Our second trip with Untravelled Paths did not disappoint, made even more special by our charming and knowledgeable guide Ilija. Spectacular scenery, lakes, rivers & wildlife combined with a local, authentic feel. Be prepared to adapt to road closures & other unexpected events along the way, and soak up the ambience of a wonderful country.

I'm a bit behind with our reviews for UTP. We have been several times, last year December we did the Christmas Markets around Romania. Absolutely fantastic, Marius was our guide and also Cristina. Both so knowledgeable and fun to be with. The hotels were in great locations for visiting the Markets. Each had something different to offer. As usual UTP didn't disappoint.
Highly recommend.

Such a great trip, and brilliantly advised, organised and escorted by Marius. Highlights included Viscri and ebiking through the local wildflower meadows; Amphitheatre Hotel and hiking in the surrounding hills; Breb and cheesemaking/dinner with some shepherds; Sibiu and the Muzeul Astra. Marius is great company, very knowledgeable and always quietly ensuring everything goes to plan. He really cares that everyone is enjoying themselves.

We enjoyed a 'tailor made' holiday in Romania mainly centred on the UTP Brown Bear Experience. Marius M did a first class job, always on hand to guide and help. Virtually everything went well. One or two minor disappointments but nothing serious enough to lower the rating.

Excellent holiday. We had no idea Romania was so beautiful. Wonderful roads (not one pothole), no litter, all buildings are well maintained. Puts the UK to shame.
Untravelled Paths did such a good job looking after us. We were collected at the airport and taken to our hotel. Thereafter we were collected each day by Edi to start another adventure. His knowledge of the local and political history of Romania was outstanding. I can't imagine having a better, more informed guide and he looked after us so well. We were in Transylvania, initially to see Bran (Dracula) Castle which was incredible. But there is so much more to see in this stunning region. Loved it so much we're thinking of going back!

We had a really good time on the Albanian Alps experience with Untravelled Paths - everything was organised well, from picking us up in Podgorica to dropping us back at the airport. The two days of hiking were quite challenging because the weather was so hot (which can't be helped!), but were still really enjoyable. James made sure all the complicated arrangements worked smoothly and was warm and friendly throughout the few days. The scenery was amazing, and it was interesting to visit somewhere a bit different and that still feels relatively undiscovered!

This was an excellent holiday right from day of booking until the end. There were 3 of us in our party and we had the brilliant Fabrizio as our guide for the entire time. He was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic and we had some very interesting trips and experiences. The accommodation was also very good.

Couldn't have had a better holiday. Great tour guides, amazing experiences - we left with the feeling that we understood so much more about Slovenia than would have done, had we not toured with UTP.

Our amazing holiday in Morroco was the result of excellent planning which included top class accommodation with fantastic hosts who were incredibly helpful and kind, a great road trip through this amazing country which included the mountains, valleys, gorges, oases and desert, but best of all, an outstanding guide in Abdul who really looked after us and shared insight into the fabous way of life, culture, landscape and religion of Morroco.

My wife and I booked on this trip for an anniversary holiday because the trip was described as very varied; lots of history, culture, beautiful scenery, and exciting experiences all put together in one package. We booked for the first dates of the season (as they fitted with our Easter holiday dates), which meant we went very early in the season. The communication we had received from James before booking was it was unlikely that we would be able to go rafting because the river would be running too fast. We booked anyway because there were lots of other exciting experiences described.

On the trip our Montenegran guide, Ilija, was phenomenal. His knowledge of the country and history was very good, his English was better than most English people, he has a great sense of humour, and was very accommodating of our requests. I cannot speak highly enough of this chap. He even managed to get us onto a rafting session on a different river to one that UTP usually use. So we got to do everything we were hoping for and more.

The country itself is filled with unspeakable beauty. Every corner you turn driving up the mountain paths reveals awesome scenes which often take your breath away. The history of the country is also fascinating, which Ilija describes in great detail as you go from place to place.

My wife and I are already considering going on the full tour (with our kids this time) in the future, and we will certainly be considering using untravelled paths again in the future for other trips that they offer.

We travelled at the beginning of the season and had been made aware some of the ‘extras’ we wanted to do were unavailable and some itinerary items were amended to reflect what we couldn’t do.
Our Guide, Ilija, was absolutely outstanding. We faced a few issues (roads closed, car breaking down, places closed etc) but for each obstacle in our way, Ilija found a solution or alternative route. He was so knowledgeable about the county and the history (as you would expect) his English was fantastic, so friendly and a good laugh.
We had to do a fair amount of back-tracking to go around road closures etc (completely out of our control) but each decision was run by us to make sure we were happy with the additional travel (which we were to be able to see everything).
So many fantastic views around the country from the mountains and different locations with different activities as options as well (rafting, zip-lines, hikes, walks etc).
Already been discussing going back for longer as the only down-side of this trip was the length of time we were there!

Would thoroughly recommend this trip and we will be looking to use Untravelled Paths again.

