Hire car option removed.

Our car was damaged in a shopping centre car park and no note was left RACQ removed the ability to hire a car without telling us. Now we are without a car while ours is being fixed. Looks like we are changing insurers.

Well done RACQ roadside assist

My car refused to start in my sons driveway. Phoned RACQ. A mechanic was sent out promptly. Needs new starter motor. Tow truck came promptly and took car to my preferred mechanic. Thank you RACQ. A very positive experience from a very inconvenient situation.

After 36 years and a Gold Membership……

After 36 years and a Gold Membership… loyalty should be everything. I showed you 36 years loyalty, RACQ you showed me in two days it’s worth nothing. Renewal notice for car insurance was very high, you said all you can do is increase my excess and take extras like car hire off. I called other providers they said to me - keep your extras and the excess you like and pay us $2385 less for the same motor vehicles. How can you be that much more expensive RACQ. Ripping people off!

just another greedy company without explanation

I have lived in my house for over 30 years and have only ever claimed twice both due to bad storms. I was with racq for many years then changed to Alliance as the premiums were cheaper. Now some idiot has put my house in a flood zone, keeping in kind we have never claimed for storm, we don't even get water around house and we have had the worst storms we are ever going to get in Queensland, so 3 years ago my house and contents was on average $1,800 so this Friday I rang RACQ to compare and get a quote, not only was the lady very rude she could not answer any of my questions as to why my quote 3 years later was quoted at "wait for it" $9800 without any explanation as to why and she was the so called supervisor. SHAME ON RACQ FOR BEING THIEVES and greedy for Imoney. Its insane that they are getting away with this crap while the CEO make millions in profit from hard working people. Fancy being in flood zone after 30-40 years of never claiming for flood, its a joke and yet nearly every review is bad, nothing positive, angry people, does anyone ever read these or care, I seriously don't think so.

RACQ need to learn the QLD road rules

This company does not know the qld road rules. Had a car who failed to give way. We were approaching the lights (green) heading straight through the set of lights, the other car on the opposite side of the road,wanting to turn into the shopping centre. He failed to give way to us, thought it was a great idea to go through a red arrow on his end and cut us off causing us to hit them. Road rules in qld are to give way to the right. But some how, he isn't at fault. RACQ need to learn more about the road rules. They simply want to get out of fixing a car that their customer has caused thousands of dollars in damages, This should be taken a lot further. .... so basically if you don't speak English go with racq if you want to go through red lights and break the road rules and cause accidents go with racq if you want to get away with cutting others off who are in the right of way go with racq

I rang RACQ to cancel my car insurance…

I rang RACQ to cancel my car insurance because my car is too old
And we already paid a lots to repair the car,at last We need to give up to keep fixing it
Elliot is the staff who help me this issue,he is working in the Brisbane head office building
He is amazing polite and ver happy to help me,and explain all progress how to refund or I didn't hear any things from the refund
Then what I need to do,he also check any others RACQ service I did join
He is so much patient to help
What a great wonderful customer service
I really love to say thank you Elliot for your kindness
You do a such a wonderful job
Good on you
Hope your company will know you are a gem in the company

Worst Company to deal with ever!!

RACQ are trying to blame us for an accident that is clearly the other drivers fault. Everything is on camera and even the Lawyer has said it was the other driver's fault, however, they are still blaming us and have sent it to the debt collectors, they didnt even need to pay to fix our car. Very greedy and worst company to deal with ever!!

RACQ , so much for this automotive community!!

Being that we are on pensions and struggling with the cost of living , my wife and i decided to downgrade our roadside assistance cover with RACQ. Easy you say ? Not with RACQ ! i called up this morning and after 15 minutes of hideous repetitive music i got a pleasant young lady who seemed very helpful , i explained that we needed to reduce our cover and i said which one we wanted . She said we could do that and started the process, i asked if she could email the new price so i could pay it on friday as we would not have any money until our pension came in. Then she said she could not do that and went on about how it has to be paid over the phone today and the cmputers had to process it or some other garbage ! I said that was impossible and i would rather pay when it was due with online banking ! I told her to forget it as that would not be able to be done till friday ! later i thought i would send RACQ a message of distrust as this seemed a bit of shifty business if you can do it with a insurance policy why not withroadside assistance ? so i got online and wrote my message, but as i was about to send it a message came up saying i had run out of time to submit my letter! that made me angry , I was denied the right to send complaint and questions ! so i rang up again to hopefully to talk to someone about my predicament ! WAS i ever wrong! i got a young guy that all he wanted to know was my name address ph no . year of birth and email address ! I said can you please give me your manager or someone that ran his section? Thinking that he was smart he tortured me with 15 minutes more of torturous music, then he got back on and still would not put someone else on! He virtually demanded my information again and then proceeded to put me on hold again ! [anybody that has experienced this knows how irritating this can be ! ] Eventually, after 20 minutes more crappy music later a woman by the name of ALANA came on , by this time i was pretty angry at being treated like a nobody! She told me that they would ring back easter saturday and yes i would have to answer the same crappy questions and i would have to pay it over the phone which i do not do! I argued until i was blue in the face, she was really nasty with me i admit i was not much better and then said she had enough and she hung up! so much forr her title of customer service officer!! SO my problem is not solved , but could be with an emailed bill, GO FIGURE!

