Communication while we traveled was fantastic!
Guides were wonderful, drivers excellent, great accommodations but the communication available while we were in Sicily was superb ! Any time there was any issue (and we did have a couple) they were sorted very quickly and competently.
Marianne, who put together our 10 day Itinerary was great, not an easy feat with 11 opinions/ requests!
Our only disapointment was Mt. Etna, the hike was too challenging for our group and would have been better had we had something with minimal hiking and vehicle/gondola as were available at the base.( Just to note: one of our group walks 10 miles a day but found it difficult).

All the arrangements that Amilie suggested and we agreed to were wonderful. The places we stayed and visited, the drivers were perfect and enabled us to travel in Panama, with which we were very unfamiliar, with comfort and peace of mind. The special care she took to arrange a unique VIP tour was exactly, in fact even more than, what we were looking for. There was just one minor glitch in communication with a driver that gave us a temporary concern. But all was worked out in an hour. Thanks Amilie and Insight Guides. We recommend you without qualification.

Beware of Inside Guides' dubious links…
Beware of Inside Guides' dubious links to overseas subscription companies
Once upon a time Inside Guides was a company one could trust. Ebooks could be downloaded safely and without problems. Now they seem to have paired up with some fitness companies in Cyprus whose app one has to use [apparently] in order to download the ebook after purchasing the hard copy. Then one is locked into some fitness subscription. if this is legit, it's an appalling practice by RG, if it is due to the Cyprus company hacking the RG website, it's gross negligence by RG not to ensure its customers can use their site safely.

Excellent tailored trip to Costa Rica
We travelled a lot by different agencies. We got information about Costa Rica trip through the Insight Guides book. Our travel coordinator Jean Carlo listened to our wishes, suggested the itinerary and responded at once. He did a great job. Most important was, that every transportation was punctual, we never waited for the transfer. Local guides were excellent. Accommodations were good. We recommend Insight Guides definitively!

Well-planned trip with warm-water snorkelling experiences as requested and other enjoyable trips but time to be independent too. Mainly excellent hotels, and punctual transfers to and from ferries and airport.
Good communications on the holiday but took a while to get sorted beforehand. I would use Insight Guides again.

Bespokely tailored experience - highly recommend!
I had a pleasure to finding Insight Guides totally by accident and decided to use them during my travels in India. We have been matched with a fantastic Amit and his Yolo India Tours, who has then created a bespoke itinerary for me and my friend, and adjusted our stay to a shorter period of time (as we were there for the wedding and using the rest of the week to travel around). As we were 2 women travelling by ourselves, I can now safely say, we wouldn't be able to do it without the travel operator. Thanks to flexibility and tailoring bespoke experience, we have had a great time :) I will be recommending Insight Travels to all my friends (as well as Yolo India Tours)

Third time using Insight Guides - Exceptional (will use again)
We've used Insight Guides now three times (more to come) and I'll be rating this third time. It was an 8 day trip for 5 to Belgium and The Netherlands. Our travel coordinator Valentine was exceptional. We spent a few communications back and forth to discuss ideas and durations in each country. A tweak here and there with great suggestions for things we hadn't thought of. All communication was clear. In the end - it was flawless. In particular, the lodging in both locations was amazing - central location for either walking or hopping a bus/tram or a train as needed, for restaurants too. She arranged private tours for the 5 of us and every tour guide was knowledgeable, enthusiastic and tailored things to us as we went. Each one contacted us a few hours before our meeting time (via WhatsApp) to ensure a smooth meet-up. She pre-purchased our train tickets. All trip information came in a lovely PDF prior to the trip with imbedded links we could access as the trip progressed.
I'll add that 2 of our folks got sick midway and Valentine was able to cancel one of our tour guides and fully refunded that portion of the money. She checked in a day later to see how they were feeling. She also checked in just to make sure we didn't need anything or have any questions. SUPERB!

The trip planned by Marcela to London and Scotland was exactly what we asked for and all the arrangements were flawless. Marcela was very responsive prior to the trip and was available when we were on the trip. She even had our train tickets delivered to our hotel when we were unable to download them.

