I have been with RACQ on and off most…

I have been with RACQ on and off most of my driving life but I will never use them again! Firstly they sold me a new battery with a 2 year warranty when after 1 year it needed replacing they then said no it’s only a 1 year warranty!

After upgrading my roadside assist to include a 100km tow per year they totally refused to do the tow because it had been previously towed. That previous tow was in the previous years annual payment. After being promised there would be no problem at all and $344 was paid of the roadside assist renewal I ended up being on the phone for more than two hours and spoke with 8 different people and continuously on hold between so called supervisors and managers who did nothing to help me and no one would be accountable so I was forced to demand a total refund and said I would never use them again! They then said 2-3 business days for refund which became 4-5 business days from another person? Wait…what? You can take it the same day but not refund it the same day? BS!
it’s easy to refund when paid by a card over the phone…Absolutely disgusting RACQ! Never Again! RACQ No Star Review…No Customer Service…Just put on hold over and over with Evasive Robotic so called ‘Supervisors’ and ‘Managers’ with no concern for the continual Stress & Anxiety they continued to cause to a paying customer…Good Riddins RACQ!!!

RACQ advertises an Excess-Free Glass…


RACQ advertises an Excess-Free Glass Repair or Replacement benefit that sounds straightforward — but it’s not.
When I tried to have a small windscreen chip repaired, RACQ said chip repairs are excluded because the damage didn’t go “through the full thickness” of the glass.
That effectively means only full replacement is covered, making the word repair in their advertising meaningless.

RACQ’s own representative, Jo-Anne L, later admitted that “the marketing description may have led to a reasonable expectation that chip repairs would be included.”
Despite this, they only offered an ex-gratia reimbursement and now refuse to respond to my follow-up emails or clarify how “repair” can exclude chip repairs.

For an insurer that promotes itself on trust and member fairness, RACQ’s handling of this issue is unacceptable.
If you’re considering adding this option, read the exclusions carefully — it’s not the cover you think it is.

The most useless road assistance

I had a breakdown that damaged my wheel and my car needed to be towed. RAC refused to tow my car because the breakdown “caused damage” to my vehicle, which makes no sense, since every breakdown involves some form of damage visible or not.

On top of this, I am more than 1,000 km from my home. My policy clearly states that if my vehicle cannot be repaired within 24 hours, RAC will cover accommodation for up to 5 days. When I contacted them, they simply claimed my breakdown wasn’t “serious enough.” This condition does not appear anywhere in the policy — the wording only specifies that the car must be out of use for more than 24 hours.

As a result, I’ve been stranded, forced to pay for 10 days in a hotel out of my own pocket, while RAC refuses to take any responsibility.

This is by far the most useless roadside assistance insurance I have ever purchased. They do not honor their own policy, they shift the responsibility back to the customer, and they provide zero real support when you need it most.

Poor customer service.

Only one person doing banking,poor system to make withdrawals, don't go at lunch time one worker smug employee got up with many people waiting and went to lunch. No appointment necessary the will make ou wait ,time to change banks.

An easy experience.

I had to make a contents and building claim due to a burglary. RACQ made the whole process incredibly easy and I was impressed with how quickly my claims were processed and approved.
Everyone I spoke with was incredibly helpful and sincere. Thank you RACQ.

RACQ car insurance disgrace.

We were involved in an accident in April we lost our car and caravan the van was insured with another company and they were so caring and helpful and finalised our payment promptly .The RACQ who we had our car insurance through was a nightmare they took weeks to even do the assessment even telling us the car was in Brisbane at one stage but it was still in Gympie because we checked it was in Clayton's yard not sure how they managed that ., We had to chase them daily to find out about the claim , when they finally did pay out the claim we never got the money because it was deposited supposedly into another ACC not ours , again we had the virtually beg for them to fix the mistake and they finally did , now nearing the end of July they are still wanting to know if we got only one payment , this is disgraceful we are and have been to hell and back dealing with the RACQ and still they are putting so much stress on us when we did nothing wrong . I can't believe a company like RACQ are so incompetent to make a mistake like this and put people through the stress of this ongoing botch up they were responsible for. We are not young and this is causing on going trauma we feel like we have to prove they made mistake . Today we were told this would be fixed and the girl apologized but I have heard this numerous times in the past 3mths ,this is now bordering on ridiculous and I honestly from experience do not trust what I am told by RACQ. UPDATE.,received an email from RACQ claiming all responsibility I am hoping this is finally over .

Look around RACQ do not care…

After 32 years with RACQ our Home and Content policy when up nearly $900 we have not made a claim in years .
Even with a excess of $2,000.00 Home and $1,000.00 on Content.
As for a review and got a letter a week latter stating they would not change the premium.
They don't care abouut loyal customers only shareholders.
Went with Suncorp who were $600.00 cheaper for Insurance and even increase the amount of Building
Sorry after all these years RACQ did not care, so look around as there is better Insurance Companies out there wished I had left years ago.

