Initial quote $4000, which quickly went to $6000+
Received a quote from rates.ca for $4000 for homes and autos. When speaking with the Tristan from Scoop (an online brokerage) the quote immediately increased to $5000. By the time we had finished speaking the quote was more than $6000. That's a big change from the initial quote (seems like a bait and hook approach), and the service from Tristan at Scoop was subpar.

Very quick and easy process to get multi quotes on your house ins.
I've been with the same co. for my house ins. for 25 yrs. Rates.ca keeps sending me pop-ups for different quotes on house ins. so I applied. Just in a very few seconds I received 5 quotes back. Unfortunately the lowest one was still slightly above what I'm now paying so I'm staying put.

On the phone with this broker who takes all my information gives me a quote, then proceeds to take my banking information. He asked me for my banking information puts me on hold, the line on his side disconnects and he doesn’t call back. I wasn’t even able to get his contact information. I have changed my mind, I do not want this policy.

I was searching for a new insurance provider and used rates.ca to get a rough estimate within minutes. I even was able to get a quote for the 5 drivers in my house using their online form. Then today, I received a call from them and they connected me with a broker to get the process started. I wasn't even expecting the call. I was surprised and impressed. The new offering is considerably more affordable than my existing insurance.
