I purchased merch, and waited a few weeks. Still hadn't received anything. Contacted the seller, and never received a response. Contacted bandcamp a week later, and never received a response. Bad business

Bandcamp is great. We put our music here and its wonderful. It is what it is, I am not sure why anyone would leave a negative review.

I'm reviewing Bandcamp as a consumer, not an artist, but it amazes me that on Trustpilot so far the only reviews I've found of Bandcamp have been negative.

As a lover of music I think Bandcamp is excellent, the site is easy to use, and I feel like I'm making a difference by using them. Continuing to use services like Spotify or Amazon is killing the music industry. How can we support our artists if we don't pay them properly? Your ten pounds, or dollars doesn't go very far, and most of that doesn't go to the artist whose music you're actually listening to. If you love music, use Bandcamp. Actually buy an album and download it, then you will have paid for the privilege to enjoy that music knowing that the artist is also getting their fair share.

I have to agree with the negative comments relating to an artist's experience on Bandcamp regarding both a lack of support and traffic/footfall.
I joined at the end of August 2021, uploaded all my catalogue of music and have had 98 track plays, mostly partial, in total, and attracted 4 followers.
These "followers" have bought nothing, and neither has anyone else.
I know streaming accounts for the current lack of sales when it comes to digital music, but I have yet to hear of anyone having any great success with this platform. I certainly wouldn't pay them for their "services", and now, having heard so many bad reports about failure to pay artists for the music sales, I will be removing my profile and deleting my account.
Yes, we're an unknown entity, and have no merchandise, only music, and although Spotify might not pay much, The Eyes of Heisenberg attract much more attention on there than at Bandcamp.

This year I received a £50 Bandcamp voucher from my father-in-law for Xmas. I was quite excited as I already had a couple of records in my wish list that I wanted to purchase. I started looking though my wish list only to discover that barely any physical media is actually available to purchase with a voucher. It’s also quite apparent that Bandcamp is adding quite a markup to the prices, as many records are available cheaper elsewhere. In the end I found a record that I could purchase with a voucher. This cost £45 (it’s widely available for £30 elsewhere). What an absolute rip off. I’ll not be using Bandcamp again and will be warning family and friends to stay clear of their useless vouchers.

Edit - It only gets worse. I spent the final £5 of my voucher on a record that never arrived. I’ve received a refund from PayPal for the return, however my remaining voucher balance has disappeared forever. Bandcamp support haven’t responded to my messages for an explanation.

I’ve had to contact Bandcamp support a number of times since my original review and I have to say, they’re useless. They have no idea what’s happening with orders and they have no power to do anything if an order goes wrong.

My advice to anyone ordering through Bandcamp is, only do it if you really have no other choice and use PayPal so that you can get a refund. Whatever you do, don’t buy their vouchers.

A very untrustworthy company. Artists please make sure you get your money out of there. They are happy to take your $10 a month, but will refuse to pay you out for your sales. Theyll close your account and ignore all emails. This is happening to so many artists now. :(

Terrible service. I have artist registration on bandcamp. My paypal payment was planned on August 23 2021. Today August 31 and i still don't get any payment to my paypal account. i tried to solve this issue with Bandcamp support but they never reply... Anybody can help me?

Bandcamp scammed me for 180$. I'm waiting my paypal payment more then 12 days already. Impossible to get reply from bandcamp support. Bandcamp do legal fraud now. And nobody can't do anything. They send several payments to your paypal account then stopped to pay you anything. Stay away from this site.

Absolutely scam company. They send you several payments via paypal then stop to pay you anything. They owe me 700$... You will not find any way to contact bandcamp support. They never reply you... I want take legal actions against this company.

Wow, this platform is terrible for artists. Music is supposed to be promoted by genre to potential fans, nothing absolutely nothing. Even promoting my profile on Facebook is useless. Luckily, it doesn’t cost any money, but it’s still not enough to save it.

Eigentlich mag ich Bandcamp weil man dort besser nach den eigenen Bedürfnissen Musik Filtern kann. Aber mich ärgert dass dort Songs die dem Politischen Mainstream widersprechen gelöscht werden.

Actually, I like Bandcamp because you can filter music better according to your needs. But I'm annoyed that songs that contradict the political mainstream are deleted there.

Unfortunately it's REALLY hard to sell something here.
I've uploaded many songs on this site but i never received 1 single play.
Not even a single person came to my page, not even to look at it!!
It's a great waste of time if you want to sell something, cause, probably this site is not advertising the "small artists" enough.

No customer service no way to contact anyone . Has typical generic questions in help centre no way to actually contact anyone

I bought and downloaded an album but when I opened the download there was only half the album. I contacted the artist twice and bandcamp support twice. I have heard nothing. What’s the point in having customer service if you don’t even respond? Now I have half an album which I overpaid for - not a good experience and will not be using again
