We've been with Pedalcover for a number of years and the service received has always been excellent. I have previously claimed following a cycling accident and the service was second to none. We recently moved home and Joe from Pedalcover was very helpful in facilitating this for us.

Select your dates accurately
The website appeared to work. Selecting mountain biking worked and it did appear to be listed in the schedule which was a relief. It was noticeable that reducing the cover to only the days cycling rather than a more vague date did reduce the premium accordingly. (Note reply from insurers. This was not what they intended. Dates should cover all travelling as well. Could be clearer on their website.)
Thankfully I did not need to give the insurance a real test. (Judging by the stream of helicopters others were not so fortunate.)

For future reference - the dates selected need to cover the full duration of the trip and not just the days you are cycling, this is in the eligibility statements on the website (which you have to click that you have read and agree to to be able to continue) when purchasing single trip travel policies.

Constant policy wording changes
We’ve been with pedal cover for about 6 years and they have been great. Unfortunately they keep changing their underwriter which means the policy cover and wording changes. This year they changed their underwriter which made the flood wording different. I had to contact them and they came back saying there would be an eye watering £2500 months excess for flood protection on our policy. Our house has never flooded but it is 150m away from a river, but significantly higher up. I renewed with them this year but if there is the same issue again next year we will move to another insurer who doesn’t change the policy wording every year.

Hi Jamie, Pedal Cover has been running for over 10 years and in this time we have only had 2 changes of underwriters for our home & bike policies, our last change of UW & policy wording was in 2021, therefore it is unfair to say we change the policy wording every year or constantly, as this is not at all reflective of the situation. Despite the change of UW this year, the policy wording itself has changed very minimally, however, different insurers use different rating factors to determine the risks and premiums. Although your property has never flooded, there has been flooding in the immediate area within the last year, therefore, the insurers have reflected this risk in the higher flood excess. Home and Travel insurance
I’ve got home insurance (which also covers all my bikes) and travel insurance (which covers me for multi sport training and racing abroad). The policies are great and cover everything I need. No quibbles last year either when I had to unfortunately make a claim.

Pedal cover are 1st class for supporting claims
I had to make a claim for accidental damage to a much loved bike. Pedal cover were rapid in their response and offered me excellent support and options. Pedal cover staff are always really helpful and go that extra mile, making you feel valued. I’d highly recommend pedal cover for your contents and bike insurance. I also use pedal cover for travel insurance too.

Altitude with road bike
Great to get the insurance that covers cycling at high altitude.
Strange that I had to get a mountain bike add-on for the altitude, yet I'm not doing any Mountain biking.
Also I would like an option to insure my bike on the trip, perhaps as a high value baggage item.

Great cover, great price and easy to set up
I was unsure what package I needed for cross country mtb racing, a quick phone call and all was explained. The online form took 5 minutes to complete and the quote was much better with same cover as the company that British cycling recommended.
Would highly recommend pedal cover to anyone
