Avoid at all costs
Cold call to my elderly mum regarding solar panels my dad had just died suddenly so explained to them we would need a bit of eventually as they sounded so convincing we proceeded with the claim and paid them £736 I had to keep chasing them speaking first with Jackie then eventually Rebecca the bank rang us and informed no claim as too long ago and not paid by visa after many calls attempting to get hold of AFK Rebecca rang and sent an email telling us to expect a call in the next few weeks ! Still no call now can't get hold of them and not replying to emails I think we might have lost our £736 can't believe they conned my elderly mum who had just lost her husband

In 2023 I used AFK to get over £5000.00 from the ombudsman regarding my solar panels. It took a while as the bank was slow giving the details over. But yes they are legit. I was sceptical about the upfront payment but they didn't ask for anymore money and I got paid the full amount and they gave me the form to claim back the VAT.
AFK Letters - its a scam
AFK Letters – based on my experience I would not recommend anyone use them to recover a miss selling claim for a Solar Panel system.
I first had contact with AFK Letters from a cold calling about recovering the cost of my solar panels system about 2 years ago and nothing happened after I paid about £1200.00. My bank said sorry its out of time.
In January this year I had another cold call from AFK Letters stating that they had run a group claim with many clients but had kept it secret not telling any of their clients. The good news according to their associate was that they had been successful and I would a receive a payout of £14399 by the end of March 24 it sounded so plausible.
The associate indicated that there was a need for a payment of £1439.90 for the tax etc. Being retired and out of the loop this type of claim I did not think too much about it. As the associate advised that I could get the money back when I received the payout. The associate was very plausible.
I started to think that this was not right and researched AFK Letters on line and was surprised at the number of comments on different websites. I discovered that the if a Group Ligation Order (GLO) had been put in place for all the cases then everyone concerned should have known about it. But during my next telephone call with the AFK Associate he stated that he knew nothing about the GLO and became evasive. He stated that he did not have the time to search for the GLO information as he was so busy talking to other clients about their claims. This convinced me that this was a scam.
When I tried to telephone them it was always please leave a message and we’ll get back to you and no written correspondence apart from the initial email about the possibility of a claim from Rebecca Hall. There was no reply to any of emails that I sent to Rebecca Hall just a follow up telephone call from an associate.
When I checked my credit card account I discovered that AFK had made a charge against it which was waiting for clearing to take place. Because they had my original credit card details on file it was easy for them to make a fresh charge, but my original credit card on record had been destroyed and replaced in December 23. but because they had my previous credit card details on file they could action it and the credit card company would accept the payment request.
AFK has finally agreed to refund the tax charge which they did do.
DO NOT USE AFK LETTERS!
This company got in touch with me July 2022 about solar panels, told them I've had many a call about being mis sold solar panels and because I didn't have a Barclays loan I couldn't get a refund. They told law had changed and that now they were going for all loan companies that provided a loan for solar panels through their solar panel company/fitters. Asked if they were a PPI scheme, was told no they only charge 10% of refund of cost but I would have to pay that upfront, if they didn't get you a refund you would get what you paid upfront back. Explained to me they have get in touch with loan company by writing them a letter, over 3 weeks they were in constant contact with me, I sent them all relevant documents to do with purchase of solar panels. They worked out that I would need to pay £806.00 upfront to them, told them I didn't have that kind of money, they spoke to their manager Rebecca Hall and came back to me asking if I could pay half £403.00 and then pay other half when I receive my refund, so me stupidly paid £403.00 with credit card. Keeping me updated with emails and phone calls, William & Jackie to name 2 of the people I spoke to. They sent me letter to look over and correct if any errors, 2 errors found so they corrected it sent me letter again to check, I ok this letter then they sent it to Loan company. If I didn't hear anything back in 2 weeks to let them know. After 2 weeks got back in touch via phone call & emails to let them no I had no response, they then said they would get in touch with ombudsman. I had a email from ombudsman 29th August 2022 thanking me for my complaint and that they would respond in 7 days, told AFK LETTERS BY EMAIL that ombudsman had been in contact with me they thanked me by email for information and that if I hear anymore to let them know. As time fly's by I sent them a email September 2023 asking for update, no response so I phoned them on 3rd October 2023 spoke to Rebecca Hall who wanted a witness statement from me ( I had already given them all the information I had), Jackie then called me to take witnesses statement so that they could contact ombudsman, was told they would send email of letter sent to ombudsman, never received this email. After doing some research I came across trust pilot reviews and thought omg I've been scammed. Phoned them again on 3rd January 2024 Rebecca Hall not in until Thursday 4th, left my id case number and telephone number. For Rebecca to call me back . In total I have phoned them 5 times only to speak with receptionist and fobbed off that Rebecca Hall was with client or was very busy catching up after new year. Decided to contact ombudsman myself they have no information of my claim, they are now looking into this for me, I have sent them all information about loan company and how I was missled by solar panel rep. Keeping in contact by email. Hopefully I will get this sorted. I phoned again to AFK LETTERS 7th February 2024 and yes you guessed it a bloody voice mail was left by me. SO ANYONE THAT GETS CONTACTED BY AFK LETTERS BE AWARE THEY WILL ROB YOU!

