High prices, low quality

Prices - high, quality - low!
I had a medium-sized filling done at the end of January 2025, paid £240, not cheapat all for medium size. However it fell out at the beginning of March 2026. I have many fillings in my mouth, and this is the first one that fell out. I have called the clinic and they told me that they would gladly redo it but not under warranty, as it has expired 40 days ego. I will have to pay £240 again or possibly even more. I choose to no go back and have done the filling in another private clinic and paid £160 only, including anaesthesia. I believe if the filling lasted for less than 14 months, it might haven't been done properly on the first place. I feel sorry for my time and money ....

Regarding the reply "When you contacted us, we offered both a complimentary review appointment to assess the situation and the option to replace the filling at the standard private fee" - it is inaccurate, as I haven't been offered a complimentary review appointment, spoken with nurse Chelsea

We’re sorry to hear that you feel disappointed and appreciate you taking the time to share your feedback.

We would like to clarify that your filling was completed in January 2025 and our practice provides a 12-month warranty on fillings, which is in line with standard private dental care. As the issue you described occurred beyond this period, it unfortunately falls outside of warranty.

When you contacted us, we offered both a complimentary review appointment to assess the situation and the option to replace the filling at the standard private fee. These options were declined, as you advised you did not wish to travel to the practice unless the treatment itself was free of charge.

While we understand it can be frustrating when dental work does not last as long as expected, the longevity of fillings can vary due to a number of factors beyond the original placement.

We always aim to be fair, transparent, and supportive in resolving concerns, and we’re sorry that on this occasion we were unable to reach a resolution that met your expectations. We wish you all the best with your ongoing dental care.

After avoiding dental treatment for…

After avoiding dental treatment for nearly 20 years following a serious road traffic accident, I can honestly say that Gateway Dental Practice on Bruges Hill has completely changed my experience of dentistry.

Due to significant facial trauma and ongoing PTSD linked to medical environments, visiting a dentist has always been overwhelming. From my very first consultation at Gateway Dental in Bruges Hill, the team approached my situation with genuine understanding, patience, and professionalism. They took the time to listen to my history, acknowledge the psychological impact as well as the physical damage, and build a treatment plan around my comfort levels.

I required complex restorative dental work, including specialist dental implant treatment to replace teeth lost in the accident. The dentist carefully explained the implant process, bone support considerations, healing stages, and long-term outcomes in clear, reassuring detail. There was never any pressure—just structured, transparent planning and a calm, supportive approach.

The restorative dentistry carried out has been life-changing. The dental implants feel secure and natural, and the cosmetic and functional results have exceeded my expectations. For the first time in two decades, I can smile and eat comfortably again. The clinical standards, precision, and aftercare provided by this Bruges Hill dental practice are exceptional.

Most importantly, Gateway Dental truly understands patients with complex histories and dental anxiety. Their trauma-informed approach, combined with advanced restorative dentistry and implant expertise, makes them stand out as one of the leading providers of specialist dental implant and restorative dental services in the Bruges Hill area.

After 20 years of fear, I have finally found a dentist I trust completely. A genuine five-star experience.

Wonderful Dr. Ali

I take my young grandsons to Gateway and have nothing but praise for Dr. Ali. He is wonderful with the boys. He chats about things they are interested in, and explains every step of what is going to happen. They have no hesitation of jumping into the chair!

I am so impressed with Dr George

I am so impressed with Dr George, I was told I had a metal drill bit left in my tooth that another dentist had found from a prior dentist. I had not been told about this being left in my tooth but knew something was wrong from when it was done. He was able to remove it under microscope and also found another one which he also removed. On the two visits I went to see him, he did such a good job that I almost fell asleep on both occasions. I highly recommend this dentist and Dr George. Thank you for your amazing handy work

Dr Leigh Deadman and Gateway Dental

Dr. Leigh Deadman is the best dentist I've ever had. I am a nervous patient and he is very reassuring, explains everything thoroughly, and takes a lot of care in his work. I first visited him as an emergency patient for a broken tooth and since then have received a range of treatments from emergency fixes, routine check-ups, fillings and a crown fitting. I am very happy with the high quality of the work done. Gateway Dental is also the most efficiently run practice I've experienced. All of the receptionists are brilliant at their job as well as friendly, kind and helpful. The same goes for the dental assistants. Everything about this practice is reassuring and this is the first time in my life I have felt confident that my dental care is in hands that I can completely trust.

Was referred to Gateway for a root…

Was referred to Gateway for a root canal and was very impressed with the whole experience. Clean, friendly, efficient and easy to access. I needed to bring my baby along for the first appointment and they were very warm and accommodating, moving the appointment to a downstairs room. Would happily go back for future needs.

Excellent dentistry with great staff

Worst Dentist I have ever dealt with!

Worst Dentist I have ever dealt with! Once they have your money, you’re neglected.
If you have a wisdom tooth issue, there is no point going here. The receptionists and referral team clearly need more training as they failed, not once, but TWICE! to refer me over to the Hospital. This has cause me not only more pain and suffering, but lost money due to unnecessary travel, and time spent chasing them up; a 6 month delay has been caused because of their incompetence. No apology, just seemed to be a hassle for them to do their job; but I guess why would they bother, now that you’ve had my money. If I could leave a Zero I would. I urge people who want a hassle free experience to go to the other dentist next door.

Our team has made every effort to assist you, including referring you twice to separate hospitals, both of which unfortunately declined the referral due to their own criteria. We have spent considerable time trying to find an alternative clinic or hospital to ensure you receive the care you need whilst keeping you well updated via email. Additionally, when you informed us of your pain, we promptly provided antibiotics to help manage your discomfort while we continued to seek a solution. Patient care is always our top priority, however, after multiple failed contact attempts we haven't been able to speak with you on the phone. We are more than happy to discuss this further to help resolve any ongoing concerns.

Referral

Have been referred to gateway dental a number of times due to failed root canal treatment. Each time I have seen Mr Billis and his care is second to none. He has repaired all of my teeth and as a nervous patient, each time he has put me at ease and always explained the whole procedure.
Overall the staff here from the reception team, nurses and Mr Billis himself are wonderful!! I am now considering moving to this dentist in a permanent basis.

Perfect experience fixing my root canal issues

Fantastic service from gateway dental. I’d had a severe persistent infection in my two tiny front teeth over the last ten years.

After two root canals in each over the last ten years at my current dentist, I’d run out of options I had a referral to gateway dental to see a specialist.

They were absolutely fantastic very kind and helpful when I approached them during a flare up.

They performed two procedures on my two teeth to remove and refill the fillings and treat the infections. Process end to end was amazing and two thorough check ups later over 12 months looks like all my problems are solved.

If you have tooth problems but are a hit anxious about the dentist this is the place to go - absolutely fantastic.
