We take all concerns very seriously and carried out an internal review following your comments.

Our records confirm that your property is set up on two heating zones and as agreed, we retained the existing programmer and controls rather than replacing them. We have not removed or interfered with the programmer since installation, as it was outside the scope of our works.

From your description and the engineer’s findings, the wiring issue appears to relate to older cabling from a previous installation. The fabric or paper-style insulation suggests it may pre-date 1970, indicating that while the property has been rewired in places, the heating system wiring itself may not have been upgraded at the same time.

We fully understand your concern at this discovery, but as this wiring was per-existing and not altered by our engineers, it does not stem from our installation and is therefore not something we are responsible for.

Thank you for your further response. We have looked again into this matter and reviewed the records we hold.

The only information available to us are the before and after photographs of the boiler and programmer, which both appear to be working with no visible signs of damage. We have also spoken directly with the engineer who carried out the installation and he has confirmed that the programmer was not damaged or replaced during the works.

From a technical perspective, we do not understand how paper or string could be left inside a new programmer, as the issue you describe is characteristic of much older wiring.

To allow us to review this fully and fairly, we kindly ask if you could provide us with:

Any photographs you have of the alleged damage inside the programmer.
A copy of the written report from your local engineer who inspected it.

Once we have this information, we will be able to assess the situation further and provide a more detailed response.
