My experience instore was excellent - the advisor was patient and gave good advice regarding the performance of underlays and carpets, and the lead-times. On the installation day I was very disappointed by the workmanship of the fitter, Jason. Firstly, Jason’s apprentice dropped the large and heavy carpet roll (25sqm) on my neighbour’s car, scratching it. Whilst Jason fitted the carpet very quickly, there were several downsides to such haste. I found large splatters of carpet adhesive on my freshly painted walls. There was also carpet adhesive on almost all of the freshly painted skirting boards because the fitter used a wedge covered in adhesive to tamp the edges of the carpet against the skirting. I spent hours scrubbing the adhesive off the walls and skirting. Additionally, the fitter left several dents in the skirting from careless knocks with the wedge. The T-bar in the doorway was not correctly fitted since it is loose at one end because the apprentice cut-off the end with the nail holes which could have been avoided if he had either made two smaller cuts off both ends or simply drilled additional nail holes. The T-bar is also misaligned. This was rushed and sloppy work with no attention to detail and no respect for my property. I suggest that United C&B should never allow Jason to install carpet for its customers again. The carpet itself is very good and I am pleased with its level of quality.

I had a good idea of what colour and pile i wanted for my carpet.
Was taken to perfect options straight away. The gentelman sorted everything out for me and took all my stress away with measurements underlay, fitting and pricing.
He did the same with the laminate flooring I wanted.
Extremely knowledgeble advice. All the worry about thinking this is something you dont do much in a lifetime was so easy with professional help. He asked questions about buget to door bars and space underdoors. Things I had not considered.
Im so happy with both my new floorings thanks to Elton at United. Cant thank him enough. If I had ordered online somewhere I hate to think what my floors would look like now haha

I have used united carpets for a few years now and have always received good service that’s why I go back there and are going back Monday for more carpets

Shame we had to pay the fitters in cash when the van they turned up in had free fitting painted on it. Sort out your advertising maybe?

Carpet was not cut to the right size. The carpet was 200mm short. But the fitter had joined it from the waste on the width. Otherwise I would have asked for a replacement.

What an incredible experience from start to finish. Thanks to Pam in store, the gent who came to measure up, and the fitters (sadly didn't get any of their names) for a smooth service. From recommendations right down to the underlay for the carpets, to the kitchen vinyl I couldn't fault them.
I needed to delay the fitting for a few weeks from the day of ordering as there was painting and decorating to be done first, not a problem.
One of the doors had an issue closing afterwards and within a day of calling to ask about it, the fitter was back and solved the problem in 5 minutes.
They were thorough, clean and tidy, polite, respectful and a pleasure to have in my home.
So my living room, kitchen, hall stairs and landing are done ready for Christmas. Next year will be bedrooms and I am already planning my return to the showroom.

Punctual. Quick no fuss.

The customer service from Pam was simply excellent - personable, knowledgeable and clear about the carpets and underlay we bought. Pam helped guide me through a first time experience in buying carpet for my apartment with care and attention to selecting the right choice. Everything was booked within time with the fitter Gary who also did a fantastic job of fitting. Highly recommend this great local company.

Absolutely awful service and staff. Both racist and ableist.

On purchasing carpet they failed to advise that there were additional delivery and fitter referral charges. These were included in the price and not detailed on the invoice. Apparently it’s all ok because there were signs up to this effect and I was happy with the overall price. I am sight impaired and use a white stick, which I had with me when

I should have cancelled the order at this point but liked the carpet so proceeded.

The fitters arrived this morning in the rain, put off cuts on the drive and left the carpet outside in the rain. Didn’t use shoe protectors inside which resulted in wet boots on the underlay which was very wet in places. On complaining about this I was told it wasn’t raining and the carpet isn’t get wet, that they can’t hover so things will get wet, the fitter went off on a rant he wants to get in, do the job and get out, they’re not here for customers. I told him I wouldn’t be spoken to like that in my own home. He told me i had a choice they could lay the carpet or go. I told them to go. On dumping the damp carpet in my hallway he called me a f-ing lunatic and as he walked off slamming the door said p•kis f-ing hate them. I challenged him and asked who do you hate and he changed it to customers.

The underlay is torn where it’s been laid and still very wet in places.

Bags of rubbish have been left strewn through the house.

My partner spoke to the shop and was told there are 2 sides to every story and that I was obstructive.

Apparently United Carpets doesn’t employ the fitters, they’re self employed. This one turned up in a United Carpets van so, he’s definitely representing the company.

This is absolutely appalling service and I cannot believe that in this day and age people like this are still being employed in customer facing roles. Absolutely disgusted.

If you consider yourself any ally or share lived experience, please don’t subject yourself to this company