If you have insurance with RACQ - Don't

If you have insurance with RACQ, I urge you to change it. I have been a member of RACQ in some capacity since getting my license they have not lived up to any brand of Loyalty or being part of the Queensland Community.
My car was hit by a drunk, unregistered and texting driver while parked, I was not at fault and provided police reports, evidence and yet because my car was parked, I am ineligible for a hire car, which they have updated under a new policy that I am one month away from being renewed into.
I have contacted many other Insurance companies who were shocked that this was RACQ's policy and were very apologetic that that was their position.
I am now in the position of not having a car for at minimum a month (it's already been a week and a half). For a company whose motto is "RACQ helps you and Queensland get ahead". You have allowed me to fall behind and you have not helped me.

False Advertising

Short story - I paid for a policy and when I needed them they stated they wouldn't help unless I paid more because back when I signed up the lady undercharged me for what I was asking for. (False Advertising)

So I was left to recover myself.

They also wouldn't refund me for the service I had paid for although they wouldn't provide it.

Instead, I've now cancelled 2 road side assistance policies with them and gone with someone else for a loan.

2 months without my car and after…

2 months without my car and after ringing for the umpteenth time to say when it was going to be fixed I was told the claim was being declined because I failed to disclose a minor criminal conviction when I renewed my insurance policy last time. This never stopped them taking the monthly payment out of my bank account while the car was off the road.I have been insured by them for over two decadestbut never again would I recommend this bunch of thieves to anybody anyone

Far out!!

Absolutely LOVE RACQ's kookaburra ad on TV with the 'blue vehicle' far out ad. So clever with the way it's put together please run it all the time, disappeared for a while but glad it's back. Makes me happy every time I see it ❤️

Unexpected great service at below market value

The kind attention from beginning to end was great and our issues were resolved within 24 hours. A stone chipped one of our windows and we discovered afterwards other shops charged 20% more expensive and likely could not do the job as quickly or likely more professional than RACQ.

We have been waiting for our house a long time

We have been waiting for our house insurance claim to be approved as 2 weeks ago was the last person they sent out it been March since we living in make up rooms i have teen age girls and a son my wife and my self this have gone on to long i have tried ring but keep getting on hold 30 min to 20 minu i have waited i can not keep waiting on the phone at work all the time i pay my month insurance for my cars and house with RACQ and this is what i get back a water damaged house that i pay insurance for storm damage

Incompatible component installed, were told not to do so by manufacturer and still changed me for it

In the last few months, I had a solar system with a battery installed at a cost of over $25,000. Unfortunately, the system failed within a week, and it took the installer nearly two weeks to send a technician for an inspection. During the inspection, the technician found a temporary workaround for the issue and informed me that the system was functional for the time being.

A few days later, the installer contacted me, stating that the problem was due to an incompatible component installed in the system. They said they would need additional time to resolve the issue. It has now been almost three months, and I am still waiting for a resolution.

I reached out to the battery manufacturer, who explained that the component installed in the solar system should never have been used, as it could potentially damage the battery. This was clearly stated in their mandatory training and the library of resources provided to installers.

To make matters worse, the installer has failed to provide a refund for the incompatible component, further adding to my frustration.

RACQ employed an underhand ruse to deny reimbursement for travel costs.…

RACQ denied my claim for reimbursement of airline and accommodation costs under a travel insurance policy, stating that the airline’s written reason for cancelling a flight - “Operational Reasons” - didn’t provide sufficient detail, despite this reason being the standard airline response to customers when a flight is cancelled. In this case, RACQ is employing an underhand ruse to deny a legitimate claim for reimbursement.

I hit a pothole and even though I am a member the RACQ would not change the tyre because the rim was bent and technically it was an accident and the tyre wasn't flat. The tyre was going down. I am a 63 year old man with three cracked vertebrae in my back, no discs in my neck and I could not get under the van to get the spare tyre down which hangs from there. Oh, and the only other person there was my friend with Parkinson's disease. DO NOT BOTHER JOINING. Also, as I had to inflate it to get somwhere it could be changed. Congratulations RACQ YOUR INCOMPETENCE WRECKED MY SUSPENSION. NEXT TIME DO YOUR JOB!!

no help for break down

my jeep cherokee went into limp mode so wouldn't drive - got it towed home but when i had arranged a mechanic to fix racq refused to tow to there cos they said it was the same fault - i paid for towing to mechanic but jeep was not able to be fixed - again racq refused to tow it home nor to another mechanic - i am in a rural location and a pensioner with distance covered by my membership but racq won't help unless i pay big $s - there was a time when i had a vehicle need and racq were there to help quickly - now it is rule after rule for no help except to offer an expensive pay it yourself two times private same service cost - like so many services racq has become a mercenary greedy thief and just another business criminal

My car needed to be fixed after the flooding in Townsville, they told my application has been approved but still I need to pay 1250 from my own pocket and the funniest part is the whole cost was 1318 :))
They accept to just pay 68 dollars.
Which is even less than what I pay them every month!!
That experience was surreal!

RACQ Chermside Absolutely Useless

Went to RACQ and dealt with a staff member who constantly had to ask another team member. I was patient because I wanted the service that they were offering. Eventually I requested someone else. The manager,Carsen arrived and immediately he escalated instead of listening to me and my needs. This guy is the branch manager. Be advised people this is not a true bank. The individuals working there Read everything from a screen. They have no idea what they are doing
