I used Kit Keeper for the first time this year, being conscious that I normally just throw stuff away and buy again (what a waste). Their service was practically effortless and gave me peace of mind knowing that when I return to uni, I didn’t have to buy loads of stuff again. Better for the wallet and planet. Terrible experience
Terrible experience. Nothing was delivered on the day it was meant to be, resulting in the need for a hotel at our cost. Took 2 weeks to get most items back - not everything arrived. 3 out of 7 boxes were destroyed by water and 2 weeks later everything was delivered still soaking wet. Kit Keeper are applying liability caps and refusing to reimburse for all the losses. It is clear that they outsource everything and have no real control - they kept blaming their subcontractor and had no idea what had happened. Do not use this company.

I understand how frustrating and disappointing this situation must have been for you. As soon as we became aware of the issue, we took every possible step to resolve it promptly. Unfortunately, as we collected your items over 100 miles from where we needed to deliver them to, your delivery required a third-party courier (as outlined in our terms and conditions), we relied on DPD to handle your items. Despite their reputation as a leading courier, unforeseen issues (the September 2024 flash floods) arose during transit, including water damage to your boxes.
We escalated the matter with DPD immediately and followed up daily to get clarity and resolution. Regrettably, their response has been inadequate, and we are still pursuing further information. In the meantime, we worked closely with you to identify your belongings, return them to your address, and address the damaged items, going beyond the standard compensation policy to find a fair resolution.
Regarding compensation, our coverage policy ensures up to £100 per box if all packing guidelines are followed. While there were exceptions in your case due to prohibited items and packaging concerns, we ensured you received the compensation due. Additionally, we took extra measures to support you as much as we could during the challenging time. It is not common practise for any business to pay for hotels.
I understand the impact this experience has had on your trust in us. While your feedback suggests otherwise, I sincerely hope you might give Kit Keeper another chance in the future. We are committed to ensuring every customer receives the high standard of service we pride ourselves on delivering.
Once again, I deeply apologise for the inconvenience caused and appreciate your patience throughout this process. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have further concerns or questions.

Before collection: booking was really easy it took about 5 minutes, they give the option to order boxes if you don’t have any however I chose to use my own boxes at a weight limit of 25kg per box. I was reminded a couple times to put labels on the boxes before collection through email and a phone call. I can imagine It annoying some people but tbh I forget things often so it’s nice plus speaking with someone from the company on the phone (who was also really friendly) was nice. Compared to other places the prices to store the boxes seemed good and the boxes seemed affordable.
To choose a time slot in the day for the boxes to be collected is expensive so I chose not to.
During collection: I found this very stressful, it’s not kit keeper who collect the boxes (it’s an external company) so I didn’t get very much communication. I had no idea when the collection people were arriving, if there was an issue with any of the boxes when they arrived or if they have collected everything. I’m lucky because I lived in a flat with a storage area for them to pick it up from.
Overall it’s pretty okay

Perfect for a car-less uni student
I’ve used them twice now to move my things, once for storage and once just to ship. ****I did have to call and clarify that i wanted just a shipping order because the system put me down as a storage order even though i selected the shipping option**** but when i called to clarify the team was extremely helpful. also willing to make last minute changes!! they have a guy from ontario on the team who has just happened to always take my call and he remembered me!! also the service may seem expensive but it is cheaper than the vast majority of other options if you do not have your own car and the assurance of good service is absolutely worth it.

Carry all of the boxes without the help of the staff.
For my friends case, the person walked to the building with the trolly. All we need to do is just carry our boxes down stairs. However, me and my other friends need to carry our boxes to the basketball court that is quite far without the help of the staff. I asked for the trolly but my friend needs to carry all of the boxes to the car herself while the staff was just waiting. I dont think this is worth £45 of the collection fees that we paid for.

For our standard service, the team meet customers at a collection point that's entered into the system and help with loading from there. I understand this location can cause confusion when it comes to larger on-site campus accommodation. We do also offer a doorstep / full-assist collection for situations where help is needed from inside accommodation or over longer distances, and I’m sorry that wasn’t clear at the time of booking.
I think I know exactly which halls you're referring to and we've taken this on board so we can make sure the pickup location is correct going forward and communicating the extra options more clearly, so that experiences like this don’t happen again.
