Went into evo cycles Lower Hutt. Bought a bottom bracket and didn’t have the right size drive for the new style. Asked the guy if he could fit it (paid) rather than waiting to buy a tool, the bike frame was in the car and a 5 min job. Was all good and in progress until the manager got involved. Stopped the work, told me I had to book an appointment with workshop and can only be done during the week. So left and went to cycle science around the corner where they did it in 5 mins and saved me a future journey. Pretty rubbish experience from the manager, the young man was a nice chap. Led by donkeys?

Over Matariki weekend I had a fabulous experience with Thomas in the Rotorua branch when trying to purchase some MTB knee pads. He was patient and courteous as I tried the various brands on and in the end organised to have a smaller pair shipped to the Penrose branch.

Jayden from Penrose branch was very patient with me (& highly knowledgeable). Unfortunately the knee pads that were shipped for me didn’t fit right. He showed me another brand of knee pads in stock, answered my many questions all things knee pads (& MTB helmets) and encouraged me to test them out while riding a bike in the carpark to see if they were comfortable and fit right. Superb idea - it allowed me to test drive them before buying them! Thanks so much also for keeping your store open after closing time to help me nail this decision - appreciate it!

Highly recommend EVO to get all the specialist advice you need re all things bikes - every single time their customer service and knowledge has been amazing.

Took a 4 yo Trek Allant +8 ebike in with a single broken spoke (bungy caught during low speed manoeuvre, all other spokes tight). Upon collection was told the rim was cracked around a (different) spoke and they would recommend replacing the rim as it could fail catastrophically. When I got home I noticed the tube valve had been left undone, and the retention ring and cap were missing - not a good look. Upon inspection of the cracking I decided I couldn’t risk riding (at up to 50 kmh) with the cracked rim, and complained. They replaced the rim. No original rims were available (within NZ, and potentially anywhere, a problem I have previously had with parts for another ebike from Evo). Unfortunately the replacement turned out to be a non-matching, narrower mtb rim which I subsequently realized has only 24 spokes (instead of 32), & is not ebike rated. It also required changes to the axle, rotor etc. Total cost was close to $200.
The repairer claimed the original rim was already cracked, & that they are duds anyway that fail by about age 5 years. However the spoke looked to me to have been over-tightened. He was unable to explain why he proceeded to do the original spoke replacement after observing the damage, and to tighten the spoke, which had 2 cracks around the spoke entry point on the rim, and which was also deformed outwards. (and to initially charge me for what was effectively wasted work). The appropriate, transparent, action would have been to have paused the spoke replacement, contacted me, and advised that the rim should be replaced. A completely unsatisfactory experience that has likely wiped $100s off the value of the bike. I won’t be revisiting this shop again.

James in Kapiti was super helpful and replaced my bike chain and checked brakes etc to perfection The Kapiti shop is well laid out and I signed in as a client I’ll be back for sure Cost competitive which I appreciated ALL STAFF SO HELPFUL I LOOKED AT HELMETS TOO

I called the store not really knowing exactly what I needed. John listened, and gave me some advice even helped source alternative parts. Because of MY misinterpretation of the parts, there was some confusion and no doubt frustration, but John kept a very professional attitude and after I took a screenshot from an overseas website, he knew exactly what I wanted and found the part for me. Listed unavailable on website, but he still managed to get me 1 and set up a manual invoice to save any further issues.
TOP NOTCH service. If you have no idea what you need, ask these guys, theyre friendly, super patient and do what they can to help you out.

I bought a Proviz reflective jacket online. It arrived within a few days of placing my order and is a great jacket. I’m very happy with the fit and the quality. I usually wear a sz10 but upsized to a 12 to allow room for winter gear underneath and it’s very roomy. I’d say they are true to standard NZ sizing

Excellent service from Evo Napier. Visiting over the long weekend and had a e-bike chain problem.Evo guy spent a good 15 mins fixing it up for me and giving advice, enough to get me back on the road for another ride the next day. No charge. Amazing.

I shop at 3 different Evo stores in Christchurch, & except for one time, I have always been served by friendly helpful staff.

Customer service was excellent, the staff was very helpful and friendly, really pleased with the way explained different things to make my decision when purchasing Mt new ebike
