I'm totally stunned by the attempt to scam me out of an unnecessary amount of around £600!
My door lock was sticking a bit and becoming hard to lock. It wasn't an emergency but I wanted to get it sorted before it became a serious issue. I said this to the woman on the phone and she told me that to have the technician come over and re align my lock it would cost £75. When he arrived he straight away tried to get me to sign something to charge £49+VAT call out charge and £148+VAT labour costs. I told him what I had been quoted and refused this new amount so he begrudgingly agreed.
He then told me that I need a new lock. He said a less secure lock is £466+VAT and a more secure lock is £895+VAT. I had to believe him and just opted for the cheaper one. He replaced it. and the door mechanism was having exactly the same issue. He then proceeded to adjust and move the locking points on the doorframe until the issue was fixed. (Bear in mind that my door lock is not particularly fancy so both prices are astronomical, I now know after doing some research).
I could tell that the issue was clearly fixed by what he did after he replaced the lock so I asked him to try it with the original lock back in. He was not happy about it but did it anyway. It was perfect. The old lock worked perfectly. He tried to suggest that it wasn't as smooth so I tried it again and that was just not true at all.
He then said fine, and that he had to adjust the labour charge then back to what he was originally trying to charge me and add the call out fee, making out that putting in an unnecessary new lock and then taking it out again needed charging for. So I called the number to speak to the office and they said the best they could do was remove the call out fee.
I am outraged by the attempt at daylight robbery and would not recommend them to anyone. That one star is there because the door now works smoothly. So at least there is that.

Initially quoted £200 for a locksmith change, upon arrival this was increased to £816. I was in an emergency so had no choice but to agree.

Work was performed exceptionally badly with locks being misaligned and non functional. Lock that is normally priced at £25 was charged at £316.

Customer service very responsive but clearly used to these kind of messages and dragging feet to provide a refund.

NO. Do not use this company. My experience was absolutely terrible, costing over £450 for a service that left my property less secure than when they started.

Unprofessional Entry: They arrived late and drilled out two Yale locks to gain access. Rather than professional locksmiths, they came across as an amateur "odd job" service.

Incomplete Work: Rather than replacing the full key-operated lock from the outside and lever-operated from the inside, they replaced the barrel of only one lock and left the old lever inside. For the second lock, they simply left a hole in my door and instructed me to go to B&Q to buy a cover for it myself.

Exorbitant Costs: The call-out charge alone was an eye-watering £89. The total cost for this disastrous visit was over £450.

Blackmail: When I raised a formal complaint about the missing lock and the hole in my door, they held me ransom. They stated they would only return to fix their incomplete work if I agreed NOT to write a bad review. If I didn't agree, they refused to come out.

There are plenty of great locksmiths out there; these are not them. Read the other 1-star reviews to get a true picture of their bad service.

AVOID. Unethical behaviour. I was overcharged hugely. Quoted £75 + VAT on the phone for the call out and told the technician would tell me the final cost depending on the lock etc. I’ve had to use locksmiths before - the last time just a week ago and that was just £130 in total. When this guy arrived he said he’d just need to drill through and it would cost £239 plus the call out charge. £329 in total. It literally took him ten minutes. I had to get access quickly so I had no choice. I suspect he saw my desperation and made a number up. Would never use them again and advice everyone else to avoid.

Elderly mother left trapped at home due to a faulty “new” lock. Charged an extortionate fee for substandard work. This company’s conduct is disgraceful — she is 89 years old. Would not recommend.

Charged over £400 to remove locks and fit a “new lock” for my elderly mother.

The work was incomplete. Only part of the lock was replaced, leaving the old internal mechanism.

She was later locked inside the property and unable to exit. The locksmith denied responsibility and was dismissive. After repeated calls, he returned and the lock now works (for now), but maintained the fault was not his.

My brother was present, calm, and not aggressive as later implied.

Based on cost, workmanship, and conduct, I would not recommend.

Raul was absolutely impeccable and really got us out of an upsetting situation on Christmas Day when we were locked out. His communication was great - he set out our options (including timing and price) clearly, and was very efficient. He made us feel looked after, heard and reassured. Would always call him again in future - he’s a testament to the company.

The lock broke on my front door when the Waitrose driver was delivering on Christmas Eve. Panic.The delivery driver was lo locked in . I called 24H who came very quickly. I was quoted £285 including call out charge.He drilled out lock and then said a new lock would be £600 !!!! The £285 was to remove lock He insisted this was what he quoted but I was given the impression the £285 included new lock.I refused.
I am 86 years old and he thought I was an easy con.
Timpsons came on Saturday morning and charged £189 for supplying and fitting new high security lock.

While we believe we receiced good advice on the service and great locks, the service was overcharged, double what the market standard would be. The price was not provided over the phone and the locksmith was pushy about doing the job. On time of payment, additional charges were added on an invoice reuqiring signature. Beware the Terms & Conditions, the fine print that doesn't look legitimate.
The locksmith seemed quite skilled both as a locksmith and hassling. A pity, because he can really build quite a good reputation on skill, but he chooses the short-term quick sale.

Now that we learned our lesson, I recommend looking for an MLA (Master Locksmiths Association) member.

Our engineers name was Raul and he dealt with the problem efficiently,
He was a nice and polite chap who gave us our options clearly.

He turned up within the hour of the call and fixed our issue with no mess.

I was locked out of my house with a puppy and without a phone and had a passerby call for an emergency locksmith. On the phone they said it would be £55, but when they showed up they charged me more than £600 for drilling out the lock and replacing it. I had a burning banana bread in the oven, so I tried to protest but I also didn’t want to risk a fire. Worst call-out experience of my life. Predatory and dehumanizing.

The locksmith, sorry I didn't get your name, arrived quickly, was very experienced and very knowledgeable.

Rual did a brilliant job! I was locked out of my house overnight and Rual arrived to save me! He showed me alternative as my locks were high security and entailed more work.. and more money for me to pay out. In the end we went in from the back of the house and Rual needed to work on only one lock... saving me money. He even offered to clean up! It's not often you get an honest and conscientious workman nowadays. Thank you Rual, you made my day. You are one in a million!