Had this response from Action fraud on 28/03/2024 -
On this occasion, based on the information currently available, it has not been possible to identify a line of enquiry which a law enforcement organisation in the United Kingdom could pursue.
Please everyone contact Action Fraud and report these awful people/ company!

Had a call from my bank section 75, gave them full account of what had taken place from the beginning. Whilst on the phone to AFKLETTERS they sent a welcome email which I didn't have time to fully read plus payment email and talked me through how to make payment, lots of calls & emails throughout the first 2 weeks. Basically this was a verbal contract so bank has honoured my £403 payment which I have received. Bank also said that they are a scam company and lots more people making them aware.
Please all report this awful AFKLETTERS to Action Fraud and Banks hopefully they will be caught.
I am concerned reading other reviews as…
I am concerned reading other reviews as I too had a most lovely lady call me called Jackie last July and her pitch was so good , I paid £831 , after months of waiting and speaking with her on and off , I received a phone call last week from William Mason who advised that my claim has been approved, bamboozled me totally and like a fool I paid £1386 , this seemingly gets adjusted with the full amount I am to receive by end March 24 and he said I will receive an email from the ombudsman quite soon and to forward to him once I receive it ! Today I wanted to go over what he had told me but none of the phone numbers are answered, just leave a voicemail!
They are super plausible , especially with the contact I have had until now !
Are they legit !! I just don’t know ! Anyone else had this issue ?

Total ripoff of my elderly mother in law. I have spoken with these people on many occasions and they never mention up front payments and then they email my mother in law for nearly £3.000.
Incredibly good at their scamming tactics.
Jail time would not be good enough a deterrent for these criminals as they prey on the elderly and those most vulnerable. Shame on all of them.

Just an update on my last review after lots of phone calls finally got a response from Rebecca who said she would put my refund to accounts that was 2 weeks ago still waiting so I am now going to go to the small claims court let's see what happens now
Absolute scammers targeting the Elderly
Absolute scammers that target the elderly. Targeted my mother for 2.5k for writing a lettee to her bank. Saying they needed the fee before her solar pannel reimbursement came back in. Ridiculous.
AFK Letters scammers
I was contacted by AFK letters to claim for solar panels after 14 months letter from bank saying I get nothing as can only claim within 120 days, my clain was 7+ yrsnow they don't answer email, have ask for my fee to be refunded but still waiting after 3mths, a bunch of Scammers, keep clear of them

Helpful friendly
I have had dealings with this company and found them to be friendly and informative. The letter they typed for me was a bespoke letter, with my experiences, with a defunct solar company and spray foam company. It did take a while but I did get a favourable result and happy to be kept informed by the professional administration team.
The company should not be taking
The company should not be taking, they only provide a templated later of complaint in the hope that you receive a refund for whatever service you're complaining about. They have changed their name a few times over the YEAR or so they've been in business, they registered their business in 2021. They require an upfront fee for the "service" usually around £500 plus VAT.
Their website states they have 17 years but only opened in 2021? Doesn't add up, nor does the "service" they provide. It's basically a call centre or calling teams calling cold to provide John pressure sales of a letter writing service. They do not provide legal advice, tax advise, miss selling advice only a complaints letter, a very expensive complaints letter.
My advice is never accept a cold call from anyone selling you a service. If you think you are owed money get real advice from a professional. One of the best is go to money saving expert run by Martin Lewis and his team, search this company out and you'll see you should not use them.