This was our first booking with Insight Guides and we will be using them again! Our coordinator Tamer was super quick to get back to us. He responded to all our queries and offered alternative suggestions. He also made arrangements for video calls. He continually stayed connected while on our trip ensuring everything was going to our satisfaction. Super customer service. Highlights of Morocco
Our tour was fabulous. Ali was our driver and also one of our tour guides. We had a wonderful time -- Morocco is amazing and we cannot recommend Ali highly enough! He always communicated with us regarding pick up times and plans. He arrived on time. The drives in between destinations were longer than expected, but the beautiful landscape and Ali's skillful driving made it enjoyable. We always felt safe. Despite it being Ramadan (meaning no coffee or food for him) he remained alert and pleasant. We had great conversations on the road and he was open to our questions and gave thoughtful answers that gave us a deeper understanding of the country and its history. For the record, the guides that toured us in each city (Lahoucine in Marrakech, Laila in Fez, Hamid in Chefchaouen) were also wonderful, professional and knowledgable.

Sri Lanka - a fabulous trip!
We've just returned from a trip to Sri Lanka. Having been before we wanted to see more of the country this time, and used Insight Guides to plan a trip, taking into account our short timescale and necessary route back the airport in five days.
The communication leading up to our trip was fabulous and the guide we were given was so knowledgeable and passionate about the country. He was also thoughtful when it came to additional trips and stops, accommodating the children and what would interest them. Having reflected, I think the cost of the five day trip was on the expensive side, when actually only one of the activities had a cost attached to it.
The accommodation was also not proportionate to the cost - although I am taking in to consideration that there will not have been lots of choice in some of the locations we visited.
Overall we were very happy and would absolutely use Insight Guides again.

I spoke to Hazan, your local travel expert in Sri Lanka, about the price as well. Due to the economic crisis in Sri Lanka at the moment, the government has introduced new taxes which have made hotel rates much more expensive than before. The hotel situation in Sri Lanka in general can be rather challenging, as both Covid and the economic crisis have taken their toll on many hotels.

Animal suffering
I bought the book about Thailand this week. I was really shocked to read that they promote to visit elephant shows!! It also contains visiting a village that's famous for a elephant festival. "The inhabitants of this region are known for their skill in training elephants."
I think it's unbelievable that the book doesn't tell about the terrible ritual the elephants have to go through to make them tame.
If people keep visiting these shows elephants will never stop suffering under these horrific conditions.
The book has to take the responsibility to stop people going there!!
I will never ever buy a book from insight guides again!

Greetings from Insight Guides.
In recent years, we have been making a concerted effort to address the problematic nature of animal shows and attractions around the world and have removed many from our books.
We do not promote visiting such attractions and only include references to them in our book to reflect the reality of what makes a destination popular, for instance, but our editorial guidelines are to advise visitors that we don’t recommend participating in animal shows or similar, and to flag concerns about welfare where these exist.
In this instance, the coverage of Surin does mention that the practices associated with the Elephant Round-up have been criticised, and the description is more to explain what the event is and why the destination has been on the tourist map/is popular, but I accept that our language here should be stronger to discourage attendance.
This book hasn’t been updated since 2019 and we don’t currently have any plans for a new edition, but I will make a note to address this issue if and when we update it. We are always striving to better reflect increased awareness of harmful practices and update our content, but sometimes we don’t get it fully right and please accept our apologies for this.

Our Indonesia trip was amazing thanks…
Our Indonesia trip was amazing thanks to our trip planner, Liz, and the rest of the team! We had a wonderful itinerary packed with all the adventures we could fit, wonderful guides and activities and perfect hotels. The trip was even more memorable than we could have imagined. We had one incident where a bag was inadvertently left at the last hotel by the staff (no fault of the travel agency) and the travel agent went out of their way to ensure it was sent immediately by a rushed courier to the airport in time for our flight and at no cost to us. I would definitely use Insight Guides for a future trip for the piece of mind and local expertise.

Iceland Trip
This is the first time we used Insight Guides and are so happy that we did! The trip went off without a hitch. We got to do almost everything on our personal itinerary. the WiFi in the car was great using the maps and Google maps along the way. Accommodations were perfect - everything was just as planned.
