Mum passed away - they cancelled buildings insurance with a few hours notice - Disgusting
My Mum passed away and I am next of kin and was dealing with funeral arrangements etc. I phoned them as the buildings insurance had been with them for many years. I explained that she had passed away and I wanted to ensure the insurance was ok. They immediately said that the underwriters they were using would not insure an unoccupied property and it would be cancelled from midnight that day. I then had to spend valuable time finding a suitable insurer in the middle of everything else.
Co op used to be ethical until they sold this business to an American Company in 2020. Do not be fooled into thinking this is the old Co-op, they are just using the name as part of the deal. Disgusting service, only interested in profits!!
Contents insurance was with Saga and they just continued it as they appreciated the situation.

Thanks for taking the time to leave us your review. We're sorry to hear your mother has passed away. I can see we tried to update the occupancy to unoccupied which was a decline with the underwriter and a new quote was offered to you. Unfortunately not every underwriter covers unoccupied properties, we will call you to discuss your concerns further.

Lots of expensive admin fees
Lots of expensive admin fees! I tried to add a temporary named driver but the fees made it unfeesable. I switched vehicles and they bumped up the Premium way more then they competitors. Thats not problem, however when I wanted to switch insurers there fees were about £80 so i would lose money by switching .I then forgot to cancel the auto renewal so they charged me and extra £35 even though I am well within the cooling off period. I cant comment on the cover as never had to make a claim but I imagine there is a victim fee of £100

It was so quick & easy to do & more to the point it came in lower than most for costs. I welcomed the discount as I am a coop card holder. In this economic climate it was refreshing to get that too. Thanks
