Amazing service, friendly and knowledgeable staff
Alec greeted us warmly and answered all our questions regarding which car would suit our needs best. He was very knowledgeable about each car and the specifications. It was so each to order the car. Alex was so friendly and helpful. We would definitely recommend BYD Uckfield and Alex and the team. Amazing service.

Left high and dry
An 86 year old friend bought a 2020 Suzuki Ignis (10000 miles) from EMC in February last year. It came with 12 month warranty and breakdown cover. The car did break down in January. My friend called the given number but couldn’t get through. He called EMC three times; they told him to keep trying. At no time did they check if his problem was solved. Of course nothing happened so he had no alternative but to call a local garage. The car was recovered and a badly worn clutch replaced for £800. He had driven the car for just 1000 miles. I contacted EMC and there was no apology for not supporting him properly when he couldn’t contact Suzuki breakdown and no surprise that they’d sold a car with a clutch which lasted such a limited time.
Their strap line is ‘assuring you of our best intentions at all times’ which seems ironic to me. If EMC is prepared to sell cars to older customers then they really should take better care of them.

We are surprised and disappointed to read your one star review posted on behalf of our customer, given that we have been in communication with you and fully explained the assistance we provided to your friend on the day of his unfortunate vehicle breakdown.
The Ignis was supplied with Suzuki warranty which included complimentary roadside assistance and recovery. Our customer experienced difficulties in getting through to the Suzuki helpline so our call centre assisted him. He declined the Suzuki assistance when it was realised that the clutch may require replacement, believing it may not be covered under warranty and made the decision to arrange his own local recovery and repairs.
Without having been given the opportunity to see the vehicle and investigate the clutch issue, we are unable to ascertain whether the repairs would have been covered under his Suzuki warranty policy.
The recorded telephone conversations confirm that our call centre assisted our customer effectively and were helpful and polite. We highly value ALL our customers.

Rip-off merchants
My Vauxhall hybrid car, under manufacturer's warranty, developed an intermittent fault. When I took it to EMC Uckfield, they could not find anything wrong with it and charged me £140 for diagnostics. Two days later, the warning lights returned and have been on for a week, and another two days later, the electric motor stopped working.
I have now got to take it to another Vauxhall dealer (who only charges £85 for diagnostics).
Plus staff were rude.

We are genuinely sorry to hear that you were not satisfied with our service when you visited us and that despite our best efforts, we were unable to identify any legitimate faults with your vehicle, when your vehicle was with us there were no warning lights illuminated on the vehicle and no running issues, there were trouble codes stored in the vehicle relating to the brake & throttle pedals being pressed at the same time. Get a proper inspection done before purchase.
Having purchased cars before from this dealership in the past I was confident that I should again. In May I purchased my 2019 Suzuki swift with approx 30000 one owner from new. Lovely looking car. Was informed that any clutch issues had been resolved when I initially inquired. After a while I noticed that at higher revs and speed on open road that the engine was over running / clutch slipping. I hadn't noticed before as just been driving local roads. Eventually when it was pointed out to me that there may be a issue with clutch I contacted EMC around Nov. Booked in for inspection, at a fee. Was informed, Worse case cenario approx £1400 for a new clutch as may not be covered under warranty as wear and tear and surprisingly told previous owners driving habbits may be a contribution .At this point I'd only done 4000 miles. I therefore decided to get a very well established and respected independent assessment, and repair quote. £600 for new clutch. However on further inspection turns the gear box had leaking oil into clutch housing for some time. hence the issues that I had been experiencing.Total cost including labour for new clutch AND gearbox repair £1005. Lessons learnt. In future however reputable a company may be,I won't trust anything I'm told about a car and have it independently checked before driving it of the forecourt.

Thank you for confirming your name and vehicle details, enabling us to access our records here and investigate your concerns.
We understand that your vehicle was booked in with our team for investigations on 4/12/25 but you subsequently cancelled the appointment.
Without having been given the opportunity to inspect your vehicle, we were only able to offer quotations as requested for replacement components over the telephone.
Clutches are considered to be wear and tear items, their replacement is therefore generally not covered under warranty if the clutch is found to be worn out. However, if the clutch is found to be failing due to external influences such as a gearbox oil leak, the cost of both repairs would potentially be covered by the warranty policy. In order for us to have raised a claim, we would need to have submitted our report with images of the oil leak and affected components requesting a decision from Suzuki warranty. Regrettably we were not given this opportunity.
This issue would not have been identified through visual inspection of the clutch or sealed gearbox unit unless the oil leak was significant enough to be seeping through the housing; which it was not at our time of inspection in April 2025.
We are genuinely sorry that you did not give us the opportunity to investigate your vehicles clutch issue or feel able to discuss your concerns with us directly rather than via a review platform.
We hope to be of service to you again in the future and would like to assure you of our best intentions at all times.

Purchase of car from EMC
I recently purchased a second hand Astra from EMC under the Spoticar system and was hugely impressed with the professionalism shown by the sales executive who helped me.
I had travelled down from the Midlands and was a little short on time but he still managed to expedite the sale. So I was able to see, and test drive the car that day and was able to drive it away the following day after an MOT and a Valet!
Everything was explained properly and the paperwork completed appropriately in that time.
This was quality service, for which I am most grateful

A very pleasant experience, highly recommend!
As many know, it is not always easy sourcing a good car and can be a stressful experience, EMC made it an enjoyable and smooth process, guiding me all the way. Thank you so much James and Chris for all your help again 😊 I brought my car from this garage in April and couldn’t be happier with it and the fantastic aftercare, nothing is too much, I only popped it to see if I could order another switch cover that I had knocked off and lost and Chris ordered me one free of charge, I was reversed into whilst car was parked overnight, was asking if I could pay them to fix it there and again James did it completely free of charge and did an amazing job 🤩 thank you both again so much, I would honestly recommend EMC as I and many others I know have had nothing but great experiences here and got lovely cars x
