stock,
but customer service was helpful, delivery quick.
This time the shoes didn't fit, I returned them free post and received a full refund very quickly.

Disappointed with Herring. Bought a pair of shoes (Hampstead Brogues) which were discounted in the sale, although still cost me over £140. Good delivery service and on the face of it, a very nice pair of quality shoes. But after wearing them twice, I began to notice a very unpleasant smell after I'd had them on for a couple of hours. Really unbearable and other people commented on a strange smell in my presence. I can assure you it was NOT coming from me personally!
I sent the shoes back, and got a phone call telling me there was nothing wrong with them, and they duly returned them to me.
I put shoe trees in them, cleaned them and looked after them as instructed, but the problem persists.
I can only conclude therefore that Herring Shoes have a strange smell to them. Not a leather smell, more of a rubber / bitumen kind of smell.
Can't imagine I would purchase anything from them again, which is a shame because I like their product range and customer service.

Commande passée le 21 novembre d'une paire de Loake Chatsworth en taille 7 soit disant en stock d’après le site, une fois le paiement effectué, on commence à m'annoncer un délai supplémentaire...
Le 25 novembre je reçois un mail pour m'annoncer que le fabricant est également en rupture sur ce modèle et prévoit un délai de 6 à 8 semaines, mais que ça devrait être un peu moins...
Il me propose d'annuler la vente si je ne souhaite pas attendre.
Bref je me dis que quand l'on met plus de 250€ dans une paire de chaussure, il faut savoir être patient si l'on veut exactement le modèle et la couleur que l'on désire.
Entre temps je me rends dans une boutique spécialisée dans le genre ou il ne reste plus que des modèles qui ne se sont pas vendu et un peu plus cher que sur le site. L'avantage de pouvoir les essayer car le risque que la taille dans le modèle n'aille pas est bien réel, mais dans ces boutiques, ont vous fait la grimace si vous ne savez vous décider rapidement à passer à la caisse, devant mon hésitation, la vendeuse se plante immobile devant moi et j'ai failli acheter une pair qui ne me convenait pas complètement devant sa comédie.
Heureusement que j'ai su attendre un peu car le lendemain j'étais informé de la livraison de ma commande.
En ouvrant la boite plusieurs surprises m'attendent: La magnifique paire que j'avais commandé avec 2 housses et en cadeau : une brosse à daim plus une magnifique paire d'embauchoirs en bois !
ça valait quand même la peine d'attendre.
Avec de la chance peut être, j'avais fourni les mesures exactes de mes pieds, elles me vont parfaitement.
Payé 255 € port compris via Paypal, ma banque m'a prélevé 5€ de frais d'achat en devise étrangère pour cet achat.
Pour ma part je trouve que ces Anglais font tout leur possible pour nous faire passer ces petits surcoûts obscures de façon plus agréable.

I have been a buying shoes from Herring shoes for the last 2 years, the quality and selection is outstanding, being a size12 UK i can choose any style from any Brand, knowing when they arrive they will be a perfect size. Herring Shoes customer service outstanding!!!!! . Look after Herring shoes they will last a lifetime

Shoes are of good quality, not perfectly aligned in some areas but as it is handmade, it has character. Came with complimentary shoe horn and wax.

Something to note for Australia customers
Shipping prices (auspost) are ridiculous if you need to exchange sizes, $60-80 (almost 25% of the purchase price?). Not Herring Shoes UK problem but definitely something that made for a poor shopping experience.

Something to consider in the future, if customers are already paying for shipping to AUS (20 pounds) + return fee ($80 AUD), Herring Shoes should look at distribution partners that can offer some kind of cheaper/free return service as piece of mind to customers.

Now I know my size for a herring branded shoes - I do not think there will be another situation where I would need to move 1/2 size up/down will happen. But.. you never know.

Item was received quickly and as expected.

I had occasion to return a pair of Cheaney made wholecuts to Herring due to finding a lasting tack inside one of the shoes. Although I bought the shoes in 2015 (they were very lightly worn) Sean at Herring refunded the purchase price and arranged for a repair by Cheaney free of charge. I have purchased several pairs of shoes and also clothing from Herring I cannot fault their customer service. Highly recommended.

I live in the US and ordered a pair of Asquith monk straps from Herring. When they arrived within the week I discovered an inch long abrasion on one of the shoes. I contacted customer service and Sean immediately responded with an apology and a DHL number to send them back for a full refund including shipping. I liked the shoes and wanted a replacement pair, but they were on sale and were the last in my size, and Sean said there was no more stock for that shoe. He then offered me the same 30% discount on any shoe in their catalogue. I chose an expensive boot that I'd been coveting. Sean shipped them out immediately. Herring's service was polite, prompt, professional and very solicitous of my needs, and I've got a great new pair of shoes at a very reasonable price. I'm very impressed and will shop there again.

I've ordered second shoes from Herring and must say that their service is outstanding! The shipping is super fast. All items are packed with superior accuracy.

Over the last year I've bought several items from Herring (and returned a couple of them where I preferred a different shoe after trying it on). Their customer service is wonderful to the point that I always try to buy shoes from them instead of other retailers. One of the items was a "second" in their sale, which presumably was someone elses returned item that that had been tried on briefly before returning. I knew this when ordering but took a chance because of the significant discount. But I honestly it was perfect and I couldn't tell that this was anything but new and unused apart from the significant discount. Highly, highly, highly recommended.

This is a great company to deal with! I ordered from the website for the classic Knightsbridge Oxford. I found a Slight Second shoes which are "They may have some marks on the sole or a slight crease in the upper." Mine had sole marks when I received them but they were clean marks. I think they are sanded the soles to clean them. The uppers had slight crease marks but looked brand new. Very impressed with the quality of the shoes, the goodyear welt and overall construction. You will not find such fine quality gentlemen shoes for the price in North America. Quintessentially British and proper! I've worn Ballys all my life and own other fine Italian branded shoes and these shoes are an absolute value. The Customer service is amazing! I ordered my shoes on Saturday and received them on Wednesday in Vancouver. Included in the box was a pair of shoe bag, a shoe tree, shoe polish and a thank you card which is also a return form. Since it is their 50th anniversary, they included their special catalog. Very impressed with customer service. I highly recommend this company!

Incredible service, combined with a great product. I am a real fan of Herring shoes, and the service this business offers is second to none.
