Homewise appear to be an unusual organisation in the world of housing retired people. Having found a niche market, it appears their founder has developed a well experienced team and built on a reliable formula. Interactions by myself with 2 members of staff, have created good vibes for me at a particularly critical stage of my journey into old age.

Comprehensive explanation of the process.

I lost my sale and purchase through Homewise not revealing that they were bringing a 3rd party into fund. This was never mentioned & I wasted 4 months & money on solicitors & having to pay a fee to HW & then they could not provide the service. Luckily I have now found my own way without their involvement. Communication very poor.

I was not told by HW at the beginning of transaction that they would be using a 3rd party to fund their purchase. The Freeholder would not agree to have a 3rd party as a leaseholder.

As all of this was being negotiated between HW & the Freeholder without communication of what the hold up was. I was left losing the purchase that HW was negotiating for & losing the buyer for my flat. 4 months went by & I was left back to Square 1 without an apology & a lot of money out of pocket.

At the beginning they made an increased offer on the proposed purchase without asking for my agreement.

I did not exist as a 76 year old woman going through a very significant change in my life. They were heartless and only out for business.

My advisor did the best he could under circs where there were just so many people involved the client is just a chess piece.Think carefully.

Luckily now directly purchasing my own property & good to have my voice heard at every stage of the process.

Our account manager Rhonda has been fantastic keeping us updated with any changes that need to be address while we have been out if country

This was a very difficult time for me in my life as my partner she had just died and i was only left half the property but Homewise were brillinat with the help given is as much as working out figures of potential new properties with Bradleys a local west country estate agent-Samuel Stevens was the contact at Homewise and was extremely knowledgeable and so helpful as well

Beware of this company. At first they were vague about the nature of their contribution towards the cost of the property. Later they said it was a Lifetime Mortgage ( which is one form of equity release). However it is not a lifetime mortgage. If you take out a lifetime mortgage you own the property. With Homewise they own the property even though you will contribute much more than them to the price of the property. I checked with the Equity Release Council, Homewise are not an approved lender and you are not covered by ERC protections.

It was great to talk with Gary yesterday. due to the background noise of other people talking, it was difficult to hear him. Otherwise, brilliant.

I was referred by a partner estate agent through to Homewise and had an excellent phone consultation with Kiera. She was very thorough,and was friendly and approachable throughout. I didn't feel under any pressure. After taking all the relevant details and explaining the plan, she emailed my personal illustration straight through along with a selection of properties that may be suitable for me. I have since emailed a couple of extra questions through which have been replied to promptly.

Kiera, who met us at the offices, was very welcoming and accommodating to our needs. the company was not pushy at all on getting what it wanted so felt at ease

We discussed in detail about the company and how it works. Kiera was very friendly and knowledgeable. She talked me through every detail and was very helpful.
Two days later, I received a brochure, together with a detailed budget which was very favourable I would not hesitate to recommend Homewise to anyone looking to purchase a property

I contacted Homewise, having read various reviews and they are all over Rightmove. My partner and I wish to down size our house, we live in the London area and expect to have £900,000 left after sales. A budget of £600,000 to spend on a new house. So £300,000 to invest in us.
Aged 60, Homewise would give us £60,000 of the £600,000 for a 50% share in the new house. We would maintain and cover various costs and upon both deaths or care home, Homewise would sell the property. So our estate would receive 50% of the sale price. As property doubles on average every 20 years, its a very interesting option. Our present house has trebled in 17yrs.
I spoke to my IFA, who had one question before we got too excited. Homewise talk about up to 59%, how do you get the 59% investment? Simple, your older than 60.

Homewise and I had already exchanged a few emails and I had explained our needs. They arranged a phone call with an advisor. A very quick Q&A they estimated that at aged 60. They would offer £60,000 on a £600,000 purchase subject to T&C.
The Homewise offer was not substantial enough to be worth while to us. I understand why the offer was low, if we live another 25yrs. Homewise have a long wait for any substantial return and the rules on CGT may have changed. Its not a simple investment to either party.
As an option to buy a property, its very interesting and I would recommend looking at. Everyone’s situation is different.
I have read some of the 1 star reviews and feel some didn't understand the product fully. A home is a big and often complex investment, so please ask questions.

Our experience with Homewise was outstanding. Kayleigh was our contact, she was extremely helpful and went above and beyond to help us locate a possible property to purchase. She came across empathetic to our wishes, needs and decision. We did not go with Homewise in the end as we've decided to retain 100% of ownership. The scheme is a great one but just not for us. We would consider Homewise if our situation should change in the future.

The operator was understanding of our needs and explanations were easy to follow. Any queries were dealt with honesty and any follow ups - if they were necessary - were done when we were told they would be done. Very professsional, polite and very knowledgeable.

V helpful, understanding AND and provided informed advice

Went on the trust pilot calculator and got a price for a place but when I told them that it's a retirement flat they added on £12.000 I think they should state any extra costs and be more up front all I can say is beware of added costs we didn't go ahead
