Not to be trusted. My 19 year old daughter broke down and instead of the “free to go” (google search) they kept her on hold for ages while forcing her to pay $113 before anyone would come out. Cynical & unaustralian RACUSUCK

Appalling Experience
Appalling customer service.
Abandoned amidst a claim.
Written requests and updates ignored.
Perpetually on-hold when calling.
No ongoing communication.
No direct route to email or call them.
If I could rate zero stars, I would.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS (LITERALLY).
Staff are lazy and would much rather get you to pay out or cross sell than to advocate for you or to be there during your unfortunate incident.
I will continue to work tirelessly to get everyone I know to ditch this so called 'members' organization'
Constant harassment of elderly
25 years with RACQ & their insurance became too expensive. Reminders by the truckload before payment due, text messages, letters & phone calls after we went elsewhere. Now 5 weeks after we changed our insurance provider their General Manager Insurance Product & Distribution has sent us a letter claiming that we've changed the policy & for us to contact them to discuss the change. I have told them in emails on at least 5 occasions not to contact us again, though to no avail. My wife and I are in our mid 70's we feel uncomfortable that we're being stalked by these people and now we're concerned that they may take to visiting us at home to demand answers. They just don't take "no" for an answer. I'd recommend to anyone thinking of joining them to think carefully about their extraordinarily high prices and their constant stalking of the elderly.

Roadside not worth it
Broke down on a servo driveway on a highway, AANT agreed that the car cannot stay were it was. As it was after hours on a Saturday the car was towed to a holding yard till Monday. Monday comes and RACQ refused to cover the remaining tow as they classed the tow to the holding yard as my one tow even though there was nowhere else to tow it to. I have now canceled all racq relater products.
Beware Price Increases
I used to think of RACQ as a trustworthy, solid company. I had home and contents insurance + car insurance with them last year. I received a notice of renewal with a 21% increase in premiums for the same policy a few weeks ago. I discussed with them, they told me several factors influenced the increase. One was that in renewing I lost the online sign up discount. Another was that, although inflation is less that 2% in Aus now, they increased the value of my property and contents by 7%, thereby attracting higher premiums. After much umming and ahhing and avoinding the issue, they finally told me the bulk of the increase was due to their increased rates. We discussed that most Australians are outraged every year when their health insurance goes up 6%, and I asked how they thought they could justify an 21% increase? No answer, though they did reduce the increase to only 18% by asking a few questions about the policy. In the end they would not budge, so no I have another insurer. Suggest you look VERY carefully at renewal notices from RACQ insurances.