Drac was the perfect host, and kept us entertained for the duration with his local knowledge and spooky stories. The whole experience was fantastic, i couldn't fault a single thing.

Bucharest old town has a great vibe, especially at night and you will find something for everyone.
Brasov was beautiful, the hotel and cellar restaurant was fantastic.

The group of I think 12 people were very like-minded, which was great, and were all up for a after party in the ice hotel as Drac D.J'd and we all danced the night away.

I would defiantly travel with UTP again.

We recently took the Transylvania and ice hotel tour which was excellent from the start from being picked up at the airport to being dropped off at the airport . We stayed in the old part of towns of Bucharest and Brasov both of which were beautiful and quaint . Marcus our tour guide was a mind of interesting local knowledge and made it very light hearted with his good sense of humor, nothing was too much trouble for him . Our stay at the ice hotel was a fantastic experience which we shared with the rest of small tour group of another six lovely people . I highly recommend Untravelled paths and Marcus as a tour guide.

The ice hotel experience was absolutely amazing. From the airport transfer end to end and everything in the middle I have to say that Marius was exceptional. His knowledge and care was superb. I was welcomed and was informed every step of the way. If anyone had questions they were answered. I loved all the hotels we stayed in especially the ice hotel. I highly recommend this trip. I went on a recent Ice Hotel Trip. I love UTP for the great accommodation and friendly welcomes you receive along the trip at all the venues.
The ice hotel was once in a lifetime trip, made even better with great small group and fantastic lead Marius.
I booked a night extra which I would recommend just to settle in after the long journey.
The castles, hotels, tourist information and beautiful sites along the way were brilliant.
I've been on 2 trips with UTP, just need to decide which trip I am doing next with them.

I booked a week in România with Untravelled Paths to explore a country I’d never visited before with a guide. We saw castles, citadels, mountain lakes and beautiful towns. We went to The Bear Sanctuary which was incredible to see and hear about the work they are doing. We went Husky sledding. It was fun and the dogs were excitable and amazing. We also went to the Ice Hotel which was an experience and a half. Mario was the host and he made us smile. Standing outside in -10 degree temperatures while he played music to us. A once in a lifetime experience. The tunnel trek was great. We had amazing weather and came out of the dark 800 meter tunnel into the most spectacular scenery. It was breath taking. The food was excellent and portions were big. I found the people in România really friendly (or at least helpful if they weren’t overly friendly). I loved the architecture and the history. Our guide George was really informative and we loved hearing about what it was like growing up before they became a democracy. George was also the driver which I can honestly say that he did really well around mountain paths, traffic and narrow lanes. We were told to take cash to România but this is only really needed for tipping and the odd meal. You can pay digitally or with your card pretty much everywhere. The choice of hotels that Untravelled Paths chose for us was also excellent. It was a little noisy in Bucharest at night but this did not deter from the holiday. My favourite hotel was in Sibiu. It over looked the square and because it was pedestrianised, it was lovely and quiet. No car noise. The hotel in Brasov was lovely but unfortunately our huge upgraded room did not have a shower, only a bath. Again, this did not deter from our holiday but it might be worth checking. We came away feeling like we had done so much in just a week. I would 100 percent recommend Untravelled Paths. România in the winter is relatively quiet and beautiful. I’m so glad we went.

A comprehensive tour with a wide variety of different experiences. Romania has beautiful countryside, dramatic mountains and picturesque cities. The food is plentiful, meaty and tasty. Untravelled Paths offered a great tour. We were well looked after by a knowledgeable, capable and fun guide. Marius brought this fascinating country to life and took great care of us.

I traveled solo for 15 glorious days in Morocco. I designed the tour on my own, but the UTP people turned my list of destinations and attractions into a seamless, stimulating, relaxing and fun adventure. The accommodations were in ideal locations, authentic, and welcoming. I enjoyed a traditional and delicious Moroccan breakfast each morning. My driver Abdul was attentive, responsible, trustworthy- he ensured that I was safe and arrived where I needed to be each and every day. But what I appreciated most about Abdul was his willingness to share with me his world- in particular the love for his country, faith, traditions and family. I miss him and I have been home now for weeks! Most of the local guides hired were knowledgeable, personable, upbeat and eager to enlighten me with information, sights, and experiences. There were a few times when I thought, "gosh why wasn't I told this ahead of time?", but those moments were rare. In Morocco, not everything is precisely predictable :). I had never heard of UTP when booking this trip. But this agency is now on my radar and I will contact them again when planning my next journey.

I must admit I was a little concerned when we booked this trip as I had never heard of the company before but so glad we went ahead! Christina, who was our tour guide, was so friendly and knowledgeable. Being the only two on the trip she adapted some days to suit us which gave us extra experiences.
Only downside which nearly cost a star hear was there was a marathon running in front of our hotel on our day of departure and no-one had thought to rearrange pick up place for the taxi (it could of been taxi companies fault, i dont know) but was a shame to have a very stressful end to a wonderful trip that went so smoothly.
Certainly a place to visit! And wouldn't hesitate to recommend untravelled paths for the adventure.