I have taken my case to the AFCA group…

I have taken my case to the AFCA group to see if they can do any good but of course RACQ again lied about things to them. This insurance company is not there for there customers at all but instead there policy should be we will lie about everything. It is also a disgrace that they assessor team cannot respond to you when you need to talk to them or send messages to them. Racq will lie and not help and same for assessor’s. You lot are nothing but scum and love to take the money and get away with it. Great job for being good for nothing. Also if I could put zero experience I would. I would love everyone that has this experience to fight as they get away with to much.

Outrageous Quote

I’m retired so home most of the time. I live on a hill on the outskirts of Brisbane. I have the usual security devices installed. Only one claim in past 14 years and that was due to a lightning strike.
Last week I received my insurance renewal for home and contents insurance. I’m with a large insurer. I was expecting an increase over last year so I wasn’t surprised when I saw it had gone up by 10% to $2,875.
As recommended, I decided to get a couple of comparison quotes. First online quote was from another large insurer who specialises in over 50s. Their quoted premium was 12% higher for the same cover and excess. That seemed OK.
The second quote was from RACQ. I’ve been a RACQ member for 49 years so I thought I’d get a reasonable price. I was shocked when the quoted premium was 525% higher at $15,088 for the same insured values and excesses. At the time I asked the online chat person to double check that the quoted premium was correct. She advised that if I had answered the questions correctly then the quoted premium was correct. To make sure it wasn’t a mistake I waited a few days and went back online to get a fresh quote. The premium came back with the exact same premium of $15,088. Can you believe it !
Obviously, I won’t be switching to RACQ nor would I advise you to.

RACQ are corrupt!!!

RACQ change their story with every renewal. They have been told that I am travelling the country as a health professional. Today, they advised that they won't review my policy - after over 30 years of membership, because I have been out of QLD for over 12 months!!! I was told last year that I was covered whilst travelling. What a rort - no claims in that time and paying premium price for comprehensive insurance.

I am a Gold Member

I am a Gold Member, have been with them for over 30 years. Got my new policy in the mail yesterday to see the hire car taken off my policy. Rang them, only to be told if you want that service now you have to pay extra. Also the policy went up heaps. I asked the girl why. Oh I am so sorry. Meanwhile 2 of my cars are fully insured, the older one just Third party property, it went up heaps, I said to her why has it gone up so much, the value off my car has not gone up, but your policies have. No real explanation, only I am sorry. Why did yous not let customers know that yous where taking the hire cars off policies before hand, instead of just putting a cross in a box on the new one. Money hungry greedy pieces of rubbish yous are RACQ. As for leaving people on the side of the road, they have also done that a couple of times to us. When they advertise we will look after you and never leave you stranded. What a load of crap.

I joined the racq in 2008 but have…

I joined the racq in 2008 but have never insured with them as I've never found their prices competitive however have usuallyhad my ctp with them. A couple of years ago I had the misfortune of having a distracted driver in my street cross the centreline and crash into my trailer. She as it turns out was insured with the racq.
Early in the process I had a number of conversations with them about liability and provided them with photographic evidence showing that their insured crossed to the wrong side of the road causing the accident. Since then they will no longer speak with me and have decided to have a debit collection agency harrass me for the cosy of repairing their insured car.
Interestingly however I was contacted by a third party investigator, contracted by the racq, to help get them get out a third party compensation claim made against them by the woman driving the car that hit my trailer as my ctp was with them.
Talk about corporate greed!
I've provided then with photos or the crash site, offered to meet with them to walk them through the scene and evidence, to which they have declined each time. Interestingly though there investigator welcomed the opportunity and could clearly see what had happened.
What a disgraceful organisation.
I'm very disappointed, so much for being a member of Queensland's biggest club.

Warning about their tactics

This company is taking advantage of people. I had comprehensive insurance for a car valued at $5400, paying $99 per month. After it was hit by a kangaroo on the 3rd month, they want to write it off, imposing a basic excess of $750, age excess of $600, and insisting I pay the full year's premium upfront before receiving any money, totaling $2400. I have five other policies with them, paying $220 monthly for a vehicle worth $4000. If that car has an accident, I'd end up paying $3700 to receive $4000, revealing how they deceive people into feeling insured only to discover the hefty costs after an incident.

Terrible Insurer - Dont Put Your Trust in them

Have been a loyal customer for several years and got into my first ever car incident where i was not at fault (got rear ended) and i was hit on an angle. The other party was at fault but denied it so it became a dispute. RACQ decided to put me at fault. I was gaslit and treated like a criminal by multiple RACQ staff members and had to fight to prove i was not at fault which took over 3 months which caused extreme stress, anxiety and emotional/physical fatigue. I took the matter to a third party which was the only reason RACQ decided to overturn their decision. While car got fixed had to go without a car and struggled to get to work with no compensation or hire car. Overall was treated poorly by RACQ, they are a terrible and untrustworthy insurer that you CANNOT count on.

Literally a scam

Literally a scam. You call them stressed and in a panic because you're isolated in the middle of nowhere and they sign you up for $300. The guy came out, room a three second glance and went "yeahnah nothing you can do except get a tow which cost $2,500+". Racq guy had his kids in the back of truck complaining they wanted to go home, super unprofessional. Gave us no alternatives then left us stranded again. They were literally no help whatsoever. It was basically a $300 call out fee that solved nothing. We then called someone from Google who fixed the car and said the problem wasn't that serious and he wasn't even a mechanic. Racq is literally just a quick money scam preying on vulnerable people who are in stressful and potentially scary situations. They should be shut down. It's disgusting.
