Booked a holiday last minute which meant I had to phone the company.
Had a lovely chat with a lady called Sam. She was very efficient and everything was straight forward. I had my documents emailed straight away and everything was very easy.

**Fine until something goes wrong – then you're passed around in circles**

We booked a £2,570 Mallorca package through Holiday Gems (booking HQ280272), including Ryanair flights, accommodation and transfers.

Our ATOL Certificate identifies Holiday Gems as the ATOL holder and describes the booking as a "Package (Single-contract)".

The problem arose when £62 worth of pre-booked Ryanair seats disappeared from our booking.

We tried repeatedly to resolve this with Ryanair, including their chatbot and eventually a human representative, who simply directed us back to the chatbot.

We then asked Holiday Gems for help.

To be fair, the Customer Liaison representative did attempt to contact Ryanair on our behalf. Ryanair apparently refused to deal with her because she was not named on the booking.

Unfortunately, Holiday Gems' solution was then to send us back to Ryanair's chatbot and advise us to ask for a human – despite us having already explained that we had done exactly that and the human had sent us back to the chatbot.

So we have ended up in a ridiculous circle:

Ryanair chatbot → Ryanair representative → chatbot → Holiday Gems → chatbot → ask for a Ryanair representative.

I appreciate that Holiday Gems did make an attempt to help, but I am extremely disappointed that a company from which we purchased a £2,570 single-contract package has not been able to provide an effective route to resolve a £62 problem concerning one of the flights within that package.

I have now escalated the matter formally to Holiday Gems' directors.

At the time of writing, the £62 remains unresolved. I will happily update this review if either Holiday Gems or Ryanair finally resolves the matter.

Whilst being stuck in Cyprus due to the air traffic disruptions, we turned to HolidayGems for help and were lucky enough to speak to Heather, who was absolutely amazing.

Heather did everything she could to find us a return flight home. She found an available flight and provided us with all the information we needed, but unfortunately, while we were trying to book it, the flight became unavailable.

Later that day, Heather called us to check how we had got on. I explained that the flight was no longer available, and she immediately looked into finding us another option. It was so comforting to know that someone was genuinely trying to help us when we were desperate to get home.

After I suggested that we could potentially fly from another airport, Heather quickly found us a suitable flight, and everything was finally sorted!

Thank you so much Heather, for going above and beyond and for being there for us when we really needed help. You made a very stressful situation feel so much easier, and we are incredibly grateful for everything you did for us.

I made a booking through Sam today very very helpful and I managed to achieve everything I needed to so Sam thank you very much. You couldn’t have been any more helpful. Definitely recommend.
