I appreciate there was an issue with your Digital ID due to your name being double barrelled. When you called, I explained I would need to contact the backend of the website to confirm the issue. As this query was raised just before the bank holiday weekend, unfortunately, it did take a bit longer to get back to you as the office was closed for a longer period of time than usual. However, after receiving a response from the backend of the system on Tuesday, I was in contact with your immediately and we was able to resolve this issue. Your DBS is now in process with the Police who are currently conducting your background checks.

We’re sorry to hear that you felt the process required a lot of documentation. Enhanced DBS checks do require specific identity verification in line with government regulations, and your employer requested three forms of ID, which is the standard requirement to provide compliance and protect all parties involved.
After reviewing your application, we can confirm that once your employer verified your identity, your DBS was submitted the same day and completed the following day, so there were no delays on our side.
We understand that the documentation process can sometimes feel extensive, but these checks are in place to meet strict legal requirements.

Thank you for your review. I have looked into your application and can see your DBS was sent off on 05/02/2026 and completed 11/02/2026 (please bare in mind there was a weekend inbetween) meaning your application completed in 4 working days. Your DBS has been sent out in the post to your current address and you should be receiving this. If you have not received this within 2 weeks of the issue date (by 25/02/2026) then you can call DBS directly on 03000 200 190 and request a reprint of this.

Nightmare
The online forms were so impossible and buggy and complicated so to complete it took us multiple attempts, we had all sorts of problems. For some reason I had to validate my business partner's ID which was a nightmare of a process and basically incomprehensible. His DBS ended up having an incorrect detail on it which was a result of an error in the address generating drop-down box. We signed up because we were sold a rapid turn around time - my DBS still hasn't arrived after several weeks. The only upside was that Maisie was rapid and helpful in her responses to our many, many emails.

Thank you for your review. We appreciate this feedback. We’re sorry to hear you experienced difficulties completing the form, as the vast majority of applications are submitted without technical issues.
In this case, the additional ID verification was required because the digital ID check did not pass due to information entered during the application not matching official documentation. When this happens, we are legally required to carry out manual ID verification to ensure compliance with DBS identity regulations.
Regarding the address detail, applicants enter their postcode and are then presented with a dropdown list of registered addresses linked to that postcode. The address must be actively selected and confirmed before submission. While we’re unsure why the selected address differed from the expected details, the system does not auto-assign an address, it relies on the applicant’s selection. Unfortunately, if an incorrect address is chosen, this can impact DBS processing and may require additional checks.
In terms of turnaround times, we always aim to provide a rapid service. However, once an application is submitted, the certificate itself is issued by the Disclosure and Barring Service, and processing times can occasionally be extended due to external verification requirements.

The dbs process was easy to fill out
The dbs process was easy to fill out. However, got stuck on a query and I couldn’t contact them until 78 days had gone over. I put in my application on 30th October and still haven’t received my certficate. This has meant I have been out of work for a while.

We’re pleased to hear that you found the DBS application itself easy to complete. Once an application is submitted, it is processed by the Disclosure and Barring Service and the relevant local police force. Unfortunately, at that stage the timescales are outside of our direct control.
The DBS has a service level agreement of up to 60 days for police checks to be completed. As a registered body, we’re only able to escalate an application with the DBS once that timeframe has passed, and we did so as soon as we were eligible.
We completely understand how frustrating delays can be, especially when they affect your ability to work, and we’re sorry for the impact this has had on you. Your feedback is appreciated and will be taken on board as we continue to review how we support applicants during longer checks.
